Franken Femme Merlin's Magic

Today, I want to share with you a franken that was made for me. Becca over at the blog Franken Femme is an awesome frankener! Becca's blog is almost entirely made up of her own frankens. If any of you have been around the nail polish world for awhile, you might remember Dr. Frankenpolish. Dr. Frankenpolish shared her own franken creations on her blog, but she hasn't posted in years.I think it is awesome to see a new nail blogger taking on this awesome concept. This is the color she made for me.

Merlin's Magic over Sinful Colors Endless Blue
Merlin's Magic is a blue tinted base with a mix of blue and iridescent glitters and shimmers.

This is stunning! My only complaint, is that my mean jealous camera could not pick up how truly beautiful this polish is! Merlin's Magic looks like a sparkling magical sea. I'm always a sucker for blue, and even more of a sucker for a blue as sparkly and special as this one. This is a great franken! Thank you so much for making this one for me, Becca!

Be sure to check out Becca's blog Franken Femme to see her wonderul franken creations! You can also follow her on Facebook and Instagram

Franken Sunken Treasure

I found myself in a common situation in the nail polish world recently. An indie nail polish seller put LE bottles of nail polish on their etsy site, and I missed out on this amazing bottle of polish I really liked. This polish was called Super Moon, by See Sarah Swatch/Two Birds One Stone. Isn't gorgeous?!? Well, I messaged Sarah, and asked if she'd be making more, and the answer was sadly no. Then....I pouted. I wanted to try and make my own, but I did not have the same type and color of glitters. I really wanted a polish like that though, so I took a stab at it. It doesn't look much like Super Moon, but it did cease my pouting. I'm pleased with my result. I'm calling this one Sunken Treasure. I do owe Sarah a thanks for inspiration though, if it weren't for Super Moon I never would of come up with this.

Sunken Treasure

Sunken Treasure is a bright blue jelly with silver holographic glitters, copper glitters, and gold/copper micro glitters.

This was actually fairly easy to make. I just used clear, Revlon Royal, Icing Frost Yourself, Sephora by OPI Traffic Stopper Copper, Jordana Copper Blaze, and Tropez Sassy. I do not recall the exact measurements, but it's a majority clear and glitter with a little of Revlon Royal mixed in. I think this looks cool! My only disappointment is it doesn't really sparkle like Super Moon, but that's ok. I love a jelly glitter, and it's awesome how the glitters from previous layers peak through the base. It reminds me of sunken treasure hidden at the bottom of the ocean. It's definitely a cool polish. It may not be Super Moon, but it's special in its own right.

Two Birds One Store- Once Upon a Time

This polish comes from See Sarah Swatch's etsy store Two Birds, One Store. I absolutely love Sarah's polish creations! She also made me Neptune's Pool which was dream polish idea I had. I was so thrilled when she opened up an etsy shop, because I knew she'd have some amazing creations....and she did! I picked up this one from her shop a little awhile ago.

Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time is a deep raspberry base with golden shimmer, small red, black, and purple glitter, and red, black, purple, and holographic hex glitter.

This polish is beautiful! I love the jelly base and the mixture of all the different glitters. This is super sparkly and blingy. It does kind of a look like a fairy dust in a bottle. The name of this polish definitely fits. I do not have much else to say with this, other than that I love it so much! :)

Happy Friday!

Franken Neptune's Pool

**In "Share With You Sunday" I will now be featuring reader manis. If you'd like to submit yours click on"Share Your Mani" for more information. I only have one submission so far. Don't be shy! :)

Finally, I get to post this amazing polish! I got a new camera last week, and it has changed my swatching life completely. Believe it or not, I actually would not post certain polishes on my blog because my camera could not capture them properly. This was the case with this beauty, and I'm thrilled I get to post it now.

Long long ago RBL asked for people to submit dream polish idea for a fan collection. I submitted my idea, and it did not get chosen (wah wah wahhhhhh). The swatches I've seen of the chosen polishes are gorgeous though! Anyways, I shared my idea on my blog awhile ago, and Sarah from See Sarah Swatch frankened me my dream polish!

Neptune's Pool

Neptune's Pool is a royal blue jelly with a golden micro shimmer and iridescent flakies.

Ahhhh! I love this! It is such a beautiful polish. Sarah did an excellent job! In case you were wondering this was my inspiration....

Hearst Castle Photo: Trey Ratcliff www.stuckincustoms.com

This is the Roman Pool at Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California. It is absolutely beautiful. My parents and I used to spend every Christmas break on the central coast of California where this is located. So, in ways this was close to my heart. I love the mosaic tiles..the mixture of the blues..golds..lapis lazui...aqua....all of it!

