Third Week Throwbacks: Hare Polish Dauphine of Decadence

I have one of my all time favorite polishes to share with you today. This is kind of my go to glitter topper when I have no idea what to do with my nails. It's the perfect unique and beautiful color combination and it's made my Hare Polish!

Dauphine of Decadence (over Maybelline Mink Lust)
Dauphine of Decadence is a mix of gold and matte green glitters with a golden shimmer.

Collection: Hare Polish The Last Queen of France Spring 2013

Color: This is absolute perfection for me. This the most beautiful glitter topper. I love the mix of matte and metallic. The softness of the mint green with that rich gold. It's gorgeous. I adored this entire collection because so many of the colors made me think they were inspired by the Rococo art movement in 18th century France. I loved the art from that period.

Formula: Excellent easy to apply formula. I used one coat over a base.

Price: As far as I know this one isn't available currently. I'm not sure if that's forever, but I sure hope not. Sorry.

Overall: I don't know what else to say. This is one of my favorite polishes of all time. I absolutely adore everything about it.

HARE Polish The Norwegians Are Leaving

I have a newer HARE Polish to share with you today. This one is from the recent winter Twin Peaks Part 2 collection. I wish I could comment on the TV show Twin Peaks, but I can't. I've never seen it, and have absolutely no idea what it is about. Is it good? Anyways, the color stood out to be as pretty awesome, so the television reference didn't matter!

The Norwegians Are Leaving
The Norwegians Are Leaving is a bright blue jelly base with gold flakies and iridescent gold glitter.

Collection: Twin Peaks Part 2 Winter 2014

Color: If you're been following my blog for a long time you know my obsession with a nail polish like this. I submitted a similar polish idea to RBL in 2011 inspired by the Roman Pool at Hearst Castle. Obviously this wasn't HARE Polish's inspiration, but her creation definitely fits the bill of what I love! I love the bright blue jelly in contrast with the golden iridescent glitter. It's a beautiful and very luxurious color combo!

Formula: Excellent 2 coat formula. This applied evenly and smoothly.

Price: I purchased this for $10 on HARE Polish's etsy page. This is currently out of stock, but keep up with HARE Polish on Facebook for updates!

Overall: Beautifully stunning color! I'm going to be a bit partial to it clearly, but honestly this is an excellent polish all around. The color is lovely and the formula is definitely on point. I love this one!

HARE Polish Rosa Meditativa

I have a new HARE Polish to share with you today. This is from the A Surreal New Year collection inspired by Salvador Dali. This is one of the most interesting polishes I now own. Interesting, in a very good way that is!

Rosa Meditativa
Rosa Meditativa is dusty mauve jelly with multi-color ultra chrome flakies.

Collection: A Surreal New Year 2015

Color: This is 100% original and stunning color! The base color is beautiful and those mult-colored ulta chrome flakies? Need I say more? This polish is so cool, creative, and different!

Formula: I found this formula easy to use and apply. I used 3 coats above.

Price: I paid $10 for this on the HARE Polish etsy site. I hope this one will be restocked soon.

Overall: These are the types of polishes I really do not have much to say with. I mean all you have to do is look at it to see its greatness. I love Rose Meditativa. This is a definite standout for me so far this year. I think we have a Top 2015 contender already!

Hare Polish Own Your Opulence

I'm a sucker for art history. I love some of the grandiose art movements of the past. One of my favorites is Rococo, which was prominent in 18th century France. I love the whimsical and flowing style and the strong use of pastel tones.  Rococo art for lack of a better word was all very pretty, and pleasing to the eye.

I was excited when Hare Polish released The Last Queen of France collection inspired by Marie Antoinette who was a part of this time period. I have Own Your Opulence to share with you today, a glitter topper that is highly representative of the Rococo opulent style and color scheme.

Own Your Opulence over Revlon Modern Grace
Own Your Opulence is a mix of pastel glitters, black glitters, gold glitters, gunmetal glitters, and a gold shimmer in a clear base.

Color: This is an amazing color combination, and in entirely unique to anything I own. I love the mix of black and gold with pastel, it is so luxurious, and so Rococo! I'm geeking out a bit. Love!

Formula: Good formula! I used 2 coats in the swatch above.

Price: This is $10.00 on Hare Polish's etsy site

Overall: I absolutely 100% adore this. I know it's partially the theme that I adore,  but the polish is great! I love the inspiration. I think it represents the theme excellently and is truly a unique glitter topper in the indie world.

HARE Polish Rococo Grandeur & History Lesson

*If you don't like history, you can skip this first part. I rarely get to share another interest of mine in this blog, so I'm using the opportunity to combine the two!

I adore art history and am always intrigued by how much we can learn about humanity at one particular time through the art we created. The simplest details of shapes, colors, and lines in any piece of art can help us dictate what a kind of political ideals, religious beliefs, and values a society had. To see history depicted so beautifully and creatively throughout human history is very inspiring and fulfilling to me.

I'd say my favorite art definitely comes between the 16th and 19th centuries. That's A LOT of artistic movements to cover in that time span, but from the Renaissance to Impressionism it's so hard to choose a favorite! What falls between that time frame is Rococo.

Rococo was an 18th century artistic movement that developed in France. The Rococo movement was like most artistic movements--a reaction to the previous one. The previous Baroque style was rigid and majestic. That pretty much got old, and Rococo artists desired a more a fluid, fanciful, and flamboyant style.

This movement brought us what I find to be the most iconic piece of the period, The Swing by Jean-HonorĂ© Fragonard. The use of pastel-colors, curvy lines, and ornate embellishments were major themes in Rococo art. I loved this movement as it was a complete break from tradition, plus it was soft and pretty. Many people of the time disapproved as this art because they felt it was hedonistic and not serious. They were poopy heads.

Sorry, I think I forgot this was a nail polish blog for a second! Thank you though for letting me share another one of my passions though.  This all brings me to HARE Polish Rococo Grander, which I was instantly attracted to because of how spot-on to the Rococo movement it was.

Rococo Grandeur
Rococo Grandeur is a soft pale blue jelly with a subtle blue shimmer, pink glitters and gold glitters.

Color: Beautiful color polish, and totally true to the theme. I love it for so much for personal reasons, but outside of that it is a great color. I do not own anything like this in my stash either.

Formula: This is where this loses brownie points for me. I used 4 coats in the swatch above, the formula is a bit thick, and doesn't even out completely smooth. That being said, it did manage to get it to work for me, but I'd prefer it was better.

Price: I got this for $10.00 on the HARE's etsy site. This is currently out of stock though. Check back on HARE's website for stock updates though.

Overall: This is a beautiful polish. I love the combination of colors, and clearly I adore the theme. The formula disappoints though. For me, the theme and color > formula. This is certainly not the case for all people or all polish, so you can be the judge on whether you want this.
