OPI Hello Hawaii Ya?

I went to a few Bealls Outlet stores recently and spotted the motherload of OPIs from collections as far back as the Germany Fall 2012 collection. Bealls Outlet is the outlet of Bealls which I'd compare to a Kohls. Bealls Outlet is like a Ross, but I think they have better finds especially when it comes to beauty items. I know Bealls stores are in FL, GA, and AZ, but they have a sister store called Burke's which I believe are more widespread?

I hauled a handful of old OPIs from Bealls Outlet a few weeks ago for $4 a pop! That's a steal considering these colors are not discontinued and still sell at retail for around $10. One of the colors I picked up was this color from the 2015 Hawaii collection.

Hello Hawaii Ya?
Hello Hawaii Ya? is a dusty purple-gray creme.

Collection: OPI Hawaii Spring/Summer 2015

Color: I love how perfectly dusty and muted this color is. I miss dusty colors and they're a color I see myself gravitating toward this upcoming spring. The color is rich and muted, but it's still a color I think is fresh and unique.

Formula: This had a great formula. It was smooth and easy to use. I used 2 coats above.

Price: I paid $4 for it at Bealls Outlet, if you have one of those near you or a Burke's Outlet be sure to check it out! I know this retails for $10, but you may also be able to find it on e-tailers for less.

Overall: I really am enjoying this shade from OPI. This shade didn't catch my eye two years ago, but it did now. It shows that my tastes are ever evolving with nail polish. I often find myself going back and purchasing shades I "poo-pooed" when they first were released. This is a great color that is unique and pretty.

OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around

If you've been reading my blogs lately you know I've mentioned I'm on a nude/neutral polish kick. I've never really been into polishes these for an extended period of until now. I'm still in it, though I've been venturing into more colors lately. I picked this OPI shade up recently in the midst of my new nude polish obsession and I'm kicking myself for not getting it before.

Don't Bossa Nova Me Around
Don't Bossa Nova Me Around is a creamy pinky-toned nude creme.

Collection: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014

Color: The trickiest part about nudes and why I used to shy away from them was because it's hard to find flattering nude shades for my skin tone. I need colors that are either beige or have some pink in them. If they veer anywhere into yellow territory it's a no go. This is a great nude. It is so flattering and such a fresh and chic color.

Formula: This had a good formula. It was easy to apply. I used 2 coats.

Price: This is part of OPI's core line now and it can be purchased in stores for around $10, but try to find a steal on e-tailer!

Overall: I'm really happy I came across this polish. This is such a great nude color and it maybe my favorite I own. I love the clean look of this color and how it flatters my skin tone. I think this is a must have polish in my book. Did I mention I love Bossa Nova music? It's one of my favorites. I'm often typing up blog posts to the Bossa Nova station on Pandora.

OPI Tiramisu For Two

I have been going through a major nude polish phase. I think it started in mid-July and it has continued for the past month and a half. The thing is I don't have a lot of nude polishes. One, I've never really worn them often. Two, I always thought it was difficult to find nudes that work with my skin tone. Well, I was wrong. I went to Ulta recently and looked at OPI's core line of colors and found a handful of nudes that I think really work with my skin tone. This one I was most shocked by because it really is a true nude for my skin tone versus a pinky nude which I'm used to having to get.

Tiramisu for Two
Tiramisu For Two is a beige almond creme.

Collection: OPI Venice Fall 2015

Color: I would have never assumed I could have worn this color. It's really the perfect nude for my skin tone. It's actually pretty neutral in my opinion. It's not too yellow or pink, it's right in between. I am so in love with this shade. It's so clean, fresh, and flattering.

Formula: This had a pretty good formula. It was a teeny bit thick, but it is opaque. I used 2 coats in this swatch.

Price: I paid $10 for this Ulta.

