Savina Wisteria

I've become a huge fan of Savina polishes. Every time I got to Nordstrom Rack, I'm more impressed by the color selection Savina has to offer. I'd say with all the colors I see Nordstrom Rack offer probably 60%-70% are colors that are unique to me, or have certain twists to standard colors that make them different. This next purple is a new love of mine.

Wisteria
Wisteria is a vibrant medium lavender with a silver/white glass fleck shimmer.

This kind of reminds me of a lavender creme if it were mixed with Orly Winter Wonderland. It looks like it has that same type of shimmer. This color is awesome. I feel so foolish reviewing colors I love because I don't know what else to say other than "I love it" "it's gorgeous" "awesome!". I think the color speaks for itself. Also, Savinas have .65 fl oz of polish which .15 fl oz more than most polishes. :)

Happy Monday!

Savina Morning Glory...Gray Jelly?!?

This was a total fluke. I was at Nordstrom Rack, and spotted this Savina polish. In the lighting at the store this looked very similar to Zoya Caitlin (a gray-purple/blue creme). When I got home it definitely looked more gray than a gray-blue, but it still looked like a creme. I then swatched it on a nail wheel and if it was any more sheer it would of been considered a clear polish, but this polish held a little secret.... (enter mysterious music)

Morning Glory
Morning Glory is a gray with a touch of blue jelly.

This around 3 coats. This built up nicely into a great jelly! I don't know about any gray jellies, so I'm excited about this. This isn't as "jelly-like" as some of the colors in OPI Texas, but it definitely has that "squishy" look to it. This color is a definite win! I will be getting a second  bottle to throw in a giveaway soon, because I think this greatness needs to be shared!

You can get this color at Nordstrom Rack or 8ty8 Beauty (the bottle pic it shows on 8ty8 is so inaccurate Morning Glory isn't teal!).

I have also posted my first blog sale. This is US only. Please be sure to check it out!

Savina Ocean Waves

I have to do a quick post today. I have massive amounts of work to do on a research paper, so it maybe like this for the rest of the week. Today, I have for you a great Savina polish I found. This is a brand I find at Nordstrom Rack that retails for $3.97 a bottle. You can also find them on 8ty8Beauty.

Ocean Waves
Ocean Waves is a medium aqua shimmer.

This is a great bright blue/green shimmer. I love aquas, turquoises, and teals, and this is no exception! I love the Savina brand. I think they are similar to China Glaze in the sense that they have a great selection of unique and funky colors. Also, I just realized that with Savina you get .65 fl oz of polish versus the standard .5, so this is nice plus!

Happy Monday!

Savina Emerald

Before I get into this post I wanted to share this amazing RBL contest that was posted on Ji's blog. You have the opportunity to submit your own idea for a color that could be voted into an RBL Fan Collection. This sounds like a blast! I already have a color in mind. I hope you guys take up this fun opportunity too!

How about  a short break from China Glaze? Here is a pretty Savina green I found!

Savina Emerald

Savina Emerald is a emerald green shimmer.

I know this isn't the most original color, but I love it. I love this lends more to to the blue side than the yellow. It also has a touch of black to that gives it a cool look a long the edges of my nails. I got this Savina polish at Nordstrom Rack. Did anyone get that Groupon for Nordstrom Rack that was pay $20 for a $50 gift card? I got one, and haven't spent it yet. It's expires Dec 31, so I'll go in a stock up on Savinas after Christmas!

Happy Thursday!

Savina Carnival &Tag

I really like Savina polishes. They can be found at Nordstrom Rack stores for around $4 a bottle. They have a similar bottle to China Glaze, but I think their selection of colors are pretty different. It's not a store I shop at often, but when I do I'm sure to pick up some of these!

Carnival

Carnival is a fun shade! This ia neon fuschia pink with holographic glitter. This is bright and sparkly. It dries matte, but you can fix that up with top coat if you don't like it.

I love this color. It's very fun. I love neon cremes, but I think neon colors with glitters especially holographic glitter are much more exciting! :)

I wanted to do this tag I saw on Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes blog yesterday. I thought the questions were fun. I tag anyone who would like to participate in this. Also, if you don't have a blog and would like to share your answers in the comments please do. :D

1. Favorite type of music/band?
I have a strange taste in music that is different from my age group. I enjoy the stuff my parents listened to in the 60's, 70's, & 80's. I love soft rock and cheesy love songs. I like bands like America and Chicago. I blame the road trips with parents and this was all we ever listened too. I also love any type of jazz. I like the mid-late 90's pop from when I was a pre-teen/teen. Oh, and I love Christmas music.