Sarah did an excellent job of capturing this and putting it into a polish for me. Thank you so much Sarah! Sarah now has a shop on etsy called TwoBirdsOneStore where she sells frankens and handmade jewelry along with her sister Sandy. I bought some polishes from her shop recently which I'll be showing you later on!

Happy Wednesday!

Franken The Final Frontier

You want to know how nutty I am? I am nutty enough to have dreams about nail polish. I can only hope that others to do, so I don't feel so crazy! I had this dream the other night about this nail polish that looked like space. It literally looked like Hubble Telescope photos. It was a Deborah Lippmann polish (in my dream). It was in a store and there was only one bottle left. I ran to go get it, but some girl snatched it up before me. Curse her! Anyways, when I woke up I had recreate it. I went on a franken frenzy and this was my result.

The Final Frontier

Final Frontier is a black jelly with copper shimmer, iridescent glitter, and multi-colored flakies (mainly green ones though).

This was a combination of MULTIPLE polishes. I have no idea how to recreate this, but if you're interested I used the following....

Clear, WnW Black Creme, Pure Ice Don't You Wish, Confetti Ice Ice Baby, Sinful Colors Green Ocean, Cult Nails Unicorn Puke, Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure, Love & Beauty Blue Multi , Sinful Colors Agaci, and Sinful Colors Suede Shoes

I *think* that's it. I know that's a lot, but I was in mad scientist frankening mood! I'm impressed with my result. I'm not much of a frankener, but doing this makes me want to do more. I don't consider myself the most creative of people, but I have moments. I admire really creative people. I wish I was creative all the time. Where is the creative juice?

Happy Thursday!

Franken Dragon's Lair

Today, I have for you franken. This lovely franken was created by Sarah from See Sarah Swatch. I named it though. I hope she doesn't mind the name! I thought it fit. This color is awesome. I think bloggers and nail polish addicts create the best polish colors for sure.

Dragon's Lair

Dragon's Lair is a teal shimmer with golden holographic glitter.

I need to get my hands on some golden holographic glitter! She combined two of my favorite things in this, a cool toned color and gold. I've talked about my love for this combination enough. I don't want to bore you to tears. It's a beautiful color, and I love the use of the shimmer and the glitter together. Thanks Sarah!

Happy Wednesday!

Guest Post: Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes- Franken I Glitter Bombed That Bitch!

Hiya Lacquer Lovers! I'm Chris from Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes and I'm going to be your guest blogger today! The thing I do the most of is make frankens so of course I'm going to show you a franken today.

Welcome to the Wii Interactive (thank you, Kimberly) franken creation post. Today's franken is named (wait for it) I Glitter Bombed that Bitch! Below is BC, 3 coats of I Glitter Bombed that Bitch! and no TC.

Okay, NOW comes the interactive. One thing about using holo glitter dust or glitter powder (I've learned) is it can take awful photos even though it blings your eyes out in real life. So, I started moving my computer screen (I have a laptop) and I learned as I moved the screen away from me - the bling comes out much better (still not as good as in real life - I mean seriously, I was sitting in the half dark of the living room and this thing wouldn't quit blinging me). So give it a try and slowly tilt the computer screen away from you.  If you have a non-moveable screen you get to move your body instead (hence the Wii Interactive bits). lol Below is a blurred photo for a little more bling factor and I'd still be moving my screen to catch it better.

I Glitter Bombed that Bitch! Recipe:
3/4 bottle of Savina Lavender Holographic
4 tsp (yes, count them) of any good holographic glitter powder/dust
1/8th bottle of Wet n'Wild Clear

That's it. I liked the original Savina a little but it didn't do a lot for me, so I thought, hmmm, now if this blinged every which way I looked at it, well that would be cool!  So what started out as a subtle holo became a glitter bombed bitch holo. lmao

TIP: When top coating frankens you've made with glitter powder/dust plan on at least 2 coats of TC. These dry glitters eat top coat like they're Lay's Potato Chips (can't eat just one). Sometimes I've found I need 3 thin or 2 thick layers of TC to make this smooth and glossy.

I can't wait to see what Steph has brought back from her trip - I hope she got me lots of presents!  I asked her for a cabana boy so we'll see?

Happy Day!

Franken Billions Upon Billions

I absolutely appreciate science, but I stink at understanding it. Science is by far a difficult subject for me. I am horrible at technical subjects that have only one correct answer. I'm so much more of an abstract and theoretical person. One of the people I've always admired is Carl Sagan. He was an astronomer who had the capacity to make the subject of astronomy and understanding our universe captivating and beautiful. He has inspired me to appreciate humanity and our greatness. He also inspired me to have a zest for knowledge and and to always ask the difficult questions.

