NYX Pink Metal

Pink Metal is soft metallic pink.

Color: Along with nudes and neutrals I love nude and neutral metallic shades too! This one caught my eye at the NYX store. I love the pinky tone to it so it doesn't look so stark against my skin tone which I find with some silver or silvery white metallic shades. It's shiny, but it's also soft at the same time.

Formula: The formula on this is sheerer than I'd prefer. It took 3 coats to the get the opacity and I still found it to be a bit sparse in spots. It's not a bad formula and was very easy to work with, it just could be more opaque.

Price: This was $5 at the NYX store.

Overall: I do like this shade. I love the soft metallic pink and I find the color flattering. The formula could be bit more opaque for my liking. It's nice, but it's not the greatest.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 Paint Splatters

NYX Sweet Sin

Today, I have an NYX polish to share with you. NYX polishes are sold on their website or their retail stores only which is unfortunate because they really make some great polishes. I wish they were more readily available!

Sweet Sin
Sweet Sin is a purple-gray mauve with a bronze shimmer.

Collection: NYX Core

Color: Yes! I love this color. This is an awesome neutral purple paired with a gorgeous fiery bronze shimmer. I love this color combination. I don't see colors like this often I appreciate NYX having it in their line up.

Formula: This had a nice a smooth formula. I used 2 coats above.

Price: This is $5 on the NYX website or in a NYX store.

Overall: Excellent polish. I adore this color and that bronze shimmer. The formula was great and the price was awesome too. I just wish they sold NYX polishes in other stores.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 *Golden* Paint Splatters

NYX Deep Grape

How is it already September? It will be Christmas before we know it. Time flies the older you get and I'm not sure I like that very much. Since it's September now let's start out with a vampy color. I purchased this one from newest NYX Cosmetics store in Orlando. I think I'm going to have to go back there and pick up some more of their polishes because I really like the colors I have so far.

Deep Grape
Deep Grape is a deep burgundy creme.

Collection: Core

Color: You can't go wrong with colors like this. This fall I'm really into either soft nude colors or deep vampy colors, no in between. This is a rich and deep red-violet that looks really chic and sophisticated on the nail.

Formula: This had a pretty good formula. Colors like this are not very forgiving if you get outside the lines as you can see on my pinky. That's to be expected though with colors like these. The formula was smooth, but I did need 3 coats for opacity.

Price: This was $5 at the NYX store, but it can be purchased for the same price on their online store.

Overall: This is a great all-around vampy color. It's not really unique I know, but it's a solid nail polish staple color. I love the richness of this shade and how elegant it looks on the nails.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 Paint Splatters

NYX Seattle Storm

I was really excited to know that NYX Cosmetics opened up a store at a mall near me. NYX is definitely my favorite drugstore beauty brand. I especially love their lip products. I was really excited to be able to see all of their products in one place. Ulta has a pretty good selection, but it's nothing like having a whole store dedicated to NYX products. The store was tiny, but one of the first things that caught my eye is that they sold nail polish in their store. NYX has gone through a few bottle designs and lines of nail polish, but I've never seen them in a store. I was drawn to this color in the store and had to pick it up.

Seattle Storm
Seattle Storm is a grey-beige with a hint of lavender creme.

Collection: Core

Color: We saw the emergence of these greige/gravender colors in 2010-2012, but they haven't lost their appeal to me. I find myself more drawn to colors like this now than I did back then. I love a great neutral especially in those transitional times of seasons. It's still summer, but I'm ready for fall. I just don't want to dive into fall all the way yet. These are the types of colors I reach for now. It's a great color for any occasion or season really.

Formula: I wasn't really expecting much with this formula, but I loved it. It was perfection. It wasn't too thick or too thin. I felt the brush was great too and I had full control of the formula and application. I used 2 coats here.

Price: This is $5 at NYX Cosmetics stores or on their website.

Overall: Seattle Storm is a great neutral creme. I love this color because it's so sophisticated and chic without being ordinary. The formulation on this was excellent and even the price is great considering how much nail polish is these days. This is a definite win for me.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 *Golden* Paint Splatters

NYX Girls Collection Noir

I've been digging the blackened shades this fall. I love the almost black shimmers, cremes, or black cremes mixed with richly colored microglitters. I think those have been the only shades I've been getting this fall. I've pretty much neglected anything else. I got this NYX Girls beauty off of Cherry Culture. It was a shot in the dark since I hadn't seen any swatches, but I love it.

