Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 2/12/17-2/19/17

I think February and September are my favorite months for wax because that's when they either start rolling out spring scents or fall scents. I was happy when I went to Walmart this past week to see ScentSationals and Better Homes & Gardens both had new wax! I have a few of those to share with you this week. Overall, it was a pretty good wax week.

ScentSationals Violet Cocktail
Scent Description: A delicious blend is made of black currant, wild acai, and warm black orchid.
My Thoughts: What kind of sorcery is this? This is flipping amazing. This main notes I get in this are black currant and a strong alcohol-cocktail note with a soft floral background. It's a sexy and mysterious scent, but definitely feminine. It's really deep, rich, and so unique and amazing all in one. This is a MUST have.
Scent Throw: 4/5
Where To Buy: Walmart

Bath & Body Works Black Chamomile
Scent Description: Time to unwind with Bamboo Charcoal Extract & Chamomile Essential Oil.
My Thoughts: I've been a fan of the Black Chamomile aromatherapy body products for awhile, so I was excited to see it in candle form. This is a soft true to life chamomile scent. It's soothing and pleasant. It's just what you want out of a scent like this. No complaints.
Scent Throw: 3.5/5
Where To Buy: Bath & Body Works

Ten Digit Creations Fluffy Towels
Scent Description: warm towels fresh from the dryer
My Thoughts: This is a dupe to Yankee Candle's Fluffy Towels. I have Yankee Candle's version as well, and they are dupes. I used to love Fluffy Towels, but not so much in recent years. I decided to give the TDC version a try anyways. I get a blend of fresh laundry and lemon in this scent, but it's a sweeter sugary lemon to my nose which just doesn't agree with me. The scent just smells artificial to me and I don't care for it. Not TDC's fault, it's just the scent in general.
Scent Throw: 3.5/5
Where To Buy: Ten Digit Creations

ScentSationals Woodland Magic
Scent Description: A mystical blend of rosemary, Texas pine, and sparkling aldehydes.
My Thoughts: This is another winning scent from ScentSationals. This doesn't smell woodsy in the least which is what I'd expect. Instead, this is a very herbal and lemony scent. This smells like an energizing spa scent to me. The lemon here is the type of lemon I like it's zesty, tangy, and fresh no sugariness at all. The name and the scent description do not match this scent, but it totally works for me!

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 9/11/16-9/18/16

It's been another letdown wax week for me! I think that's what I get for having a few good weeks in a row. I only had one winning wax this week. Majority of my disappointment this week wasn't with scent but was with throw. I did have some wax orders come in this past week so hopefully, the new stuff will be up to par!
Ten Digit Creations Roasted Pine Cones
Scent Description: awesome aroma of pine cones roasted over an open flame
My Thoughts: This smells just like pine cones. It's blend of pine cones, pine needles, and some smokiness. It's an excellent outdoorsy scent that is very authentic and natural. It's not overpowering or heavy as some woodsy pine-like scents can get either which I appreciate. I wish there were more fall scents from other vendors and retail like this one. It's so hard to find authentic outdoorsy scents.
Throw: 3/5
Where To Buy: Ten Digit Creations

Bath & Body Works Spiced Pomegranate Cider
Scent Description: Ruby Red Pomegranate, Sweet Apple Cider, Muddled Blackberry, Star Anise
My Thoughts: This didn't work for me. On cold sniff, I could pick up a blend of tart pomegranate and spice. When burned, I really got this creamy vanilla fruity smell and hardly any noticeable spice. There isn't anything spiced or cider about this scent in my opinion which is very disappointing.
Throw: 4.5/5
Where To Buy: Bath & Body Works

Yankee Candle Harvest
Scent Description: A blend of cinnamon, cloves, and musk with a hint of sweet apples and pumpkin.
My Thoughts: This is the perfect quintessential fall scent. It's the perfect equal blend of all things fall spice, apple, and pumpkin. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this scent. It's my fall dream. However, the throw is absolute crap. I am so peeved, but I should have known better Yankee Candle tarts never really throw well yet I always try them again anyways.
Throw: 1.5/5
Where To Buy: Yankee Candle

Ten Digit Creations Garden Mint
Scent Description: strong aroma of mint with a background of fresh earth
My Thoughts: This smells exactly like a fresh mint plant. It is so authenticly scented. I love this scent it's so crisp and refreshing and a great blend of herbal and earthy. However, again, the throw was not good. I really had to get close to it or breath in really hard to get a whiff of it. It surprised me because on cold it smells strong.

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 3/20/16-3/27/16

It was an OK wax week. I didn't have anything that really blew me out of the water. I had two scents I felt were below average and two scents I thought were pretty good.

