I think seeing swatches of polishes online is an excellent way to determine whether or not you want to purchase a shade. It's pretty much my main determining factor. That being said, sometimes there are colors that you just have to see to believe. I find even the top bloggers like Scrangie admit that their camera doesn't do some of these polishes justice. I think this is the case with many of the colors in the China Glaze Island Escape collection.
I'm sure you're wondering why am I bothering posting it then? Well, because I can! :P Nah, I took pictures of these, so I don't want them sitting in a folder forever. Also, you can get an accurate idea of what this color is like, even if it doesn't reveal how truly beautiful it is. It's a bit camera shy. :)
Blue Iguana
under lamp
with flash
Blue Iguana is a bright blue with blue and violet micro shimmer.
The "under lamp" photo of this is what I feel best represents this color. This color reminds me of stained glass or what water looks like when the sun shines down on it. It's sparkles and it glows! It has almost this metallic-foil look to which gives this polish a really unique finish. This isn't you're stand run of the mill blue shimmer for sure! You need to see this to believe it. :)
Happy Wednesday!
I only bought this and 108 degrees and I LOVE them! They are actually nothing like the pictures I've seen!
ReplyDeleteThis looks gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree - there are just some polishes that outsmart the camera lens! No matter how many photos you take in different lighting, somehow the true beauty doesn't shine through. It's frustrating, but definitely speaks to how special the shade actually is. :)

Oh this is a yummy blue! Look at that shimmer! I think I may need this one now. I, also, read reviews before purchasing (unless it's an impulse purchase that is).
ReplyDeleteI love the whole Island escape collection. I do like 108 degrees more though.
ReplyDeleteohh yes it does look like stained glass!
ReplyDeletepretty!
ReplyDeleteI love the Island collection from CG but my favorite is Cha Cha Cha. Blues and greens are my go too in the summer, mostly because everyone else usually does pastels/brights/neons/corals/pinks.
ReplyDeletePS I pretty new to your blog but have you on FB and I got to say, I love it here. You're super informative and I agree 100% that sometimes seeing it on is a deal breaker or maker. Thanks for all you do. :)
This is high on my lemming list! And I agree; I pretty much refuse to buy a polish without first seeing blogger pictures.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I was resisting this collection but I'm loving all the pics i'm seeing
ReplyDeleteThis looks perfect on you!
ReplyDeleteif you have CG Blue Sparrow can you do a comparison? I had that color once and feel like they are very similar.
ReplyDeleteSure, but I probably won't be able to do it for another week if that's ok?
ReplyDeletethank you!
ReplyDeleteI almost didn't get many of them, but I'm glad I did in the end.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get it soon!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you for the kind comment :). I really appreciate it! You rock those blues and greens! It's good to be different in the nail polish world.
ReplyDeleteYeah! So pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great color too! I'll be reviewing that one soon.
ReplyDeleteI have impulse purchasing too. Those happen in actual stores, when I don't have to time to look up swatches. You have to be a bit of risk taker sometimes. :P
ReplyDeleteThank you. You're right. It definitely has to be a special color for it be frustrating to photograph.
ReplyDeletevery true!
ReplyDeleteSure, but I'll probably have to do it next week if that's ok?
ReplyDeletegorgeous color!!