Collection Noir
Collection Noir is a black creme mixed with gold, copper, & bronze microglitter.

I think this one is one of those that is on the line of a miroshimmer/microglitter. I'm going to go ahead and call it a microglitter based on the fact that the sparkly particles are easy to detect versus a shimmer where they will blend into the base color. I sure hope that made sense. This a gorgeous color. I love the warm-toned glitter mixed in the black base. This kind of reminds me of a glittery version of China Glaze Wagon Trail.

Happy Thursday!

NYX Maroon

Is there such thing as a jelly shimmer? I'm sure there are, but I haven't really seen many, or really at all that I can think of of the top of my head. I'm used to seeing regular jellies and jelly glitters, but I don't think there are many jelly shimmers out there in the market. Well, I think there should be because I found a jelly shimmer from NYX and it rocks!

Maroon
Maroon is a maroon jelly base with gold/maroon micro-shimmer mixed in.

What is so cool about this polish is I'm not sure if it looks as much jelly-like as it does syrup-like. I know too many descriptions there. The base of this polish definitely has this translucence to it that makes it look like liquid rubies. It's so hard to describe, but I think it's evident it's not your standard shimmer. It's definitely not sheer either, so that must mean it's a jelly shimmer? It's truly a unique polish, and I don't own anything like it.

You can find this polish on Cherry Culture.

NYX Girls Dreamy Glitter

I don't usually get funky glitters, but when I saw this NYX Girls polish. I had to get it. It was just so pretty! I absolutely love NYX Girls polishes. They have some of the best glitters, and for an excellent price. I just wish I could find these in stores vs. online. I have found a few at Urban Outfitters, but not for the best price. :(

Dreamy Glitter over Eva Powder Blue
Dreamy Glitter Mattified
Dreamy Glitter is a pink/gold-toned iridescent microgliter, large hexogo glitter, and pink star glitter suspended in a clear base.

I love this glitter! It reminds me of something out of My Little Pony or The Care Bears. I know, very silly, but that's what it reminds me of. This is really a great and girly glitter. I haven't been into layering lately, perhaps it's because I haven't found something as unique as this. I'll definitely be layering this neat polish!

Happy Wednesday!

NYX Girls Maven

**I still have quite a few items available on my blog sale. I added new items on Saturday!**

I just got done shopping for some giveaway items. You should expect a giveaway to be posted on Friday! :) It's a hot one out there. I have a lot to do today, but I'm already beat and it's just past 1:00pm. The heat sucks the life out of you. I have for you today a pretty NYX Girls glitter. I'm craving this now, it looks so icy cool!

Maven over Milani Fresh Teal
Maven is aqua iridescent glitter top coat.

I love this glitter. I love how this is specifically an aqua iridescent glitter. It flashes shades of blue and green. There are tons of iridescent glitters out there, but many of them have a white or golden translucent base. I don't see many iridescent glitters with a colored translucent base. Does that make any sense? Probably not. I'm rambling. Great pretty glitter, it's definitely not a color I already have. Yadda..yadda. yadda.... I need a pina colada.

Happy Tuesday!

NYX Las Vegas

Boo, I have a bad cold. I'm glad I got it now rather than last week when I was away, but it still sucks! I have a pretty NYX polish for you today, and it's green! There are greens I do actually like! I actually do like greens, they just don't work well on me, but the darker they are the more likely they are to work.

Las Vegas
Las Vegas is a deep emerald jelly with green micro shimmer.

Fantastic color! You can't go wrong with a jelly and this type of shimmer. This kind of reminds me of a possible cousin to China Glaze Emerald Sparkle with more jelly-ness, and more of shimmer than a glitter.

Happy Thursday!

NYX GIrls Turks & Caicos

I'm getting in the vacation spirit. On Sunday, I'm leaving for a week long Caribbean cruise. I cannot wait! I haven't been on vacation in 4 years. I'm definitely looking forward to the relaxation.I'll miss you guys though. You all want to come in my suitcase? No worries, I'll be having some guest posts next week. Anywho, I figured this was a nice NYX color to get in the Caribbean spirit, although I'm not going to Turks & Caicos. Oh well!