How does this relate to nail polish? Well, it doesn't. I just made a franken that reminded me of him and some of his famous sayings. He was known to say things like "billions upon billions of stars" and "billions and billions of galaxies". I  found this spacey looking polish fitting.

Billions Upon Billions
Billions Upon Billions is a black scattered holo glitter.

I just mixed Milani HD with Confetti Black Tie and viola! I know it's kind of odd to mix such a profound topic with nail polish. It's odd because my blog is one side of me, but I don't share this other side of me that is very passionate about many subjects. I'm a fun person, but I'm also very analytical too. Honestly, I'm a big nerd.  I think avoid sharing that side of me, so I don't bore you all! :P

I figured I'd leave off with a great message/video from Carl Sagan. He really left us too soon. :(

Happy Monday!

Franken Figment of the Imagination

This next franken was made by Chris over at Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes. She is definitely one of the franken masters in the nail polish blogging world. This next color is a spectacular holographic greatness. She doesn't remember how she made it, but I'm going to guess her body was momentarily taken over by some magical fairy princess with special powers because it's that great..or Chris is a magical fairy princess?

Figment of the Imagination
Figment of the Imagination is a medium purple that leans slightly to the red scattered glitter holo.

Yeah, I'm pretty blown away. this holo is just as good as the China Glaze Kaleidoscopes. I named this color. This color reminded me of Figment the dragon, from the "Journey into the Imagination" ride at Disney Epcot.

He's a rather silly, slightly annoying dragon, but cute nonetheless. I thought the name fit! :)

Thank you Chris!!!

I'm just going to do a small blurb of this since I'm sure you all have seen it enough, but Zoya is doing a BOGO free promo on their summer colors. If you're interested in these I'd suggest taking advantage of this offer

Happy Monday!

Franken Pixie Dust

I'm not much of a frankener, but I lately I've been in the mood. Since I crave lavenders and purples, I had to make a purple franken. I recently got China Glaze Electric Lilac, and was disappointed with the sheerness of it, so I decided to make the "Electric Lilac" I really wanted. I named it Pixie Dust, as this color makes me think of unicorns, fairies, and all those happy sparkly things!

Pixie Dust

Pixie Dust is a bright lavender with iridescent sparkles and flakies.

This is very easy to make. I just mixed Color Club Pucci-licious with Confetti Pink Confetti and a little bit of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure. I love this color. It's very girly, and fun. I love that it's creme and opaque with sparkly versus sheer goopy and icky *cough* Electric Lilac. Electric Lilac does look nice layered, but still. I'm sorry China Glaze, I love you, but those specialty glitters the formula in some of them just doesn't work. :(

On side note I'm very excited for today. I get to see my best friend. I haven't seen her in 3 years. I know "best friends" after a certain age is silly, but we've been best buddies since we were 2. After high school we we went separate ways as of location, but no matter how long we don't talk or don't see each other, nothing changes. She's about to start her 4th and final year of vet school, and I'm very proud of her. She's wanted to be a veterinarian ever since she was probably 2. She'll only be here until Monday morning, but I'll take anytime I can get. She's not a nail polish junkie, but she does like OPI pinks on her toes. Maybe I can convert her in 36 hours?

Here is a pic of us when were little. I'm not sure how old we were here.

I got the WORST haircuts as a kid. Don't you love the chili bowl hair cut? I had bone straight jet black hair. I was so tan then too, now I'm so pale!

Happy Saturday!

Franken Sparkler

Time is flying by. I cannot believe it is almost 2011. Don't you remember when you were younger time seemed to go by so slow. I remember a year feeling like 5 years, but now a year feels like it's only a few months. It's crazy! Anywho..today I have a franken for you.

Sparkler
Sparkler is a magenta shimmer with holographic micro glitter.

This was simple to make. This is Sally Hansen Gleaming a color I received in the extra craptastic Sally Hansen gift set. I just added some Wet N Wild holographic glitter I got from Halloween to it. I really like this. I like the base color, but I wanted to liven it up a bit and holographic glitter was the way to go!

Happy Tuesday!

Franken Midnight Snowfall

Hey everyone. I want to sincerely thank all of you who left me the kindest and most supportive comments on my last post. I truly appreciate all of your kindness. I know we do not know each other personally, but your warmth and care mean a lot to me. You all are wonderful people. I am so grateful! My cat seems to be doing a bit better. I have not heard any results yet from her urine test, so I'm assuming no news is good news as of now. I got in tomorrow to get more of her antibiotics so I will ask then if I don't hear from them today. I've realized sitting around worrying 24/7 isn't doing me any good. I shouldn't let worrying prevent me from enjoying life right now.

Here is a Franken I made recently. I used Wet n' Wild Nocturnal, Sinful Colors Midnight Blue, & that Wet n' Wild holographic glitter I found during Halloween.

