Orly Flash Glam FX: Spazmatic

We've completely been spoiled by glitter this past year right? Glitterbombs are every where. Long gone are the days of there only being glitter polishes you had to layer 5+ coats to get any kind of coverage. There are also amazing glitter top coats that are filled with varying colors and sizes of glitter. There are a lot of great choices when it comes to glitter. I thought Orly's Flash Glam FX polishes would fit right into this, but overall I'm pretty disappointed. This is one I picked up, that I feel rather "meh" about.

Spazmatic over Zoya Phoebe

Spazmatic is a mixture of medium electric blue hex glitters and light blue shimmer.

I think part of the problem is my choice of color to layer this over. Zoya Phoebe is a shimmery polish already, so the shimmer in the Orly does get lost. My fault there. Still, the glitter itself in this...-yawn-. This was two coats, and I felt like I was fishing for the glitter to come out and fighting for it to stay on my nail. It's one of those times where I look at other blogger posts, and question if perhaps I got a bad bottle? A lot of the glitter in the bottle if you can see in the pic, looks as if it has sunk to the bottom.

I was hoping this glitter would be denser, not a glitter bomb, but certainly not this sparse. While some other bloggers manage to get more glitter on their nail than me, the glitter is still very sparse. This just has too many negative things against it where I really cannot recommend it. Plus, you're paying more for these special Orly polishes. While, you may not have the same color options I'd stick to Milani Jewel FX or Jordana Specialty Glitters for your glitter fix when looking for glittery top coats. Honestly, as non-professional as this sounds, this glitter flat out sucks.

Happy Friday!

  1. This looks so gorgeous in the bottle, it's too bad the glitter payoff is lousy :(

  2. That's exactly why I bought it. It looked so great in the bottle. :(

  5. I had the same problem of fishing for glitter with Can't be Tamed (the purple one), so I let it settle for a few weeks, then decanted out some of the excess clear lacquer. The glitter payoff is so much better now!

I've tried this one out a few times on my nail wheel and haven't noticed any problem with it. I'll be sure to com back and comment when I use it in a full mani.

  7. These Orlys really did nothing for me. Although I'm not a huge glitter lover, I can sometimes appreciate the colors in the bottle and these just felt blah. I like the look you were going for over Phoebe though! Never thought to layer over a matte...