Turks & Caicos

Turks & Caicos over Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue
Turks & Caicos is a sheer medium blue jam packed with intense iridescent glitter.

This color reminds me a lot of the China Glaze specialty glitters as far as consistency. This is buildable, but it takes around 4 coats. I personally prefer this layered. I think it looks great over the blue, but I'm sure it would look great over other colors!

Happy Monday!

Dupe Alert!: NYX Girls Dorothy

Deborah Lippman's Ruby Red Slippers has been under my radar since it came out. I love Deborah Lippman glitters, they are some of my all time favorites. That being said, I only own one DL polish, Across the Universe. That's a purchase I definitely do not regret. The problem we all know with these is that they are usually $16-$18. That price for me is prety exorbitant! I think probably one of the most satisfying things in nail polish world is finding a incredibly cheaper alternative to a freaking expensive polish. So, that's what I have for you today.

NYX Girls Dorothy
Dorothy is a black jelly base loaded with small and large hexagonal red glitter.

If you'd like to compare here is a swatch of Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers on lacquerized.

I found this one on Cherry Culture for $3. I think people who can find NYX in their area may find this cheaper. I'm finding with the NYX polishes I purchased that they do amazing glitters. They are not all dupes to Deborah Lippman polishes, but they definitely have some glitter polishes that come mixed in colored jelly bases. So, you will find some colors with similar effects to Across the Universe, Ruby Red Slippers, Lady Sings the Blues, & etc.

Happy Monday!

Cherry Culture Haul & Moo Cards

I recently did a Cherry Culture haul, and I'll put it on record it's probably one of the best hauls I've ever done! I always have seen nail polish on Cherry Culture, but I always held back from purchasing because majority of the polishes I could never find swatches of. I then saw this haul from Bonny Binnacle, and it pushed me over the edge. I'm going to take a risk!

I ended up ordering 11 polishes, 9 NYX and 2 Sinful Colors. I was able to see a few swatches, but I'd say 8 out of the 11 of these I relied on the swatches on the website, which is never a good guide. When I got my package yesterday, I was over the moon!

 L-R: NYX Girls
Maven, Complex Purple, Collection Noir, & Emerald Forest

L-R: NYX Girls
Frizz Spots, Turks & Caicos, & Dorothy (I'm pretty sure this is a dupe to Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers

L-R: NYX
Las Vegas & Maroon

L-R: Sinful Colors
Suede Shoes & Agaci

I am so impressed with these polishes. A few of these polishes are better for layering, but there are quite a few that are opaque within a reasonable amount of coats. If you are a glitter lover these are most definitely for you. These are some of the most unique glitters I've ever encountered! It's safe to say I'm sure some of these polishes will make it into my Top 20 of 2011! I of course, will be posting swatches of these soon! :)

I also went ahead and made some mini moo cards for my blog. These are small sized business cards. I learned about these through The PolishAholic & Once Bitten. You can really be creative and customize these cards to your liking. On the other hand, if you're not in the creative spirit , you can go a very simple route. They have a lot of templates you can choose from, fonts, colors and etc. This is what I did.  I know these are probably a little yawn-worthy to some, but I like the simple right now! I only got a 100 cards to start, so maybe later on I'll create some more exciting ones.

I like the design I chose for the back. It's not only that design, but there are quite a few different "painted" looking designs. I think the design suited my blog name. I like them. They're cute, and they'll be fun to put in giveaway and swap packages! :)

Happy Friday!

NYX Pacific Blue & Gilded Glitter

Earlier this week I got great nail mail from Cristina at Let them have Polish! She found some polishes she thought I'd like because they reminded her of my RBL dream color idea. She got me these two great NYX polishes. I don't have any NYX polishes so I was excited to get these!

Pacific Blue

Pacific Blue is an intense medium-deep blue shimmer.

Gilded Glitter over Pacific Blue (I adjusted the lighting on this to make it more color accurate, my flash tends to wash blues out for me)
Gilded Glitter is glitter top coat with different shaped gold giltter pieces.

Gorgeous! I love the gold on top of the blue. Cristina was right, this definitely does remind me of my dream color. This looks just like lapis lazuli. Great combination.

Thank you so much Cristina!

Happy Saturday!
