Girly Bits What Happens In Vegas Ends Up On Twitter

*I received the following product in exchange for my honest review.

I've had one of those rare "Why do birds suddenly appear everytime you are near" moments with nail polish. I love a lot of nail polish, but these days it takes a lot for my a nail polish to make my heart flutter. That's how I felt when I saw Girly Bits newest What Happens In Vegas... polishes. This is the 4th polish in this series as every year at Cosmoprof a new one is made. Thankfully, these are not entirely exclusive. You can purchase it yourself too until August 22nd then it's gone as it's a single pour release!

What Happens In Vegas Ends Up On Twitter
What Happens In Vegas Ends Up On Twitter is a is a mid-tone dusty denim blue holo, with a pink flash and a scattering of aqua holographic glitter.

Collection: What Happens in Vegas...2016

Color: This is the type of polish I love because I could have never thought something so amazing and beautiful could be bottled into a nail polish. This combination of the blue with that pink flash is stunning. There is so much dimension and depth in this one polish that you'll just get a kick out of looking at it in the bottle for a few minutes. Wow!

Formula: Excellent and smooth formula. I used 2 coats here.

Price: This is $12.73 on the Girly Bit's website, but remember it's only available until August 22nd!

Overall: This is a definite must have polish. Every polish lover needs this one in their collection. It's a stunning color that is complex and innovative. It's really rather mesmerizing. The formula was great and just go buy this one. You'll thank me!

Girly Bits Sun Dog (August Colour of the Month)

* I received the following product in exchange for my honest review.

I have a new polish from Girly Bits to share with you today. This polish is part of her newly launched Colour of the Month series. This month there are two polishes, Sun Dog and Dancing in the Moonlight. I have Sun Dog to show you today. There are two opportunities to purchase this polish. Today is the last day for the first opportunity to purchase. The second opportunity to purchase will be on the 24th and it will remain available until the last day of the month unless it is sold out prior.

Sun Dog
Sun Dog is a is a light golden copper shimmer holo (shimmolo), with bronze micro flakes and copper shimmer.

Collection: Girly Bits August Colour of the Month 2016

Color: This is gorgeous summer golden holo with some fun bronze and copper sparkly bits. I love holos that have some other added effects to them that make them stand out. It's pretty color, but I think it maybe a bit warm for my skin tone.

Formula: This had an excellent formula. This was very smooth and easy to apply. I used 2 coats above.

Price: This is $12.55 on Girly Bits website. Please note the purchasing opportunities I listed above for more information on how to purchase and when.

Overall: I love holo like this that have some added dimension. This golden bronze is a perfect color for summer and definitely ties into the Olympics going on right now. I'm not sure this is the best color for me, but I think outside of that it's nice color with an excellent formula.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Paint Splatters

Girly Bits Tarte au Sucre

I thought I'd try taking French in college, but after one week I decided it was too difficult for me. The pronunciations of everything really tripped me up. I've never been great at learning languages despite my desire to learn them. This polish from Girly Bits latest Sweet Nothings Collections is thankfully one of the few I can pronounce. It's pretty too which is always a plus!

Tarte au Sucre
Tarte au Sucre is a lilac purple sparkling microglitter accented with silver holo, red shimmer and multi coloured iridescent glitter.

Collection: Girly Bits Sweet Nothings Spring 2016

Color: I'm a sucker for lilac or lavender anything. I love this glittery interpretation. This shade has the perfect softness without being too light or pale. The mciroglitter, red shimmer, and iridescent glitter are perfect compliments to this shade that give it some depth and orginality.

Formula: This had an excellent and easy to use formula. I used 2 coats above. This polish definitely needs a top coat as it does dry gritty and flat.

Price: This is $12.80 on Girly Bits site.

Overall: This is an all around great glitter polish. I love the softness of the shade and the added dimension from all of it's glittery counterparts. The formula was great as well as the application. I'd say this is a winning polish.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 Paint Splatters

Girly Bits Defying Gravity

*The following products were provided in exchange for my honest review.

I'm not done with Cosmoprof goodies yet! I still have plenty to share with you. This next polish is from Girly Bits. Girly Bits is a brand that I have regretfully not purchased from in a while. The indie world can get a little overwhelming for me, but being able to try some of her polishes recently has ignited my love for the brand. I will definitely be frequenting Girly Bits again. This polish, Defying Gravity is a collaboration between Girly Bits and Phyrra to celebrate Phyrra's 7th blog anniversary.

Defying Gravity
Defying Gravity is a medium purple with an intense turquoise shimmer and a touch of holo sparkle.

Collection: Blogger Collaboration Series

Color: Defying Gravity is an amazing multi-dimensional color. The turquoise shimmer really stands out and flashes on your nail against the purple base. It really has such a neat effect on the nails. The holo sparkle just adds another awesome layer to this polish too.

