Confetti Fruit Smoothie

Booo I haz a cold. I'm running on 3 hours of sleep..we'll see how this goes today!

I have not visited the Confetti brand in awhile. In my opinion, this drugstore brand is pretty yawn-worthy. It has your standard variety of unoriginal colors. I much prefer Sinful Colors because I think their colors are unique. I do not think I've ever been running out to CVS to get some epic Confetti color...hehe

That being said, Confetti does have an advantage. I was really wanting a bright coral creme. I did not really have any particular shade in mind from any other brand, but I really just wanted a color like this. This is where I think Confetti is awesome. Their polishes are $2, and if you're not looking for a specific polish, but a specific color, Confetti is a good choice that I think will satisfy your need.

Fruit Smoothie

Fruit Smoothie is bright red-pink coral creme.

This color is perfect! There is nothing I love more than a great coral in spring and summer. This was just what I was looking for. The pigmentation was good and formula is nice. Confetti pulled through for me here, and has with other similar situations. :)

Confetti Moonstruck

Reminder: Today is the last day to enter my holiday giveaway (US only)!

I've been a little glitter obsessed lately, so time for a little break from glitter. I've heard some people reporting that Confetti has been disappearing entirely from CVS. It's probably a good idea to go and stock up if they're still around at your CVS. I have a love/hate relationship with this brand. They're OK. My biggest complaint is their brushes can be wonky. They do have a handful of colors that unique and a great selection of colors to fill holes in your collection.

Moonstruck

Moonstruck is a medium taupey-grey creme.

This is a great color for autumn. This reminds me a lot of one of my favorites Sephora by OPI Metro Chic only a lot cheaper!

Confetti Debutante

I've had a love/hate relationship with Confetti, but since I heard there was some issues with this brand getting a restraining order/sued I don't know the legal jargon, I decided to grab some more. The color I got was Debutante. Let me just say I probably would of been better off not purchasing this one, but you can doctor things up, right?

Debutante

Debutante is a sandy gold frosty metallic, Blech,  I don't really care for this at all. I could tell I wouldn't care for it either when I picked up the bottle. Also, like some other Confetti polishes the brush on this was wonky and deformed. I guess I picked it up because I figured I could do something with it. I figured it may work for a funky Christmas manicure...

Here is Debutante with Revlon Slipper and Eva Green Hex Glitter layered over it. Meh, I'm not sure if this is cute or looks like Santa Claus and his elves threw up on my nails? I'll leave the up to you all to decide. I kind of like it, but if I were do that I think I'd do it on my ring finger only and paint the rest green or red. I think as full mani this would be a bit too much for me personally.

So, what do you think? Cute or ridiculous? It won't hurt my feelings. :P

Confetti Review: Part Two

A few weeks ago I reviewed the new nail polish brand at CVS called Confetti. I didn't give them the best review. I thought they had some good points and some bad. I was reading other peoples reviews and many people had great things to say about them so I decided I'd give them another go.

Here are the ones I bought. I'm also adding closeup swatches of these colors. I think I'm going to be doing this from now on with all my polishes. Please let me know if you don't like this!

Last Dance
Last Dance is pink color I wish I could describe. I'd almost say it's pinker version of a terra cotta creme. I'd actually consider a neutral color. It's not overly bright or muted. I like the color. I picked it out because it seems very work/professional friendly. This was the only I bought this time I had issues with. The formula was a bit goopy and runny. :(

Dressed to the 9's
Dressed to the 9's is a brick red with gold shimmer throughout. This is a great color this a color I've been looking for a long time, but no other color I picked up seemed to work out as well as this. I love reds with gold in them. It has to be one of my favorite combinations.

Just Dancin

Just Dancin is a wine colored shimmer with little hints of blue and red mixed in. Meh...

Smitten
Let me just say I am smitten with Smitten. This is a winner polish! It is a gorgeous deep sapphire blue with flecks of red, blue, violet, and silver micro glitter. You cannot go wrong at $2 with a polish that is this beautifully unique!

Ice Ice Baby
I'm showing this one a little different because this is definitely a layering polish. It's a clear base with blue/green iridescent glitter. From L-R it's on top of NYC Fuchsia Shock, Milani Fresh Tea, Color Club Chelsea Girl, China Glaze Spontaneous, Sally Hansen White Tip, & NYC Black Lace. It is probably better to enlarge this one. It's a pretty layering glitter. I like glitter ones like this because it makes me think of sugar coated sweets that have the crystal sparkle quality to them!

