Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 1/3/16-1/10/16

It's been a short wax week for me since I have family in town. I'm out and about more, so I don't melt as much. I do think I had a pretty successful wax week though!

Bunch Candle Co. Peppermint & Eucalyptus
Scent Description: Invigorating blend with peppermint, patchouli, cedar wood and eucalyptus
My Thoughts: The peppermint is the strongest note in here, and that's all I could really smell for the first couple hours of melting. I love peppermint though so I don't have any complaints. I'd say around the 5-6 hour mark the peppermint died down and the other notes came out. The eucalyptus, patchouli, and cedar wood added a really nice and subtle masculine note to the entire blend. I liked this one!

Ten Digit Creations Cool Citrus Basil
Scent Description: fresh and clean aroma of sweet basil, lime, and wild mint
My Thoughts: This scent had a lot of my favorite elements in it. I love clean, citrus, and herbal scents and all together this was really nice. It smells like a fancy shampoo you get treated to at the salon. It's crisp, clean, and refreshing.

ScentSationals Starry Sky
Scent Description: Crisp evening night skies form a clean, fresh scent with a spice of myrrh.
My Thoughts: This is a nice woodsy, clean, cologne type blend. I liked this one melting at first, but it got old after awhile. I like the clean and cologne notes in here, but there is a woodsy sweetness in there that puts me off after awhile. I don't hate this, but it's not one I like to melt for too long.

Better Homes and Gardens Salt Water Winds
Scent Description: N/A
My Thoughts: This is probably one of the strongest wax melts I own. This is one I melt after cooking onions. It will knock the onion scent right out! It's a mix to me of a salty ocean air with a strong laundry note. This maybe a bit harsh to some, but I like it. It's a powerful sucker and perfect when you really need to freshen up a room.

Happy Sunday!

Weekly Wax Wrap-Up: 12/20/15-1/3/16

I didn't do a wax post last week because of my Top 25 of 2015 posts going on. This post is accumulation of 2 weeks worth of wax. That beings said, it's a small list because during Christmas I did end up melting a lot of wax I have already reviewed. I only review wax I haven't reviewed before, so be sure to click the tag on this post "weekly wax wrap up" to see all of my other reviews!

Yankee Candle Ocean Star
Scent Description: Soothing and fresh . . the scent of peaceful, sun-kissed waters laced with aloe, citrus, and lotus blossom.
My Thoughts: On a previous post I said I was giving up on Yankee. I had melted a handful and they just smelled so harsh and chemically I was really put off by them. Well, Ocean Star came in and changed my mind. This scent was really nice. It has a really soothing water scent with a touch of floral. There was nothing harsh or artificial about this smell at all. This is really a perfect refreshing and clean scent that I think would be universally appealing. I loved it. Yankee revived themselves with this one for me.

Ten Digit Creations Orange Blossom
Scent Description: uplifting aroma of sweet orange blossoms
My Thoughts: Orange Blossom smells very fresh and sweet to me. Sweet in the floral and fresh sense, not sugary. I like floral sweet smells depending on the floral. I loved this scent. I'm SO SO SO over Christmas smells by Dec. 26th, I want something fresh and uplifting. This is exactly what I needed. It's clean, crisp, and sweet. I approve.

Bunch Candle Co. Lavender
Scent Description: An enchanting meadow fringed with springs of lavender
My Thoughts: Lavender can go so many ways. My favorite lavender is the pure herbal smelling lavender. This is was exactly that. It's straight up lavender. It's soothing and clean. I loved this scent too. We're on a roll here.....

ScentSationals Ocean Spray
Scent Description: N/A
My Thoughts: The roll stops here. This is nasty. There is nothing ocean spray about this. This smells like cheap Dollar Tree cologne. It's nasty, harsh, and gross.  I was expecting a sea salt and airy scent, nope.

Ten Digit Creations Sage and Sea Salt
Scent Description: sage, sea salt, and driftwood
My Thoughts: This one is hard to describe, but I adore it. It smells like a nice hotel. You know hotel smell? The best way I can describe it has a very fresh herbal, airy, and laundry scent going on. It's not harsh or chemically, but fresh and spa-like. This one is a definite winner for me!

Happy Sunday!

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 12/13/15-12/20/15

* I received the following Bunch Candle Co. wax melt to review, the rest were purchased by me.

Considering how close it is to Christmas I barely melt any Christmas wax. I always burn it out too early. I get so excited for the holiday season that by time the real Christmas rolls around I'm over it! I did manage to sneak one in there though! I did have a pretty successful wax week though despite the lack of Christmas cheer.
Bunch Candle Co. Very Vanilla
Scent Description: intense vanilla aroma and subtle touch of cream
My Thoughts: Foodie smells are not my favorite, especially anything in the bakery realm. I find they smell either way too sweet or artificial. I was nervous about this one based on the name alone, but I ended up really liking it after I smelled it. This smelled exactly like vanilla extract. This was a very pure vanilla smell, it wasn't artificial or overly sweet. This was vanilla with no frills. I'd probably melt more foodie/bakery scents if they smelled like this one. I liked this one and it had a nice throw for around 6-8 hours.

