Zoya Song-- I think I'm a blue polish snob

I ordered Zoya Song with Zoya's last promo. In most cases people would say this color is a gorgeous shimmery blue. I can even see where they are coming from, but I really dislike this color. Blue has quickly become one of my favorite nail polish colors. I have a lot of blue, but this blue does not cut it for me at all.

Song

Song is a medium bright blue with a silvery-blue glass flecky sparkle.

Great polish. Great application. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. If you want a medium sparkly blue, I have no reason to tell you not to get this. I just don't care for this shade of blue. I'm a cobalt and navy blue type of girl. This blue isn't rich enough or deep enough for me. Mediums blues are just not my thing.  It also doesn't seem very original at all. I think this probably maybe not dupey, but similar to China Glaze Blue Year's Eve and Sinful Colors Ciao Bella. I actually think those two colors maybe even better than this one. I look at it, and I want to like it, but I can name at least 10 other blue polishes off the top of my head that I'd rather wear than this. I'm so mean. I'm sorry :(.  I've definitely become a blue polish snob! In this case, this will be heading to the swap box.

Have you become a polish snob when it comes to some of your favorite polish colors?

  1. Ok, I don't usually comment on polish. Correction, I never comment on polish. I have not seen the other two blues you mentioned, but I like this. It has a fresh, alive color that reminds me of the Pacific Ocean in Big Sur on a crystal clear day. I am sucker for the ocean and you know I have never been known for taste so you are usually much more adept and have a better eye for fashion sense than mine. I guess I just miss the ocean after all.

  2. This color reminds me of a-England's Order of the Garter, which, while I loved it in the bottle, wasn't crazy about it on my nails.

  3. Dang Mom, you're making me feel guilty for not liking this color. The way you describe it makes it sound so nice!

  4. me, too! I collected so many blues when I went on an avatar nails phase awhile back... so now I have to be super selective because my rule is, if there is no room for it, I have to get rid of some before I can buy more. I was swayed by Song swatches at first, but in the end, I skipped all of the Zoya blues in favor of Fei Fei, Daul, Monica and Toni. My top blue picks now are Estee Lauder Blueblood, ButterLondon Royal Navy, Revlon Midnight Affair and Dior Blue Label. But since I have none of those I'm using Essie Bobbing for Baubles, Sally Hansen In the Navy and Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia. Navy is so flattering and so of-the-moment.

  5. I'm really glad you said this - I felt the SAME was about Song... Blue is definitely my favorite color, and makes up most of my stash... so I might have become a total blue snob too... but I had waited forever (at least it felt like forever) to get Song, and once I did - it fell FLAT. Bummer.

  6. I'm sort of the opposite! I'm not a huge blue polish fan at all. I think it looks a little wild and doesn't really mesh well with my wardrobe. But Song is absolutely gorgeous. The only reason I haven't bought it yet is because I really have no idea what I'd wear it with. lol.
I'm probably a little bit of a snob when it comes to blacks and reds, though. I prefer them a certain way and I don't really deviate from my favorite brands or finishes.

  7. I also just snagged this from a recent promo and I'm itching for it to come. I completely hear what you're saying about being a blue snob, sometimes lighter shades have a cheaper feel. I'm praying that I don't find Song to be this way, but regardless, this is still a really nice color on you!

  8. If you love blue polish, you must try (maybe you already did) CG Manhunt. It's my favorite. I'm wearing it as we speak. And I cannot stop looking at it. Not too dark, not too plale.

  10. Hi, I like that you told the truth even if there isn't anything "wrong" with the color. :) I was wondering where you swap polishes? I don't have local friends who are into polish and I have some colors that have only been swatched once that I would like to swap if possible.

  11. I think every girl that has over 100 polishes finds herself not liking as much anymore as she did before - it's just logical!