ScentSationals Melon Flower
Scent Description: A soft and sweet fruity floral
My Thoughts: This one is strange. I keep really wanting to like it, but there is some weird note in there that just ruins the rest of it for me. This smells like a blend of maybe honeydew and honeysuckle. These are two scents I'm on board with, but when I melted it this weird caramel-like scent came out. It took a fresh melon and floral scent into this weird sugary artificial territory I do not like. I had to turn this one off it was just too strange and too sweet for me.
Scent Throw: 3.5/5
Where To Buy: ScentSationals

Yankee Candle Windblown
Scent Description: Fresh air and a touch of tangy citrus blend with sea spray and a hint of lily
My Thoughts: This smells nice. My complaint with this one is this is about as generic clean scent as you can get. It's a balance of clean laundry, water, and fresh air scent that you can pretty much find something similar in any candle/wax brand. There isn't anything that stands out about it or makes it special. There isn't anything wrong with the scent either. In fact, I think this would be one of those universally flattering scents. I just think there are more interesting clean scents out there. Plus, the throw isn't great.
Scent Throw: 2/5
Where To Buy: Yankee Candle

Bath & Body Works Turquoise Waters
Scent Description: A blend of sea spray, sunlight & beach grass transports you to turquoise blue ocean waters
My Thoughts: This is heavy on the salty ocean water note paired with a green note. This is a more unique clean scent for sure. I like the blend of water notes with greenery and it's not something I see or smell often in retail scents. This scent is very refreshing and crisp. It's a strong scent too which I do get from a lot of B&BW candles, but not in an unpleasant way. This is also one of those year round scents. It's not tropical or beachy, so it fits any season.
Scent Throw: 4.5/5
Where To Buy: Bath & Body Works

Yankee Candle Fluffy Towels
Scent Description: The fresh scent of clean towels warm from the dryer with notes of lemon, apple, lavender and lily.
My Thoughts: This is actually one of my favorite YC scents. I've had this candle for awhile. I just haven't burned it. Fluffy Towels is an upscale clean laundry scent. I definitely get the clean laundry notes with lemon and a touch of floral. It reminds me of clean linens at a hotel. I really wish I had no complaints about this scent because I love it so much, but I have one. I can burn this scent for 4-5 hours no problem, but after that this one gives me a headache. I won't stop burning this one, but I have a time limit on it. I just think it's such a clean scent it can be a bit overpowering after awhile.
Scent Throw: 4.5/5
Where To Buy: Yankee Candle

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 3/13/16-3/20/16

Happy Spring! I actually did a little something different this week. I burned a candle! I had a Bath & Body Works gift card burning a hole in my pocket so I found a candle I liked. I must admit, B&BW doesn't have the greatest selection in candles anymore. I'm pretty sure there are so many dupes of different candles in there from previous years just renamed that I don't know if anything is really new. I had some wax too and overall it was a good wax week.
Ten Digit Creations Avocado & Sea Salt
Scent Description: salty marine notes blend with bright grapefruit, soft white rose, and creamy avocado
My Thoughts: I l-o-v-e this scent. It is such a lovely clean and fresh that is unlike others I have. Yes, you smell avocado in here, but don't think guacamole. Think freshly sliced avocado, which has clean and creamy scent. The added sea salt notes and the grapefruit really create this spa-like scent. There isn't anything herbal like an aromatherapy type scent, just straight clean, fresh, and natural. You really need to smell this one to understand it! It's one of my all-time favorite scents of all time, plus it's strong in a good way.
Scent Throw: 5/5
Where To Buy: Ten Digit Creations

Bath & Body Works Tahiti Passionflower
Scent Description: blend of Tahitian flowers, orange blossom & solar musk
My Thoughts: I'm pretty confident this a dupe to a previous year's Aloha Waikiki candle. This smells like Hawaii, it says Tahiti, but I haven't been there. I've been to Hawaii and this is what the outdoors there smells like. It's this beautiful blend of tropical floral and salty clean fresh air. This one is very fragrant as far as floral, but I love this type of floral because it's very fresh and crisp. The salty sea air note is an excellent pairing and elevates this scent.
Scent Throw: 5/5
Where To Buy: Bath & Body Works

Mainstays Soothing Spa
Scent Description: N/A
My Thoughts: On cold sniff this smells almost exactly like ScentSationals Zen which is a dupe to  B&BW Stress Relief Eucalyptus Spearmint. That being said, when melted it's a bit different. SS Zen the spearmint notes are very prominent while the eucalyptus is the secondary note. The Mainstays Soothing Spa it's the other way around the eucalyptus takes the spotlight with the spearmint in the background. SS Zen is one of my favorite scents, but I actually like Mainstays Soothing Spa better. I love that stronger greener eucalyptus note in this one! I just wish this one had as strong of a throw as SS Zen. It's not weak, but it could be a touch stronger.
Scent Throw: 3.5/5
Where To Buy: Walmart