Ten Digit Creations Christmas Splendor
Scent Description: apples, oak, balsam, fir, and pine, with a background of cinnamon and clove
My Thoughts: Meh. This was a very generic apples and cinnamon scent to me. There is nothing wrong with it, but I wasn't getting any of the balsam, fir, and pine notes from this personally. This to me just smelled similar to the Glade Apples & Cinnamon scent which I can get in the store. I was really hoping this had some other notes to it that gave it more depth. This had a good throw that lasted around 8 hours.

ScentSationals Fusion Limon
Scent Description: N/A
My Thoughts: I love clean and fresh scents and citrus tends to fall in that category. This was a straight up fresh lemon scent. Limon had the perfect blend of tartness with a hint of sweetness. This scent was very crisp and refreshing. It had a great throw that lasted 10+ hours.

ScentSationals Timeless Devotion
Scent Description: island flowers and jasmine mingled with tropical fruit
My Thoughts: This smells exactly like Bath & Body Works Plumeria. Exactly. I get plumeria, jasmine, and not so much tropical fruit as I get peach from this. I do like this one. Florals are hit and miss for me, but I do tend to like tropical florals best. This wax melt is STRONG. It's lovely, but I probably could of used half a cube. It's just that strong. Nice scent, but it can knock you over. If you're sensitive to florals, this would be a definite no go for you. This has epic throw that I couldn't burn for too long because it was too much for me.

ScentSationals Crisp Linens
Scent Description: The scent of fresh linens, newly washed, sun-drying on the line.
My Thoughts: I'm all about fresh and clean, but some laundry scents are just too harsh for me. This was not the case at all with Crisp Linens. I LOVED this scent. I read someone else described this as more of bubble bath scent with a beachy note. They did a better job of describing it than I could of. This is a soapy and watery fresh scent with a hint of Yankee Candle Sun & Sand scent. It's amazing and reminds of me of a fancy beach resort. This was definitely my favorite scent of the week. Great throw that lasted 10+ hours. I will be needing more of this one.

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 11/29/15-12/6/15

* I received the Bunch Candle Co. wax melt in exchange for my honest review. The rest of the wax shown here was purchased by me.

It's been fun week of new to me wax! ScentSationals had a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, so I stocked up on wax from them that I couldn't find in store. I think I found my all time favorite wax too! I also got to review a wax from a new candle/wax company, Bunch Candle Co.
ScentSationals Silent Night
Scent Description: The clean soft scent of myrrh subtly perfumed with spice.
My Thoughts: To me, it smells like a soft men's cologne type scent. I'm not sure how else to describe it. It's not overpowering or intense like some men's cologne scents can be. I wish I could be more descriptive, but it's basically a clean man scent without being harsh. I do really like it though as it is a nice variation from standard holiday scents. It still fits in with the holidays because of the richness of this type of scent. The throw is nice with this one and I got around 8-10 hours out of it.

ScentSationals Spa
Scent Description: Calm your senses with this soothing combination of cool mint, tart citrus and fresh green leaves.
My Thoughts: This. is. amazing. This smells like Badger Balm's Stress Soother to me if you're familiar with that.  This the absolute perfect stress and headache relieving scent. I get whiffs of rosemary, lemongrass, mint, lavender, and hint of citrus. This is the holy grail of stuff when it comes to aromatherapy for stress, anxiety, and headaches. It does not smell medicinal, but herbal and very soothing. This is a new favorite wax for me, and I went back on ScentSationals site and ordered 4 more packs. I don't want to be without this one! This has a nice throw and I got around 15 hours of scent out of it.

Ten Digit Creations Lavender Vetiver
Scent Description: lavender, vetiver, musk, and sandalwood
My Thoughts: This is so hard to describe. This smells like bubble bath to me. I know that's not very descriptive. There is lavender, a strong green/grassy note and some soapy elements to it. That green/grass note in it is the strongest, and while I like it, it does wear on me after some time. I don't dislike it, but it's one that has a time limit for me. This had a very strong throw that lasted over 12 hours.

ScentSationals Sleigh Ride
Scent Description: Passing white veiled pines, over fresh fallen snow.
My Thoughts: This was reminiscent of the nauseating Better Homes and Gardens Twinkling Holiday Lights. This had a lighter touch so I didn't find it as off putting. I tried so hard to like this, but I just don't care for it. This one has a strong earthy pine note paired with a strong mint note. Honestly, this smells like dentist office. Do you like this dentist? Me neither. Exactly, my point. This had a medium throw, but I didn't melt it very long because it smells like the dentist!

Bunch Candle Co. Peppermint Bark
Scent Description: the irresistible aroma of dark chocolate with mint essential oil to create a "true to life" scent of this much-loved winter candy.
My Thoughts: This scent is spot on with the description. The crispness of the peppermint really pairs nicely with the chocolate. This reminds me a lot of Andes mints, which I love. This isn't artificial or overly sugary smelling at all. It's pleasant, crisp, natural, and yummy. This had a strong throw, and I got around 8-9 hours of scent out of it.

The ScentSationals waxes I melted today can be found on their site for $2.99 each. Ten Digits Wax can be found on their site for $1.50 each. Bunch Candle Co. wax can be found on their site for $4.00 each.