Overall: I've been into nail polish for 8 years now, and it took until now to find a true nude for my skin tone. I'm really excited to have found this shade. This is a great color and I'd imagine since it is pretty neutral it would be pretty forgiving for most people. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Throwbacks Week: OPI DS Glamour

Last month's Throwbacks Week I featured an OPI DS color and I've decided to do the same. I really had a good look at my polish stash a little while ago while doing a destash. When I came across my OPI DS colors I knew they would definitely be staying, especially this one.

DS Glamour
DS Glamour is a denim blue holographic.

Collection: OPI Designer Series 2007

Color: What is there to say? This is a fantastic color. You'd expect in 2007 they'd either do a pastel blue or a dark blue, but this denim blue is amazing. The holo effect in this is very crisp and bright. I'd call this a scattered/linear combo as far as holos go.

Formula: Excellent formula that has stayed in tact for 9 years. I used 2 coats here. This one applies beautifully.

Price: You can catch this on eBay every so often, but it's usually pretty pricey.

Overall: This is an all star polish. It's an amazing and beautiful blue. The holo effect is spectacular. Again, what else is there to say? Glamour speaks for itself.

Throwbacks Week: OPI DS Ruby

It's time for another week of throwbacks! I recently decided to destash my overgrown collection and came across this pretty. No worries, I decided this one needed to stay! OPI DS holos are some of the best holos around up into this day. This one I remember snagging in a blog sale a few years ago.

DS Ruby
DS Ruby is a cherry red holographic.

Collection: OPI Designer Series 2006 (?)

Color: This is a great red holo. This red leans more on lighter red side. I'd almost say it has the slightest hint of pink to it. The holo effect in this is more scattered than linear, but it still has a strong holo effect. You can see those rainbows!

Formula: Excellent formula. I used 2 coats here. It applies beautifully.

Price: You can sometimes still snag one of these on eBay in the $50 range.

Overall: I love this red holo. It's a beautifully nostalgic blast from the past polish. The newer DS polishes definitely do not have this same diamond dust added to them as the older ones do. These older DS polishes are something special and I'm happy to have this one.

OPI Rich Girls & Po-Boys

I was impressed by OPI's New Orleans collection for spring/summer. OPI isn't a brand that has impressed me much in recent years. This collection is the first collection that I have really liked in probably 4 years. I picked up Rich Girls & Po-Boys from this collection and really like it.

Rich Girls & Po-Boys
Rich Girls & Po-Boys is a bright sky blue creme.

Collection: OPI New Orleans Spring/Summer 2016.

Color: I love the vibrancy of this blue shade. It's so refreshing to see a mid-tone blue like this. It's always the same pastel blues for spring. This color has some pop! I love this happy blue.

Formula: Excellent 2 coat formula. I think OPI improved their formulas. OPI formulas have never been ideal for me and this one was great.

Price: I got this off eBay for around $5. I recommend searching for this on e-tailers. I'm not paying the new $10 price for OPIs.

Overall: Gorgeous blue polish. I love the saturation and brightness of this blue. The formula is excellent. This is just one of those polishes that doesn't need me to say much. It speaks for itself.

Throwbacks Week: OPI Feel the Mo-heat-oes

This is the time of year where I've fully transitioned into spring and summer colors. No more neutrals no more dark colors. I'm a very seasonal nail polish person. I don't match my nail polish to the season because I feel like I have to. I just really like to! We don't really have seasons in Florida, so changing up my color palette seasonally is the only way I really feel like the year is going by. Plus, I don't really feel like wearing dark vampy colors in April or neon yellow in November. This OPI throwback has been a go-to polish for me the past two years.

Feel the Mo-heat-oes
Feel the Mo-heat-oes is a pastel mint green creme.

Collection: Hello, Flamingo! CosmoProf Exclusive Summer 2014

Color: I love this shade of mint because it's really unique to my collection even though I have plenty of mint greens. This one is more of a true mint green in my opinion because it leans almost exclusively to the green side and doesn't really have any blue undertones.

Formula: The formula on this polish is excellent especially for being a pastel shade. I was surprised. I used 3 coats.