Formula: This had a great formula. It was smooth and easy to apply. I used 3 coats above.

Price: This is $9.84 on the Girly Bits website.

Overall: I love Defying Gravity. This is the type of nail polish that has everything in one. Sometimes when you have too much or too many of a good thing it doesn't always work out too well. This is not the case with Defying Gravity, all of the components work beautifully together to create a stunning polish!

My Rating: 5 out of 5 Paint Splatters

My Very First Indie: Girly Bits Shift Happens

I recently was asked to join (thank you Polished Pathology) a group of bloggers who do monthly InLinkz posts featuring indies. This month's prompt was our very first indie. Looking back through my indies made me realize how long the indie movement has been around. I always seem to refer to it as a newer concept, but it's been around at least since 2011! I had to go back into my blog archives to discover my first indie. I kept thinking it was Floam, but it was a Girly Bits polish I got in 2011. Shift Happens was my first indie and I remember exactly why I needed it.

Shift Happens (over KBShimmer Right as Reign)
Shift Happens is fiery color shifting shimmer topper in a red sheer base.

This polished arrived when people were desperately searching for Clarins 230 a very similar dupe (Clarins 230 comes in a purple sheer base). People were spending a ton of freaking money on eBAY for Clarins 230 then. Max Factor happened to release a dupe to the Clarins 230 polish to at this time too, but it was only available in the UK. Many people in the US were paying for people in the UK to get them a bottle.

Then, Shift Happens arrived and that solved all of our polish problems! This polish is absolutely stunning! It has this beautiful lit-from-within glow to it that adds so much dimension to a polish especially dark colors. This is like magical pixie dust in a bottle.

I have to admit, I don't think I've taken this polish out in years. I feel like a fool now because as soon as I put it on I was mesmerized with it's beauty. This is a definite must have for any nail polish lover. You cannot go wrong with this polish.

Thankfully, this polish is still available for purchase! You can purchase it from Girly Bits for $9.86.

What was your first indie nail polish?

Girly Bits: Indian Summer, Howl at the Moon, & Crunchy Leaves

I have some new Girly Bits nail polishes to show you today! These are from the Girly Bits Calendar Girls collection. I will be using Girly Bits' descriptions for these polishes, since they will be more accurate than mine!

Indian Summer over Revlon Modern Grace (September)

Indian Summer is a mix of pink, blue, periwinkle, copper and gold, in a sheer periwinkle base.

This is a beautiful glitter! There is a gorgeous pinkish shimmer in the base too. I love the combination of colors used in this glitter polish. I'm a sucker for blues mixed with gold and copper, so this polish makes me very happy. It applied well very easily too. I used two coats over my base. I think this one would be better for layering.

Howl at the Moon over Milani Black Swift (October)

Howl at the Moon is a blackened blurple jelly with various sizes of gold hexes.

I love the combination of gold and black here. I love the variation in sizes with the glitters. I think this polish though it is themed for October, would be great for the holidays too. I think black and gold is a ritzy combination colors.  It's glitzy! I could see this as a great polish for holiday partys and New Years too. You could build this polish up in 3 coats, but I preferred to layer it with 2 coats over black. I like instant gratification!

Crunchy Leaves over Finger Paints Cordur-Orange (November)

Crunchy Leaves is a medium-dense glitter mix of orange, copper, brown, and red, in a sheer earthy base.

I needed a glitter like this. This is so perfect for fall. The combination of colors is beautiful, and the density of this glitter is a nice change from some of the sparser glitters out there. I don't own any polish like this! This is 2 coats over a base. You could use 3 coats to get near opacity, but I personally think a base gives it a bolder appearance.

Pam from Girly Bits recommends you shop her polishes from her stockists  Llarowe, Harlow & Co, Overall Beauty, and Mei Mei's Signatures as she plans to keep to have her products stocked well here. She does have her own shop site, but she will be doing fewer and smaller restocks there.

*I received these polishes to review by Girly Bits.

More Girly Bits!

I have some more Girly Bits polishes for you. Girly Bits was created by blogger and nail polish addict, Pam. I reviewed a few a little awhile ago and Shift Happens last week Pam has some amazing polish creations. Her polishes do not only come in great colors and finishes, but they have an outstanding formula!

Cosmic Ocean over Cult Nails Time Traveler

Cosmic Ocean is a color shifting top coat that shifts from blue to green.

This is STUNNING. I think Cosmic Ocean and Cult Nails' Time Traveler were made for each other. When you apply Cosmic Ocean over a polish your eyes will light up! Cosmic Ocean is a magical polish. I will be purchasing the full size for sure!

Rogue

Rogue is a red jelly, filled with micro red, pink, and purple round and bar glitters.

