e.l.f. Flirty Fuchsia

The Target closest to me is usually good about getting the seasonal e.l.f. makeup sets, but this time I didn't see them. Thankfully, my friend Mandy over at MandysSecrets picked up the nail polish set for me. Thank you! I love the bright colors in the set especially this one. What makes this one even better is that it's a jelly!

Flirty Fuchsia

Flirty Fuchsia is a bright warm bubblegum pink jelly.

There is nothing fuchsia about this to me. I don't know why they called this fuchsia?  Oh well, they can call it what they want because this polish is great. I love a great jelly, and this fits that bill. It has that squishy appearance that is not sheer, and the formula was nice. Great polish. I suggest you jelly lovers scope this one out!

Happy Friday!

Red Glitter Comparison

Many of you thought it would be a good idea for me to do a red glitter comparison. I had a difficult time trying to figure out how to do this right. I probably have 20 red glittery polishes, so I just narrowed it down to the holiday looking jelly-glitter reds.

Here are the culprits....
China Glaze Ruby Pumps, Maybelline Comet, Milani Ruby Jewels, ELF Cranberry, Zoya Delilah

I used 3 coats of each of these to do this comparison. (It would probably be best to enlarge this photo)
I think Ruby Pumps is better than my swatch here. I was rushing and camera angle dulled it it out.

-I think the Milani, China Glaze, & Maybelline are near dupes of each other color wise. Maybelline Red Comet maybe a tinge darker than the rest. I think where difference lies is with the the formula of each. Ruby Pumps is a thinner and I think could require more coats than the Milani and the Maybelline. The Milani and Maybelline really only need 2 coats. These are thicker polishes. Maybelline Red Comet is also a fast drying polish.

-ELF Cranberry is different from the rest of these. This is the Cranberry version in the Target gift set. This one has more of a creme-like base rather than a jelly. It's equally as glittery as the other but has a different finish. Also this red is slightly more warm-toned than the rest.

-Zoya Delilah is the opposite of ELF Cranberry. This has more of a jelly-base with less glitter than the Maybeline,Milani, and China Glaze.

I think all of these are great, but when it comes to the 3 that are practically the same I don't know the difference. I think if you weren't do a swatch fest and rushing like me. Bad Steph, I know. All of these except Zoya Delilah and China Glaze Ruby Pumps would only need two coats. Zoya and China Glaze would be better off with 3..or 4 if you're impatient like me! :P

I hope you like this comparison!

Happy Thursday!

ELF Polish Trio

I wanted to show you guys a cute nail polish holiday set I got recently. I got the "ELF Nail Polish Trio" at Target for $3. I really like this set. The colors don't scream original, but it's a great holiday set for a great price. This set includes one jelly glitter polish and 2 top coat glitter polishes. It's probably best to enlarge some of these so you can see the glitter better. :)

Cranberry

Cranberry is a true red jelly with red glitter mixed in. I did not do comparisons, but from off the top of my head I think this is a brighter red than China Glaze Ruby Pumps. I also searched this ELF color online and there seems to be multiple versions of ELF "Cranberry". I've seen a berry shimmer and I've seen a maroon jelly with silver sparkle. I'm assuming that this version of Cranberry is online found in these holiday sets.

Golden Goddess (layered over Milani Gold Lame)
Golden Goddess is a gold micro glitter mixed in with silver holographic larger glitters top coat.

Twinkle (layered over Eva Powder Blue)

Twinkle is a white iridescent glitter top coat.

I quite like this set. I can't get enough red glitters and it gives you two great top coats you can use for endless layering combinations. Cute set I give it two thumbs up.

On a side note would anyone be interested in me doing a comparison of red glitters?

Happy Monday!

I Won't Spend More Than 10! Part One

One of the reasons I started this blog was to be able to share affordable nail polish with everyone. As a personal choice and financial choice I will not pay more than $10 on nail polish. I have nothing against higher end brands and I definitely encourage anyone who wants to purchase a higher end brand to go for it! However, I know many of us are living in a day in age where we need to save our money, but saving money doesn't mean you can't still have fun and enjoy great products!

The next 3 days I'm going to showcase the drugstore brands I'm familiar with including their pros and cons. All the brands I'll be featuring will be between $1-$10. Today I'll start with the lower end ($1-$3), tomorrow will be moderate end ($3-$6)and Friday will be higher end ($7-10). My pros and cons on these brands are purely my opinion, so I do not mean to offend if I may find something I don't like in product you love. Also, the price ranges I came up are averages based off of stores and e-tailers. You will sometimes see these products for more or less in other places. The bottles I'll be showing are not necessarily favorites just ones I picked out to use for the pictures. I hope with these next few posts I can help shed some light on drugstore brands, give you shopping ideas, and help keep more money in your pocket!

International Readers: See bottom of post. I would love some help from you. :)

Attn: International readers! I'd love for you participate in this to. I'd love if you'd share in the comments some affordable products in your country that are equal to or less than $10 in your currency. If you have a brand to share please just let me know the brand, what country you are from, price (in your currency), and where you can purchase the item. On Saturday I will gather up all the posts I get from international readers on their products and use that as a special international affordable products post for that day.

Spring Favorites & My Crazy Nail Polish Dream

To start out I wanted to show you all some of my favorite colors for spring. Now, of course you can wear these colors year round. I don't follow fashion laws or trends really. Nail polish is just fun for me, so I wear whatever color I want to wear. I suggest you all do that too, don't be shy to wear a bright green in winter or a dark burgundy in summer!

These are just a few options and it was difficult to narrow down. I do know what you are thinking, where is the mint green? The most popular color this spring. I know, I know, I know. As I mentioned before in previous blog I have yet to find the perfect mint green for me, so I don't really have any. Greens are difficult color for me to pull off. I will be blogging about this soon, and I will be needing your help and suggestions on my quest for the perfect mint green. Hehe.

Anyways, I had a funny dream last night. I dreamed that I went to this brand new Dollar Tree and they had all this nail polish. They had hard to find ones, limited editions ones, and expensive brands all for $1. In my dream I filled up 3 carts full of nail polish, it was amazing. It was one of those dreams that seemed so real, and then I woke up. :(. Oh well, it was a nice dream!

Have a restful Sunday!
