Sephora by OPI Metro Chic & On Stage

Note: I've added a formspring box on my sidebar. You can use that to ask me any questions you like..nail polish related or not.

You know what I've noticed? Many nail polish addicts seem to be a season ahead when it comes to color choices or eager to be in the next season. I read many posts on nail boards, twitter, and other blogs about how even though it's summer people are wanting to wear more fall-like colors or vampy shades.

I do this too. Of course, I put on my share of bright colors, but I always am craving the more deep, muted, and rich shades. In winter, I was ready to go with bright pastel. I think it maybe because we wear out the season too soon. We get all excited about the new season of colors sport them regularly and then we're ready for change. Also, it doesn't help to get promo pics from nail brands of their upcoming seasons colors! I don't think anyone needs to wear shades appropriate for the season. You can wear whatever you want when you want, I'm just making an observation. :P

Speaking of more muted and fall-like colors I'm going to share with you the rest of the Sephora by OPI shades I purchased recently.

On Stage

On Stage is what I would describe as a medium muted lavender/plum creme. I'd consider it a neutral where it could go with anything. I don't know what it is, but this color seems very hip to me. I'm not a trendy person. Instead of "That's so last season!" I'm more like "That's so 10 years ago". I am clueless, but this color seems trendy to me.

Metro Chic

Metro Chic is a medium purple-toned grey taupe. This color got a ton of buzz last fall, so I knew I wanted to purchase it when I had the gift card. I think this and On Stage a very similar as far as being a neutral muted shade. I really like this one.

I'm very proud of myself. I have to admit before I started blogging I was very close minded about colors. I stuck to what I thought looked good on me and didn't venture elsewhere. Lately, I've been interested in trying out colors I dismissed before. The shades above are great examples. Muted shades and taupes never appealed to me before, but after trying these out I'm in love!

Do you find yourself craving fall colors even though it's summer (or the opposite for my S. Hemisphere friends)?

Are there colors or finishes you've dismissed before, but are now interested in trying or have found out you love?

Have a great Saturday!

Sephora by OPI- Mr. Right Now

Have you ever purchased a color and then got home thinking how that color doesn't seem that exciting and you probably already have a color similar? However, when you finally put it on your nails your amazed and very happy you bought it?

This is how I feel about Mr. Right Now, except I purchased it online. I had to guess what it was going to look like. When I got it, it just looked like a general red that you can find anywhere but on the nail it was a different story. This color has a little secret that you can't see through the bottle!

Mr. Right Now

Mr. Right Now is that perfect sexy JELLY red. It doesn't go on streaky, it is as close to perfect as you can get. This color is hot and sexy. I'm not even going to use pretty words to describe it. This isn't a frilly happy bunny and rainbows color. I'd even say this a blood red or a candied apple red.

I think that it is important for women to feel sexy and beautiful. I think many of us have certain colors or outfits that make us feel that way. I think for me Mr. Right Now is definitely that color for me!

Do you have nail polish color that makes you feel confident, sexy, or beautiful (or all 3)? Which color is it?

Happy Tuesday!

Sephora by OPI- 212

When I was trying decide on polishes to get with my gift card, this was one of the polishes many nail people recommended. I was completely clueless at what to get, so I went ahead and purchased this one. I must say this is the strangest polish I have ever encountered. It's strange in a good way. You'll see what I mean...

212 (click to enlarge)

212 is a hard to describe color. I'd say it's a blackened gold or olive green or black with lots of gold shimmer? I have no idea! It is packed with micro glitter, silver glitter, holographic glitter, and copper flakes. I can confidently say, this is polish I haven't seen before, and I'm sure many others haven't either.

I know 212 is an area code for Manhattan, so I guess this is NYC in a bottle. It's diverse and full of sparkle and uniqueness. I also find this reminiscent of when I used to do art projects as a little kid. I'd use a ton of glitter and paint and I'd always have a ton left over that left a big mess on the table. If I were to mix all of my glitter mess and paint together I'm sure I would of got something similar to this polish.

I really love this polish. It's find it refreshing because it is so different and out there. I would totally pay the $9 for this one gift card or no gift card. It is completely worth it!

Happy Friday!

Sephora by OPI-Havana Nights Mini Collection

This Sephora by OPI mini collection is something I bought with a gift card. This set is $18. I know I have a rule to not review anything over $10, but a full bottle of Sephora by OPI retails $9 and this is a set, so I think it's fair game to review?

I like this little collection. I think of the 4 in the mini set 3 of them are unique colors I would have a hard time finding elsewhere for a reduced price.

Rumba Romance

Rumba Romance is my favorite...the true stunner in this collection. I like the other colors, but if I were to purchase a full bottle from any of the 4 it would be this one. It is way better on the nails than in the bottle. This is a bright shimmering gold. This looks like gold jewelry that shimmers in the sunlight. This polish doesn't need sunlight to make it pop it pops on its own. I don't think this is best color for my skin tone, but I don't care! Gorgeous shade!

Caliente Coral

(Please excuse the residential glitter on my hands from another swatch!) Caliente Coral really isn't a coral in my opinion it is an orange. It suits its name though it is caliente! It is a spicy orange creme. I like this color, but this is the one color I think you could probably find elsewhere for a cheaper price. It's nice hot orange, but I'm not doing back flips over it.

Teal We Meet Again

(It looks as though I could of used a 3rd coat on this looking at my ring finger & pinky. I'm sorry 3 coats should do.) Teal We Meet Again is a beautiful deep jewel-toned teal shimmer. This is a beautiful shimmering shine, that like Rumba Romance it speaks for self. I think this is also better on the nails than in the bottle.

Read My Palm

Read My Palm is a jade green creme. I do not have any jade green polishes so this really nice. I usually steer clear from these shades because I don't think they do the best for my skin tone, but I think this one works out OK. I really like the color and it's always nice to have a color you don't have added to your collection. I think this one would definitely be a favorite by many because I know how people go gaga over mint greens and jade greens!

That's it for the mini collection. There are 2 more colors part of this collection...Caribbean Cocktail- blue shimmer & Havana Dreams- a pastel blue. Overall, I like this collection, but I'm hesitant to recommend it for everyone because of the price. Plus, these bottles are TINY 1/8 fl oz each. All four of these bottles in total equal to one full size bottle of polish. It's difficult for me because I really do try to save on nail polish. I know many others do not have the same rules as I do, so if you're looking to try out some fun colors and you don't mind spending a bit more, this would be great for you. However, if I didn't have a gift card I'd probably end up buying the 1 full sized bottle of the color I liked best for just $9 or buy 2 bottles and have twice the amount of product for the same price as the mini collection. I think with anything there are pros and cons, and with any type of spender there will be an option for you with these polishes. I just don't think it would be fair for me to tell everyone to go out and get this collection, when personally I don't find it the most economical for my taste. I hope with my swatches it will help you decide if the mini collection is right for you or buying a single bottle is better.

Sorry, for the ramble above, I hope you understand what I'm getting at and I don't sound insane! :P

Have a great Thursday!