Price: This was a set sold exclusively to CosmoProf stores for licensed beauty professionals only. I'm not one of those, but I got this on eBay at the time. I still see this available on e-tailers in this $10-$20 range. It's a bit pricier because of it's exclusivity.

Overall: This is definitely one of my favorite greens. My only complaint is the name. The name is great, it's just a PITA to type and remember where the hyphens go. First world problem, I know! Besides that, it's a great color. I love the formula and it's one of my favorite OPI polishes.

OPI She's A Bad Muffuletta!

I have another polish from the OPI New Orleans collections to share with you today. This is probably the color that caught my eye the most. I love punchy red cremes especially as we transition into summertime especially on my toes. Shes A Bad Muffuletta! fits that bill and looks like it maybe my go-to pedi color this summer.

She's A Bad Muffuletta!
She's A Bad Muffuletta is a vibrant pinkish-red creme.

Collection: OPI New Orleans Spring/Summer 2016

Color: This a great punchy color. This isn't neon, but it's bright and definitely makes a statement. I love the hint of pink to this shade too. This is one of those colors in my eyes that you can't go wrong with and would suit nearly everyone.

Formula: Excellent formula. OPI formulas are usually a bit streaky and uneven for me. This one is perfect. It applied opaquely and evenly in 2 coats.

Price: This is $10 in stores, but I bought it on eBay for around $7. I highly recommend finding this on etailers as I can't swallow paying $10 for OPI now.

Overall: This is a great vibrant and fun color in this collection. I love the intensity of this shade and that it's not a true red. True reds get so boring. The hint of pink in this makes it fun and different. The formula was great and this just all-around solid great color.

OPI I Manicure For Beads

The mainstream polish is hanging by it's very last thread with me. I have just about given up. They just are not releasing anything noteworthy especially in the last year. OPI is brand I am almost always underwhelmed by in the past 3-4  years. It is actually OPI's New Orleans Spring/Summer collection I was most impressed by this year over any other brand. That being said, it's not a winning collection, but a few colors caught my eye like this one.

I Manicure For Beads
I Manicure For Beads is a dusty medium grape purple creme.

Collection: OPI New Orleans Spring/Summer 2016

Color: It's hard to find some interesting purple cremes these days, but this is one. I love the muted quality to this color. It really is a unique purple to my collection. It is muted, but it's still a bright color that pops. I also like that it's a medium purple for spring. We have way too many pastel purples and vampy purples out there.

Formula: This had an excellent formula. I don't think I've ever said that with OPI. OPI has never impressed me with their formula, but this one is great. This formula is creamy, smooth, and opaque. I used 2 coats above.

Price: This is $10 in stores, but I prefer to buy on eBay. I paid around $7 for this. I refuse to buy OPI in stores these days because I don't want to pay $10 per bottle! Search online to buy!

Overall: I'm really impressed with I Manicure For Beads. It's a fun and unique creme. I love that OPI produced something I really like this much. I love the formulation and I really can't complain. This is definitely my favorite mainstream polish so far this year.

OPI That's Hula-rious

The weirder the color the better? I'm often not drawn to weirder colors, but when I decide to pick one out they instantly become favorites. That's how it was with this OPI color. I knew I wanted it instantly, but it took me awhile to get around to getting it. I'm glad I have it now.

That's Hula-rious
That's Hula-rious is a pale mint green creme.

Collection: OPI Hawaii Spring/Summer 2015

Color: I know this color may not be weird to some, but it is for me. I'm not much of a green polish person, and much less a super pale green polish fan. I love mint green polishes, but most of the mint polishes I have lean more toward blue than green. This one is definitely green leaner. It's an unusual polish choice for me, but I absolutely love it. It's such a pretty and airy shade of green.

Formula: Excellent formula for a pastel color. I only needed 2 coats and found it to be smooth and easy to apply.

Price: You can purchase this on Amazon or eBay in the $6-$8 range.

Overall: I love this green creme. I think it's a very fun color while still being chic. I love colors that catch me by surprise.

