Del Sol Starry Night

I have known about Del Sol for years way before I was really into nail polish. I discovered Del Sol in the summer of 2000 in Hawaii. My parents and I were on vacation there, and came across a Del Sol store. I was 14 at the time, and when I saw they had color changing nail polish I had to have it! My first polish from them was Ruby Slipper, and it's still one of their colors today. I never used to do my nails much, but whenever we were on vacation and we saw a Del Sol store, I went straight for the polish! Now, as a full fledged nail polish addict my Del Sol love hasn't faded. They also graciously offered to sponsor the Central Florida Beauty Bloggers at our last meetup. This was the cool polish I got. It's a new color too!

Starry Night

Starry Night indoors (top photo) is a mix of plain gold glitter, gold holographic glitter, and a subtle purple shimmer in a clear base. In the sun (bottom photo) the clear base turns into a deep purple.

This color rocks! Sure, glitters in clear bases are not something I typically do on my nails alone, but in the sun..whoa! This polish has such a dramatic change. This takes seconds too. You're not sitting around twiddling your thumbs waiting for the change, it is instantaneous. You will need full sunlight for the color to get this dark, but even with partial sun or cloudiness you will notice a change. That's kind of the cool thing about this polish depending on the light you may get a lighter purple or a deep one. This an awesome color by Del Sol!

What I also love about Del Sol is they really have a polish for everyone. They have glitters, shimmers, cremes, and sheers. They also have colors that have dramatic changes in the sun and some colors that have more subtle changes. There is a lot of variety!

Del Sol polishes are $10 and be found on their website. They also now have many store locations.

Del Sol Sun Kissed

When I was on vacation, I made sure to pick up some Del Sol goodies. These are polishes that change color in the sun. You can pretty much count on Del Sol polish being available in major touristy areas and Caribbean islands. They always have from what I remember a special of buy 3 get 1 free. These are $10 each, which is a bit pricey, but it's a fun novelty polish, so it's fine by me!

Sun Kissed indoors
Sun Kissed indoors is a pale peach with gold shimmer.

Sun Kissed outdoors
Sun Kissed outdoors turns into a vibrant deep coral pink with gold shimmer.

I love this polish because of how dramatic the change is. I'm normally not a fan of the nude-pale peachy tones, but this one I find very complimentary. This one definitely comes alive in the sun. I love the intensity of the coral shade, and I of course love the gold shimmer!

Del Sol Prima Donna

"Prima donna,
first lady of the stage!
Your devotees
are on their knees
to implore you!"

I couldn't help it. When I saw the name of this polish I insantly thought of that song from "Phantom of the Opera".  That's a great musical by the way. I'm not a huge theater or musical person, but I do enjoy Phantom and few other shows.

Anyways Prima Donna is another one of those color changing polishes in the sun. I was really pleasantly surprised by this one. Out of the 4 I got this was the only creme/jelly polish  I got and it sure delivered!

Prima Donna (indoors)
Look at that pretty bubble gum pink jelly! I had no idea this would be a jelly before putting this on. Sure, there is VNL (visible nail line), but I actually don't mind it in this case.

Prima Donna (outdoors)
When in the sun Prima Donna goes from a bubble gum pink to a purple plum. Great color!

I love the dramatic change between these colors. I also think these are universally flattering colors in the sense that they can go with anything. This is another great polish from Del Sol in my book. I haven't been disappointed yet. I also know they just recently released at new Halloween nail polish color! You can purchase Del Sol at some select Walgreens (I have yet to find them at any near me) for I think $7.99, on their website for $10 each or Buy 3 get 1 free, or in their free standing stores if you happen to live in a touristy or beachy area.

Happy Tuesday!

Del Sol Rock Star

Hey guys! Sorry, for the lack of post yesterday, and not replying to comments. School has been hectic. My cat also went into the vet on Monday for her annual vaccinations, and the vet said one of them may cause her to have a fever and not feel. Of course, she wasn't feeling well later that night and all day yesterday. Wet canned food seemed to do the trick and liven her up, so she's been doing better now. I hate when she's not feeling well. I feel so helpless, plus I'm always so paranoid. It's not a good combo. :P

Back to nail polish! Rock Star is another Del Sol color changing polish I got. I really enjoy these polishes. I prefer them over the Claire's Mood color changing ones. The formula is better, the color selection/finishes are better, and they change color in the sun which I think you see more often than putting your hand under hot water! :P The only thing Claire's polishes have over these is the price. Del Sol's are $10, but totally worth it.

Rock Star (indoors)
Indoors Rock Star is a bright blue jelly base with blue glitter. This took 4 coats to achieve. The glitter is more sparse than more typical glitters, but it is definitely noticeably and very pretty!

Rock Star (outdoors)
Outdoors Rock Star turns into a jeweled toned green-blue it almost looks teal. The base changes color while the glitter remains blue. It's a very pretty combination.

I really love this one. I think it gives you the best of both worlds you get a blue and a green which are both very popular nail polish colors! The formula and wear on these are great and color change effect is instant. I have no complaints from this polish!

Happy Wednesday!

Del Sol- Ruby Slipper

I have to say Del Sol nail polishes are one of my earlier nail polish memories. I came across Del Sol nail polishes I think back in 1998/1999? My family and I were on a trip to Hawaii, and we spotted a Del Sol store. I was about 12/13 at the time and thought color changing nail polish was the coolest thing! Well, it still is! I remember purchasing Ruby Slipper back then and fell in love with it. I've long since lost that nail polish, but we have been reunited!

Ruby Slipper (indoors)
Indoors Ruby Slipper is a clear base with silver glitter mixed in. It's definitely not the most interesting of polishes color-wise indoors, but there is a reason for that. It is amazing outdoors!

Ruby Slippers (outdoors)
In the sunlight this changes into a vibrant juicy cool toned red. The base of the polish changes, while the silver glitter doesn't change colors. This is great. I LOVE this color, partially because it's just great in general, but it holds a lot of fun memories.

I figured the flaw to this polish for many of us would be how it looks indoors. It's a clear base with silver glitter and doesn't provide for much coverage or give really any color, with that in mind I tested it over black. I layered it over black polish over two fingers while on the other two fingers I turned it into a funky french!

I used about two coats of Ruby Slipper on these nails. It doesn't get to that vibrant ruby you get with it alone but it does add nice punch of color over the black. I think it would make for neat look indoors and outdoors.

I really love these Del Sol polishes and I'll be sharing more throughout the upcoming week. They retail for $10 at Del Sol stores, which now can be found in many tourist locations in the US, along with the Caribbean, and other tropical destinations worldwide. You can also purchase them from their website. I think they are usually on sale buy 3 get 1 free.

I understand the price is on the high end for me, but if add in the color changing factor, I think it makes it worth it. It's a fun novelty, and the colors besides for this one I purchased are great. Top coat doesn't affect the ability for these to change color either (except UV blocking ones). These colors also change instantly in the sun, there is no waiting time. Also, if the sun isn't all the way out they still do change, they may not reach the full vibrancy, but they do change colors. So Del Sol gets good reviews from me!

Happy Saturday!