This is a fun polish! I love the brightness of the base, and that it is a jelly. The glitter in this compliments it nicely. The glitter doesn't overwhelm the jelly base, and they pair well together. The formula is awesome too. This does not apply like typical glitter polish. It's very smooth.

Purple Potion

Purple Potion is a purple base with deep purple, blue, fuchsia, copper and scattered holo glitter.

This is super sparkly! It was a little too sparkly for my camera. This polish has so much dimension with the addition of different color glitters. It also has great formula. This has a smooth application. I do think it does benefit from top coat, like most glitters it does dry a bit on the matte side.

You can order Girly Bits polishes from Pam. She sells 5ml bottles  for $6 and 15ml bottles for $10. The only exceptions are Street Magic, Shift Happens, and Cosmic Ocean where the minis sells for $7 and the larger bottles are $11.50 Her shop is currently closed, but she will re-open soon!

**These products were sent to me for review by Pam's Girly Bits.

Girly Bits Shift Happens

I think it was around a year or so ago the coveted Clarins 230 had a bit of price drop on eBay. Instead of $100+ it was going for around $60-$80. I know quite a few people who hopped on that bandwagon and picked themselves up a bottle. Me? No way! Too high for me! Then recently across the pond Max Factor released Fantasy Fire a tiny bottle of polish very similar to Clarins 230. I was not going to jump through hoops to get that. Plus, the bottle is so stinking small.

Now this is where Girly Bits comes in. I reviewed some of her products a little while ago. She has created her own line of polishes. One of these colors is called Shift Happens. This is a near dupe to Clarins 230 and Fantasy Fire. It has the exact same color morphing effect. The only difference is it is in more a clear base versus a purple. I actually prefer this because it opens up your layering options. It is stunning!

Shift Happens over Urban Outfitters Bandeau

I got the idea for this color combo from Once Bitten. She wore Fantasy Fire over Bandeau at our meetup on Saturday. It looked fantastic!

Shift Happens over Cult Nails Time Traveler

Shift Happens is a multichrome shimmer that shifts the colors pink, red, orange, and yellow.

The color shift is going to be somewhat dependent on what color you use as your base. If you're using blues or violets the reds, pinks, and oranges will pop. If you're using black you'll will more likely see the full spectrum of colors it shifts. Regardless, it is absolutely stunning. You could put this on tuna fish and it would be gorgeous. I do not recommend that though.

This is a must have! Stop bidding on eBay for Clarins 230 or searching high and low for Max Fantasy Fire. Shift Happens is your answer! I purchased the full size bottle of this from Pam directly for $11.50+ shipping. She also sells the mini bottles for $7.00. Her shop is currently closed, but in the meantime you can purchase Shift Happens from Llarowe for $13.00. It is well worth it!

Happy Monday!

Girly Bits Sea's the Day Polishes

One of the coolest trends I've been seeing lately in the nail polish blogging world is creative bloggers creating their own polishes. I really like this trend. I think bloggers/nail addicts know what the nail polish people love most. One of these creative people is a Canadian blogger, Pam. Pam, has started up her own line of polishes called "Girly Bits". She does all of the work herself in mixing the colors and filling the orders! Her first collection is called "Sea's the Day" and the colors I received are awesome from color to formulation.

Stormy Skies

Stormy Skies is a gray with slight-blue undertones jelly with gold/green microglitter.

This color is beautiful! I saw Pam's swatch of this before she started selling her polishes and I was instantly in love with it. Gray-jelly-glitter = happy camper. The formula on this was smooth and applied evently. The glitter in here is remisnicent of the glitter in BB Couture polishes like Hermosa Surfer Girl and Horned Devil.

Razzle Dazzle

Razzle Dazzle is a raspberry jelly with scarttered pink/purple holograhpic glitter.

When I first saw this polish in the bottle, I admit I was scared. Usually, glitters like this mean clunky and thick formula. I was pleasantly surprised this was not the case with Razzle Dazzle. It was not even the slightest issue at all. This applied like a creme or shimmer. The formula like Stormy Skies, was smooth, easy to work with, and applied evening. Did I mention this color rocks too?

Street Magic over WnW Black Creme

Street Magic is a duochrome color shifting top coat. This flashes green, gold, copper, amber and etc.

Color Shifting polishes these days are rarity, so this a joy to have. It is gorgeous, you get a different look depending on the angle and lighting you look at it under. The formula was equally as great with this polish as the others.

Overall, I love these polishes. The colors are original. The formula is spot on. In fact, I found the formula of these superior to many of the traditional brands. Plus, these are done by a blogger. That makes them extra special. Great collection by Girly Bits! I will be ordering some of the other colors when I'm not in the hole from holiday shopping!

To see the rest of the colors in the collection and how to order check out Girly Bits ordering page