Third Week Throwbacks: OPI Tease-y Does It

I feel somewhat similarly to OPI as I do to China Glaze I've never really been hugely into OPI. I know that's a shocker coming from a nail polish person as they seem to be the most recognized and desirable nail polish brand across the board. I don't know. They are so hot and cold for me, and more so cold as of late. 2010, as the trend seems to be this week they did really well, especially with their Burlesque collection. One of my favorites from that one is Tease-y Does It

Tease-y Does It
Tease-y Does It is a vampy red-plum base filled with a reddish pinky shimmer.

Collection: OPI Burleseque Holiday/Winter 2010

Color: This is one of those polishes that looks a little hum-drum in the bottle, but comes to life on the nail. This is a beautiful blackened base with a intense shimmer that glows on your nails. This is rich, intense, and shimmery all in one. I love colors like this.

Formula: Excellent two coat formula.

Price: Fear not. Tease-y Does It is still available on Amazon in the $10 range.

Overall: Beautiful rich and shimmery color. I think I've noticed a trend here this week in my throwback pics. I love deep jewel-toned colors with lot glowing shimmer and sparkle. Tease-y Does It ticks those boxes as do the others I showed you this week. I wish there were more polishes like this out in 2015! I guess my polish style is dated :(?

OPI Kiss Me- Or Elf!

I have another one of the holiday OPI Gwen Stefani polishes to share with you today. I know, this was in a holiday collection, but I think like I Carol About You this is a universal anytime of year color. For me, this is what I'd consider a transition color. This is a great in-between winter and spring color.

Kiss Me- Or Elf!
Kiss Me- Or Elf! is a glowing fuchsia shimmer.

Collection: OPI Gwen Stefani Holiday 2014

Color: This is like I Carol About You is one of those polishes that comes alive on the nail. In the bottle, it doesn't look very interested, but on the nail this glows! It's a beautiful color, but I wouldn't call it unique. My concern with this is while I love it on the nail, I may bypass it in my stash because it doesn't really pop in the bottle.

Formula: This was a smooth and easy to use formula. I used 2 coats above.

Price: This can be found on Amazon for $6.

Overall: I love the glowing effect the shimmer in Kiss Me- Or Elf! has. This is a very nice all around polish. I'm just not sure it's unique and flashy enough in the bottle to be memorable. This is one you really need to see on the nail to appreciate.

OPI I Carol About You

We're going back to Christmas today, but I really don't think this is a Christmas color outside the name. I totally bypassed the OPI Gwen Stefani holiday collection. It was either I didn't see anything that stood out to me or it had colors that I was sure I already owned. It was after the holidays I saw some swatches of some colors I determined I had missed out on few. This was one of them.

I Carol About You
I Carol About You is a medium-deep blue-toned purple with a pink shimmer.

Collection: OPI Gwen Stefani Holiday 2014

Color: When I saw this in the store all I could see was a purple creme. I have plenty of purple cremes. This is a very nice shade of purple though. What I didn't notice was the shimmer in this, which comes to life on the nail. It's a more subtle shimmer. I wish it was a bit stronger, but it still added a level of depth to this polish I really like.

Formula: Easy to use, 2 coat formula.

Price: You can find this on Amazon now for $6.75.

Overall: I like I Carol About You. This one was  surprise in a bottle for me. I love the richness of the color and the added shimmer was icing on the cake. I wish knowing that it did have shimmer, it was just a teeny bit more prominent, but I like it nonetheless.

OPI DS Tourmaline

I have something different to share with you today. I have one of the newer OPI Designer Series polishes. I haven't owned any recent ones of these, so this a nice little addition to my collection. I received this as gift in my Secret Santa gift exchange, and it was a nice surprise.

DS Tourmaline
DS Tourmaline is a medium bright pink base with iridescent shimmer and glitter.

 OPI DS Fall 2014

Color: This makes me miss great pink nail polish, because this is one. This color is bright and super sparkly. I love this, and it makes me wish there were more current pink nail polishes out there.