2. Heart's desire?
Right now I would LOVE a vacation. I miss the central coast of California. I'd love a trip to Cambria a small town on the sea with cute little shops and restaurants. It's very tranquil there. As far as the future. I'd love to teach high school World History or English Literature.

3. Most embarrassing TV show you watch regularly?
Oh geez, this question hits the jackpot. I love all the Real Housewives shows (or as my bf calls it "The Round Table of Bitches"), Jerseylicious, Degrassi, The Bad Girls Club,  America's/Britain's  Next Top Model, & sometimes Judge Judy..lol. I LOVE trash TV it keeps me sane. I realize I don't have that many problems after watching some of the people on these shows.

4. Favorite color?
That all depends on where the color is being used. In general I love aquamarines and rich deep reds. I wouldn't ever put the colors together.

5. What clique you fell into in high school?
I fell into the "non-existent" clique. I did not enjoy the social aspects of high school. I was rather reserved and insecure. I'm very different now.

6. Trend follower or setter?
I don't set trends, nor do I follow them. I could use some schooling in fashion. :P

7. Where do you love to vacation?
My favorite vacations were to Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, Central Coast CA, & England.

8. Favorite Disney character and why?
No doubt about it, Ariel. I loved Ariel since I was 3 years old. She'll always be my favorite princess. I always pretended to be a mermaid while swimming when I was younger. Plus, I never could stop singing "Part of Your World". I love her red hair too..I want red hair...maybe not THAT red.

9. What is your security blanket?
This is embarrassing. My security blanket is literally a blanket..well a piece of it. I still have a piece of my baby blanket I had as a baby. This is truly sad, but when I'm stressed out if I hold on to it for awhile it does calm me down and make me feel better. I'm 24 I need to grow up. I know :P

10. Favorite nail polish brand and why?
This is hard. I'd have to say Zoya. I like their color selection and of course the amazing gold shimmer they have in so many polishes. I find their shimmers and glitters to be really unique too.

Happy Monday!

Savina Coy - Fragrance Recommendations?

Savina polishes are brand that can be found at Nordstrom Rack. They are around $4.00 a bottle and in some ways they are similar to China Glaze. Savina has their own unique colors, but I find some of them comparable to China Glaze colors, this is the case with the color Coy. Obviously, you'd be better off getting the China Glaze color in these instances because it's easier to get your hands on and you can get it cheaper from e-tailers.

Coy

Coy is a bright reddish-coral creme. This a great color. I think every nail polish collection needs a color like this. I'd consider this a "go-to" color. It's not an unique color, but it's a color that you go-to when you're not sure what to paint your nails that would work with anything.

That being said I found this to be very similar to China Glaze High Hopes from the Up & Away spring collection.

Index & Ring fingers-Savina Coy/ Middle & Pinky fingers-China Glaze High Hopes
These are not dupes, but they are close. China Glaze High Hopes has more orange in it while Savina Coy is slightly more red. They are both great cremes, but I don't think you'd need both. Even though some Savina colors are similar to China Glaze they are not all the same. They have some unique colors that I haven't seen from any other brands. If you have a Nordstrom Rack in your area they're definitely worth a look!

That's it for nail polish today. I do have a question for you all though. I'm looking for some fall-like fragrances for this season. I don't need anymore perfumes. I have about 5 bottles of perfume, and I only wear those on nights out or special occasions. I'm looking for body sprays from like Bath & Body Works, Body Shop, Target, and etc. Stuff you can get for under $20.

Scents I like:
-rich
-warm
-sometimes spicy
-sensual scents
-clean
-citrus
-rose
-Some florals as long as they're are not overly sweet or powdery smelling

Scents I hate:
-GARDENIA YUCK!
-Candy/Cupcake/Baked good scents anything overly sweet (I like vanilla as long as it's not too sweet)

Haha, I hope that's not too complicated, but I'm always looking for suggestions, because I'm clueless when it comes to fragrances! Any recommendations? :)

Thanks everyone!

Happy Saturday!

Savina Fireworks & Birthday Goodies!

I wanted to share with you another one of the Savina polishes I got. I'm really loving this brand more and more! I just hope they don't decide to take them away again for a period of time like the one time I visited Nordstrom Rack! Nordstrom Rack please keep your Savinas!

Fireworks
I did the swatch this way because I think this would be a great layering polish. I quite like it on its own, but I think it maybe better layered on top of something! Fireworks is a warm-pink sheer base with iridescent glitter and holographic bar glitter mixed in. I love this type of glitter. I don't usually find two types of glitters mixed into one polish. I think this looks amazing over a dark colored polish. It's blingy, but I wouldn't call it overbearing. It has a very interesting layered glitter effect that is neat!

