Third Week Throwbacks: Julie G Hot Cinnamon

I think it's safe to say the textured nail trend is over. I think it died with 2014. I can't say I ever was into the trend, but there were a few I liked from Zoya and Julie G. They definitely find their way into my rotation every once in awhile and I still appreciate the good ones. I have a Julie G one to show you today.

Hot Cinnamon
Hot Cinnamon is a cherry red with red textured sparkle.

Collection: Julie G Frosted Gumdrops 2013

Color: I think I maybe one of the few nail addicts who love red nail polish. I think it's because it's a color that suits me best. That being said, this is a great red. I love the vibrancy of this red and it would be great for the upcoming holiday season. I like the textured look of this,  the texture particles are uniform and makes this look chic and streamlined.

Formula: Excellent easy to use one coat formula. That's one of the reasons I love textures.

Price: You can purchase this on the Jesse's Girl website for $3.99.

Overall: This is a great textured red polish. I think there were some textured fails out there -cough- Zoya Ultra Pixies-, but ones like this I don't think are outdated at this point. I like the look of it, and it's a great all around polish.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 Paint Splatters

Julie G Miami Beach

Who is ready for spring? I'm not necessarily ready for spring itself. I know many of you up north are for sure. Florida has really beautiful weather in our version of winter. We have days in the low 70's sometimes upper 60's, and it is wonderful. I cherish these days because I will yearn for them in the oppressive swampy heat come summer. I do like Florida winter, but I'm craving spring colors. I really like this Julie G color.

Miami Beach
Miami Beach is a pink-toned coral creme.

Collection: Julie G Cruise Collection  Spring/Summer 2014

Color: I love corals. I love all the variations of coral out there. This is a beautifully bright pinky coral. This isn't neon at all, but it's not a puny color either. I love the vibrancy without it screaming summer neon. This would be beautiful as pedi color too.

Formula: Excellent formula. All my Julie G's have excellent formulas. I used 2 coats here.

Price: This is $3.99 on the Jesse's Girl site. I originally purchased this at Rite Aid this past summer while in California, but I don't know if this is still on display there.

Overall: Miami Beach is beauty! I love the creaminess of the color and formula. I love the coral shade. No complaints with this one.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 Paint Splatters

Way-Cool Mani Wednesday: Summer Before Spring

I was having an epic mani fail day this past Sunday. I put on probably 5 or 6 colors, and was unsatisfied with everything. I was putting on a lot of medium purples. I then put on a purple holo, thinking a holo would do me wrong. Nope, wasn't thrilled. I decided to go in the opposite direction, and go for something blindly bright and some what obnoxious. That did the trick, and I found my mani for the week.

Polishes Used: Jesse's Girl Carolina Beach, Julie G Cabana Boy, and Essie Shine of the Times.

I think I may of been in a polish rut. I was painting my nails similar colors a lot lately and all in medium tones. This bright neon coral brought me out of the funk, and maybe into summer before spring even has begun. Oh well! This mani makes me happy, and ready to break out the more fun colors again!

Happy Wednesday!

Pastel Saran Wrap Glitter Accent Concoction

* Check out my guest post on Refined & Polished yesterday, where I talk about how replicate the saran wrap nail technique.

I have some secondary birthday nails from last week to show you. I was really proud of these nails! I wore these when I went out to lunch with some of my blogger friends for my b-day.

I started out using Julie G 9 to 5 as my base. I then topped that off using saran wrap technique with China Glaze Tart-y for the Party. I finished it with an accent of Sally Hansen Gems Big Money.

I am in LOVE with this, and really impressed with myself! I love the color combination and the glitter accent. Big Money was perfect balance because the lavender glitters mixed in with the gold match up to the lavender in China Glaze Tart-y for the Party. I think I did good considering nail art isn't my strong suit.

I'm making the most out of this mani. I've had it on since Saturday night and it's still holding strong! I don't want it to chip. This is probably one of my favorite nail looks I've ever done for myself!

What is one of your favorite nail art creations?

Happy Wednesday!
