Orly went ahead and did something entirely different for fall with the Surreal collection. The colors in this collection are soft shades and rich shades, with some fun glitters and shimmers in the mix. It is a eclectic mix for fall, but it works, and it's truly nice to see something different. I have Digital Glitter from that collection to share with you today.
Digital Glitter over Cult Nails Nevermore
Digital Glitter is a duochrome glitter with holographic glitters mixed in a clear base.
Color: This is an interesting one. You know Orly Space Cadet? The color of the glitter in this is exactly Space Cadet, just in glitter form. The glitter does have a cool duochrome effect that I could not pick up on camera. I really like this one, it's very cool and unexpected for glitter!
Formula: This is sheer. You have to layer this one. I used 3 coats over a base here.
Price: I paid around $8.00 for this at Ulta.
Overall: This a cool glitter mix. I've never really seen a duochrome glitter like this in a mainstream brand before. It's fun and unique and I like it. My only beef is I wish this was full coverage glitter. The sheerness of it lowers it a bit for me.
My Rating: 4 out of 5 Paint Splatters
Happy Thursday!
Oooh! Must find this!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I so agree with you! I was REALLY disappointed with China Glaze's fall line. The only polishes Li feel the need to buy from OPI's are the Liquid Sands and Essie's line is not bad but isn't groundbreaking either. I will have to check out the Orly line since they seem to be one of the few lines doing something interesting for Fall.
ReplyDeleteLike Space Cadet but with glitter?! Consider me sold. Really fantastic shots of all those colours, Stephanie! And yeah, I definitely have some room in my autumn polish budget to get it too. Not excited at all about OPI or China Glaze this season. Had higher hopes of China Glaze, since they're usually so creative, but the return of frosty polish isn't exactly innovating. Le sadface. :/
ReplyDeleteI saw this collection in Ulta the other day and had to refrain from getting anything. I will at some point but I gotta let my wallet rest. Love this color on you though.
ReplyDeleteI am planning to acquire the entire Surreal collection. Your swatch of Digital Glitter is beautiful and makes me want it even more. :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty color! I need to pick this one up now :D
ReplyDeleteI am excited about most of the mainstream fall polish collections. But then I am a pretty conservative polish girl. I love me some classics and updated versions of tried and true, in rich and jewel tones. Surprised at how much I am loving the drugstore brands this fall, too! I like some of the mid and low priced polishes more than my favorite luxury brands(from which I expect a lot more complex finishes, easy and smooth application etc!) I haven't bought a single dept. store polish yet this fall but have run out to look for new OPI, Essie, Sally Hansen Complete and China Glaze. The Luxury polish lines, for me, are a yawn this fall.
ReplyDeleteI picked this up last week. I wish it were full coverage, though. 3 coats? Yuck!
ReplyDeleteI love this!!! So sparkly and colorful! To be honest, I'm usually bored by fall shades. I've found a few gems so far though.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! I agree though, wish it was full coverage!
ReplyDeleteBeeeautiful! And I love when a glitter isn't full coverage, that way you can manipulate the looks of it :).
ReplyDeleteYes you must!
ReplyDeleteIt seems as though fall collections are hard to really change up much? I'm glad to see Orly did something different!
ReplyDeleteYeah, China Glaze polishes were pretty disappointing. I will say I do like some of their foil metalllics. I found them more appealing in person than photos online.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I understand the wallet needing a rest too. Mine is overdue for a long nap.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like what fall has to offer with nail polish this season!
ReplyDeleteI know, it's really bummer. I think it's disappointing because we know you can create full coverage glitters now with all the indies that are out.
ReplyDeleteI agree! The good side is we don't spend as much money, but it's nice to find a few special ones!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteGood point! I don't mind it on most, but this one for me I would of preferred it.