Midnight Snowfall

Midnight Snowfall is a medium shimmery blue with holographic glitter.

I quite like this concoction. It's very wintery. Thankfully, it's starting to feel like winter here. I love the cooler weather!

Thank you all again for you kindness. ((Hugs)) to you all .

Happy Friday!

Franken Snow Kissed Lilac

This weekend I was on a mission to make a franken dupe of China Glaze No Way Jose (photo courtesy of lextard). This is a discontinued polish. You cannot find this anywhere. It's not on ebay it's not on etailers. It is gone. The problem is I *need* this polish.

I decided I would try to franken this. My franken attempt was a fail. I don't even recall the recipe at this point. I think I worked on this for 3 hours over the span of 2 days. The bottle overflowed about 5 times. I used probably 7 different polishes. I never came up with a dupe of this amazing color. That being said I'm kind of in love with my franken, but I still need that No Way Jose!

Snow Kissed Lilac

Snow-Kissed Lilac is a bright lilac pastel creme mixed in with white/clear glass fleck glitter (I used Orly Winter Wonderland for this). I want to to thank "popojijo" on MUA for helping me name this.

I could go through how not like No Way Jose this is, but that will depress me. I am really pleased with this franken in general though. I love the brightness of the purple and that glitter effect. It's definitely not a color I have in my collection. Overall, I'm really happy with franken. Was I frustrated as heck and irritated I couldn't get this franken to look like No Way Jose? Yep! :P This was a nice surprise though. China Glaze do me a favor and re-release this polish. :)

Happy Monday!

Franken Ring of Fire

A little while ago a received a package from the lovely Chris of Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes. She sent me some frankens and few other polishes. One of the frankens she made for me I helped name Ring of Fire. This is my kind of color! I'm so happy she sent this to me. Thank you!

Ring of Fire

Ring of Fire is a true red jelly jam packed with gold glitter.

This color is great! It combines two of my favorite things red and gold. It's unlike other red/gold combinations I've seen in polishes before. I love the perfect balance of jelly and glitter. This color is hot and literally on fire. Chris is the franken queen! She has the magic touch when it comes to frankens. They're gorgeous.

Happy Wednesday!

How does it feel to be 24? & Giveaway Winner!

Hasn't that always been an awkward question? I found it always so strange when it's your birthday for people to ask how it feels to be X years old. That being said today is my 24th birthday and it doesn't feel any different than being 23...or 22. I'm not sure what exactly you are supposed to feel when you age one more year :P. I'm sorry I sound cynical! I am excited about it being my birthday though! Birthdays after 21 lose their excitement which is fine by me I never was one to really go all out for birthdays. I just like celebrating with close family and friends by doing fun activities and having a nice dinner. My boyfriend and I are going to have dinner tonight at Downtown Disney and my parents are coming visit for a few days on Sunday which I'm looking forward to! I haven't seen them since February. I'm excited about the next 2 weeks!

I figured I'd share with you the polishes I got for my birthday from Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes! She's so sweet from sending me these goodies. I really appreciate her kindness and her friendship. She's an all around great gal!

China Glaze Branding Iron
Branding Iron is up there in my favorite China Glazes of all time. It's not surprise because in my opinion it came from one of their best collections Rodeo Diva. Branding Iron is a rich burgundy shimmer that practically glows in sunlight or any kind of kind of light. I love colors like this rich bold colors are my style.

China Glaze Wagon Trail
Wee!!! Wagon Trail has been on my lemming list for some time now and I'm so happy I have it now! It is also from the Rodeo Diva collection. It's a black creme mixed in a deep golden shimmer. This one of those one-of-kind color! I could say more, but this one speaks for itself!

Nail Tek Scarlet Starlet
I didn't know Nail Tek made colors, but I'm not complaining. This is a beautiful pearl-like red. I'd say it's a true red with beautiful shimmer. I love reds and this is no exception of love the finish of it best of all!

 Foilesque Rose Dust
This was a franken made by Lacquerware of Tips and Toes. Isn't it gorgeous! I have zero colors like this. It's a rosy pink foil. It has a metallic silvery quality that is very unique and pretty. It's a great franken!

Orly Orange Sorbet
Orange Sorbet was another one on my lemming list. Doesn't this color look delicious though I don't recommend eating it. It's lighter orange with gold shimmer throughout. Gold shimmer again a favorite of mine. It makes me think of orange smoothies and tropical locations. It's a very pretty color.

Now it's time to announce my giveaway winner! I want to thank everyone for entering it was fun!

The winner is......

Deanna from Lorraine Nails!

Congrats!

That's it for today! Thanks again to Lacquer Ware for these and making my birthday a little extra special!

Happy Monday!