Formula: This is on the sheer side, but built up nicely in 3 coats.

Price: This is $12.50 at Ulta.

Overall: I like Tourmaline a lot.  The color is pretty and the added sparkle makes it special and unique. The price is a little steep, so I'm happy to have received it as a gift. Tourmaline does leave me longing for better pink nail polish though! Pinks don't have to be boring!

OPI Today I Accomplished Zero

I have a fun polish to share with you today. This one had been on my wishlist a couple of months, and I recently got in a Secret Santa exchange. This one is from the OPI Coca-Cola collection. I liked this one in particular, because it's the color that represents my favorite Coca-Cola product, Coke Zero. I love Coke Zero! Any other Coke Zero fans out there?

Today I Accomplished Zero
Today I Accomplished Zero is a black jelly base with pink glitter.

Collection: OPI Coca-Cola 2014

Color: This is a winning polish. I love black jelly glitter polishes, but rarely do I find one that doesn't drown out the glitter. The glitter and base in this are on level playing fields. The glitter pops against the base here for sure.

Formula: The formula on this is excellent. I only needed 2 coats, and it applied very smoothly and evenly. The formula on this impressed me, because other black jelly glitters I have do tend to have funky formulas.

Price: This one may take some searching, since I don't see it in stores anymore. An internet search will find you many e-tailers who sell this in the $8-$9.50 range.

Ovearll: I love this polish so much. One, it's named after my favorite kind of soft drink, Two, the color is outstanding. Three, the formula is great. Awesome polish!

OPI To Be Or Not To Beagle

I was really excited when I heard OPI was going to have a Peanuts collection. I love Snoopy. My room as a child was floor to ceiling Snoopy. I had Snoopy wallpaper, curtains, and the whole shebang.

I must say the polishes OPI put out were not really my thing, but the displays! How can I get one of the displays? Does anyone know? I did pick up the most Snoopy-themed polish of the bunch though which I have for you today.

To Be Or Not To Beagle over Cult Nails Wack Slacks
To Be Or Not To Beagle is a mix of multicolored matte hex glitters, black mini bar, and black hex glitters in a clear base.

Color: This is a fun glitter mix. I love the brightly colored matte glitters paired with the black. I will say at first I didn't get how this was any way Snoopy related, but by the looks of it these look like all the colors used in Peanuts comic strips.

Formula: This was an easy to use and apply formula. I didn't have any trouble applying the glitters. I used 2 coats over a base.

Price: I bought this on Amazon for around $7. I don't know where you can buy these in stores, but there are tons of listings on Amazon, eBay, and other etailers.

Overall: This is a fun glitter. I of course, love the theme. The colors in this are great and the formula is good.

OPI My Voice is a Little Norse

So what happened to November? I think everything transitions from Halloween to Christmas pretty quickly. I'm trying to hold back putting up holiday polishes now. I don't have a problem with the jump personally, but it does make me want to rush into holiday everything when I've barely tapped into fall stuff!

Speaking of fall, I do have one of the OPI fall Nordic polishes to share with you today. I'm a bit on the fence with this one.

My Voice is a Little Norse
My Voice is a Little Norse is a gray-toned sheer base with silvery-gray holographic glitter.

Color: I really like this color of this. I like that isn't not a straight up silver, however, I really wish this was more of a full coverage glitter.

Formula: The formula on this is alright. I used 3 coats above. Like, I said above I really wish this was an opaque glitter. I have tons of silvery holo glitters, I can use as toppers, and this really doesn't look very different in comparison to those layered. This on it's own though is deeper and richer in color, but I don't get the coverage I'd like. I'd never use this has a full mani because of this. I'm very picky about seeing my nail underneath. I have used it as an accent though which I like.

Price: I bought this in the $8-$9 range at Sally's Beauty Supply.

Overall: I really like the concept of this. The steely gray color is really nice, but it doesn't provide the coverage for me that I'd like. It's pretty there is nothing wrong with it, really, other than it doesn't quite meet all my expectations.