Mother Earth Creations Lemon Lavender
Scent Description: Fresh lemon mixed with soothing lavender
My Thoughts: I love lavender blends and this one is nice. I love the combination of the soothing herbal lavender with fresh and crisp lemon. My issue with this is the lemon really overpowers the lavender. I wish it was more of balance or even if it were more lavender as lemon is such a strong scent. It also didn't have the strongest throw.
Scent Throw: 3/5
Where To Buy: Mother Earth Creations

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 10/11/15-10/18/15

I first got into wax melts early this year. I pretty much swore off candles then with the exception of fall/holiday candles. Candles do take up a lot of space when you have small living quarters and they can get expensive. I failed my candle swear off this week, and bought my first few candles probably since last January. I guess I didn't entirely fail as I did make an exception for fall and holiday candles, but still.

I'm not going to be big into candles at all like I used to, but I did clean out some stuff, and made an area to store all my wax melts and candles. Also, Bath & Body Works coupons and their candle sales were burning a hole in my pocket. I'm still all about wax melts, but I don't think I can ditch candles completely especially during fall and winter.

This week I burned some candles and melted some wax!

Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin
Scent Description: An inviting mixture of harvest pumpkin, sweet vanilla cream & spicy cinnamon stick
My Thoughts: I'm not a big fan of bakery scents, and almost all pumpkin scents as of late go that route. Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin while it does have that vanilla note to it, doesn't smell very bakery to me at all. It's not sugary sweet, but to my nose a simple blend of pumpkin and cinnamon. It smells like Thanksgiving Day when you wake up early to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. I know that's not really helpful of a description, but it is that comforting familiar scent of Thanksgiving. It's warm, inviting, and cozy. It's a nostalgic scent to me, that I absolutely love.

Bath & Body Works Winter
Scent Description: Pine needles, icy mandarin & winter woods capture the magic of glittering icicles & sparkling snow
My Thoughts: This has been one of my staple winter scents since it was released a few years ago. The best way I can describe it as if you went outside on a snowy day and could smell peopoles fireplaces burning outside in the distance. It's crisp, refreshing, and has a natural campfire/smoky smell to that balances it out. The smokiness is not in the slightest bit overpowering or unpleasant, it blends in so naturally with the other scent notes.

Ten Digit Creations Lavender Lemongrass
Scent Description: relaxing lavender mixed with fresh cut lemongrass
My Thoughts: This is exactly who it's described. I love aromatherapy and lemongrass and lavender are very common oils/scents used in that. This has that soothing blend of the lavender with the sharpness of the lemongrass. It's an herbal scent rather than a sweet lavender or lemongrass. I really like it. I melted this in my bedroom and found it perfect scent for settling down at bedtime.

Just Makes Scents Merry Mistletoe
Scent Description: A blend of citrus, blue spruce, and frosted cranberries create this perfect holiday scent
My Thoughts: I mentioned last week that Bath & Body Works Merry Mistletoe candle is my favorite scent in the entire universe. It's always a toss up on if B&BW will bring it back each year, and I really wanted needed it in a wax melt. I did some searching, and found a vendor who makes it. This is a spot on dupe. Merry Mistletoe to me smells like orange juice, cranberry juice, champagne, and spruce all mixed together. It is a juicy, effervescent, and festive scent. It is absolutely delightful and this is my signature holiday scent. I burn/melt this so much I become noseblind to it. I love it so much I have to take breaks from it so I can smell it again!

Ten Digit Creations: Lavender Mint
Scent Description: fresh lavender paired with notes of peppermint and spearmint
My Thoughts: This is in the same vein as Lavender Lemongrass, it's just mint not lemongrass. It's a very herbal and aromatherapy-like scent. It's soothing and calming. It's not as intense as lemongrass as lemongrass as very pungent, but it's still a strong scent. I like this one, another favorite bedtime scent.

Bath & Body Works Sparking Pear Riesling
Scent Description: A bright pairing of crisp Riesling grape & juicy California pears.
My Thoughts: A common theme in scents I like (as you see with Merry Mistletoe) are juicy, bubbly, and fruity scents. Sparkling Pear Riesling is exactly that. You get strong notes of the pear and that sparkling wine scent along with it. Lovely scent, not up there with Merry Mistletoe, but I love it too.

Bath & Body Works candles can be purchased in store or online. I highly recommend only buying their candles when they're 2 for $24. They have candle sales frequently. Also, sign up for their emails, so you can get coupons!

I purchased Just Makes Scents through etsy and Ten Digit Creations can be found here.