Now on to some non-nail polish birthday goodies. On my birthday I went to Target and bought some accessories. Let me just say I'm am fashion challenged. I literally had zero accessories with the exception of maybe 3 bracelets and 1 necklace. I don't need fancy things, but I wanted to a get few things just to throw on to embellish an outfit. Oy, will someone sign me up for "How Do I Look" or "What Not To Wear"?

Here are some of the things I got...these could be hideous or completely fashion police worthy. I really don't know since I'm fashion challenged, but I liked them :P.
These are two necklaces I got. The on the left is like 3 necklaces layered silver chain, silver chain with white ribbon woven through, and another silver chain with pearl-like beads. The necklace on the right is an antique-like gold owl. I love owls and thought this was kinda neat looking.

I got these sets of bangles. I have feeling bangles are so 1990 or something like that. The one of the left are a set of silver and gold ones with different textures. The one on the right are black and silver mixed bangles with different textures and embellishments.

Last but not least here was my small little birthday cake from Target bakery LOL :P. It wasn't personalized just one picked up last minute. It did the job!
It was chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing...OMG soooo good!

Happy Thursday!

Savina Black Pearl

I first want to thank all of you for all your birthday wishes yesterday. I really appreciate each and everyone of you and you all made my birthday extra special! :) <3

Savina Black Pearl is one of those jackpot colors. The wonder of Black Pearl is that is a beautiful duochrome, depending on the angle and light you see a different shade. While doing a tad bit of research and image searching on black pearls it seems to be that case that black pearls are not really a true black color. They do have a duchrome quality ranging from blue-purple-green-silver. This polish did an excellent job of capturing that. The only down side is that this Black Pearl polish doesn't come with Captain Jack Sparrow, but I think we'll live!

To give you an accurate representation of Black Pearl I captured the polish from different angles and different types of light so you can see what I'm talking about.

This is Black Pearl straight on with flash. It looks like a standard frosty teal. There isn't anything wrong with that, but this polish is way more interesting than that!

Here is a side view of it with flash. At this angle it looks more like a grey-blue-teal frost.

This is under a lamp. Here is where you can see the duochrome factor. It's a frosty-grey-blue with a hint of grey-purple duochrome.
This is another angle under the lamp. Here it looks like a frosty steel with a hint of blue.
Again another angle under the lamp. This one showing a hint more of the grey-purple duochrome.

Yeah. Suffice it to say, I am in love with Black Pearl. What an amazing color that plays tricks with your eyes! It's so different anyway you look at it, and for $4 you cannot go wrong what a winning polish! It's polishes like these that keep the nail polish world exciting. I really think some brands need to do a collection soley based on duochromes. I think that would be a winning collection all around!

Happy Tuesday

P.S. I'm getting in a China Glaze haul from Victoria Nail Supply! Swatches will come soon. I got some polishes from Vintage Vixen, Rodeo Diva, Retro Diva, and Up & Away!

Savina Purple Hologram & Purple Confetti

I showed you all yesterday some Savina polishes I got. I figured I'd start out showing you 2 of them. Savina polishes I believe are only sold at Nordstrom Rack stores. They are $3.97 a bottle and are some of my favorites. I think they have been compared to China Glaze. The only thing I personally can say makes them similar to China Glaze is their bottle shape and their unique colors. Their colors aren't all dupes of China Glaze colors if anyone was wondering that.

Savina has their share of standard colors, but they also have a very nice selection of unique shimmers, glitters, duochromes, neons,  and etc that make them stand out. I find their more special colors to be comparable to beauty store brands rather than drugstore brands. All the colors I got are not colors I've been able to find from other brands. Overall, they get an A+ from me!

Here are the pretty purples! :)

Purple Confetti
Purple Confetti is a red-violet jelly packed with holographic glitter. If you love glitter and lots of bling there is no denying the color doesn't offer just that. I love this color! I'm not scared of glitter and this one definitely packs a punch! It's very fun and I love that the base of it is a jelly!

Purple Hologram
Purple Hologram is a lilac creme with holographic glitter. This is probably has just as much glitter as Purple Confetti, but it comes off a lot subtler because the base a lighter color. I love this one too. It's a very sweet girly color. It makes me think of unicorns and fairies for some reason...I'm weird I know this!

That's it for today! I'm so glad I found these. The last time I went to Nordstrom Rack they didn't not have Savina polishes out at all. I had went a few months prior to that that and they had a whole wall full. This past time they seemed to have downgraded their selection to only a few small racks, but that's ok I'm glad it's back!

Do you own any Savina polishes? Any favorites or colors you really want?

Happy Saturday!