I'd have to say with these polishes I got my opinion of Confetti hasn't really changed. I did have to look at the brushes first before I purchased them and I definitely did see some more wonky brushes. The formulas on all these with the exception of Last Dance were alright. The color Smitten was real winner and I'm sure there are few others too. However, I still think their selection is pretty lacking. I'd have to say with majority of their polishes I already have color similar or a dupe of them. I think Sinful Colors is better with their selection and quality, but it's nice to have CVS brand polish at the same price point as Sinful Colors. I think it's all matter of taste and what colors and brushes you're getting!

Anyone else get some Confetti polishes since my last post? What is your opinion on them?

Confetti-CVS Brand Review

I've seen a few bloggers recently post about new brand of nail polish displayed called "Confetti". I've heard it dubbed CVS's version of Sinful Colors. They have a wide selection of colors that are $2 a piece. I bought 3 and I'm going to give you my review on the brand.

Here is the display

Pros:
-Wide selection of colors
-Great price

Cons:
-Limited selection in finishes
-Formula was a bit thick
-Some brushes were misshapen
-Very basic colors

Overall, I'm on the fence leaning towards not liking this brand. There are things I really like about it. If you are just starting up a nail collection I think this brand would be good. You can find many popular colors and get your basics covered for a cheaper price. I also found this brand helpful for me even though I have a large collection. It would be a great brand to go to fill in holes in your collection. If you're missing certain colors or you want to dabble in a new color you're never tried to before this brand would work out well. I saw a shade called "Moonstruck" that looked just like $OPI Metro Chic. It is great in that sense being able to substitute pricey colors for lesser expensive ones.

The things I didn't like is when I saw this display at a price of $2 a bottle I was so excited. At $2 I knew I could fill up my basket without feeling guilty. However, these colors didn't "wow" me. I didn't really see anything I hadn't seen before. I found the colors very basic except for a handful. I'd say probably 80% of the brand were cremes. There were hardly any shimmers or glitters. The application of the ones I bought were inconsistent, and I as left with bald spots after 3-4 coats. Also, some of the formulas were quite thick and the brushes on 2 of them were misshaped and frayed out.

If I were to compare Confetti to Sinful Colors. Sinful Colors would take the cake. They have a more interesting and unique selection. Their formula is also much better. I wouldn't completely dismiss Confetti though. They did have some colors Sinful didn't. I would probably shop the brand if I was looking for some specific I didn't want to spend more money on.

Here are the colors I got...

Dreamdate

Dreamdate is a sheer shimmery baby pink with iridescent gold I'd almost say glass fleck? I'm not sure how to describe the finish. I really love this one. I think it would be better off for layering, but it's a nice soft shade with some extra sparkle!

Belle of the Ball

First of all I apologize. Before I took the photo it looked like I had full coverage on the nail, but I guess not. This was 3 coats. Belle of the Ball is a light purple creme. Like I said before, this is a color I don't have in my collection, so I saw this as a good polish to add since I wasn't really lemming a similar color from a specific brand. The application and formula of this was pretty awful. My brush was frayed, the formula was thick, and I was left with bald spots. That being said I like the color and I'm hoping some nail polish thinner will help it out!

Blue Bombshell

Blue Bombshell is a VERY sheer pearl-like shimmer blue. This is a very pretty color. This was the only polish of the 3 I bought that the brush wasn't messed up and the formula seemed normal. I like this color, but be prepared to layer on some coats.

That's all I got. The more I write the more I realized how I am more displeased with this brand than pleased. These are just my opinions though and I encourage you to try them out for yourself. I'm not going to cut them off completely, but I know what to expect in the future!

Have you tried this brand? What are your thoughts?

Have a great Thursday!

Update:I've been seeing a lot of reviews of this brand today. Many people seem to like it and are not having formula/application/brush troubles like me. I just want to throw out there it is very possible that 2 of the 3 bottles I got were just bad bottles! I definitely do not want to deter anyone from purchasing or trying this brand because I think it does have some positive points. I just wanted to throw that out there. :)
