L.A. Colors Treasure Chest

The L.A. Colors section of my Dollar Tree used to be a section I'd pass over without much thought. It was usually a handful of unoriginal or not so great colors. Lately, the Dollar Tree nearest to me has been out a fairly large selection of L.A. Colors polishes and has been rotating the colors seasonally. I came across this beauty a few weeks ago and it's a real winner.

Treasure Chest
Treasure Chest is a blue-toned purple with an intense gold glass fleck sparkle and some silver round glitters.

Collection: L.A. Colors Color Craze

Color: The finish of this polish reminds me of the polishes in the Zoya Sunshine collection 5 years ago. They're intense flecky shimmers if that makes sense. I love this finish and I adore this color. It's an intense purple shade and all of that golden and glitter magic make this polish super special.

Formula: This had an excellent formula I used 2 coats above.

Price: I paid $1 for this at Dollar Tree. I do not see this color come up on the L.A. Colors website so I'm wondering if this is an exclusive to Dollar Tree?

Overall: This polish is pretty fantastic. The finish and color are beautiful and this is a polish I'd expect to pay more than $1 for. You really can't go wrong here in any way. This is a winning polish for several obvious reasons!

L.A. Colors Infinite

As I've mentioned recently I'm on a bit of nude/neutral polish kick. I'm still in it and it's been about 2 months already. I've been wearing nude polishes for 2 months straight and I can't get enough. I know the job search kicked started it for sure as I want to be prepared for job interviews with neutral nails, but outside of that, it's really all I'm craving. I've had fun shopping around stores picking up nude polishes I never would have considered before. This L.A. Colors one recently caught my eye.

Infinite
Infinite is a soft dusty rose creme.

Collection: L.A. Colors Color Last Core

Color: I love this soft rosy color. I know this maybe an old lady color to some, but I'm really liking it. I also like that it has some cooler tones to it so it keeps it skin tone friendly for me.

Formula: Ugh, why! I have reviewed two other colors from this Color Last line (Family Ties and Ever After) and I loved the formulas and the brush. The formula on Infinite isn't good for the brush. The brushes on these polishes are thicker and wider and worked perfectly with the thinner and jelly-like formulas of Family Ties and Ever After. Infinite is a creme and it is thick and very opaque. This brush/formula combo did not work well together. It was difficult to apply and even out. It was a mess. I used 2 coats here and it was just too thick. I wish this formula was thinner and sheerer with buildability. It would have been better than 2 coat thick icky mess.

Price: This was $1.98 at Walmart.

Overall: I'm really bummed out about this one because I love this color. I also have had great experiences with this line of polishes before. So, I really encourage you not to knock this line based on my review of this one shade. I actually have Family Ties as a contender for my Top 25 of 2016, so don't knock this brand! This formula just does not work for me. I'm really grumpy about it too!

L.A. Colors Purple Passion

Hello, everyone! I've been a bit M.I.A. this week. I'm still recuperating from my Vegas trip as well as in the process of finding a job. I have a lot going on right now, but I do plan on resuming regular posting despite all that is going on! At least, I will try! I should have a lot of my Cosmoprof reviews going up next week and going forward. Thanks for your patience with me right now.

In other news, I do have a polish to share with you today. This was a Dollar Tree L.A. Colors find. The Dollar Tree closest to me does have a nice selection of L.A. Color polishes. No, the selection doesn't have the most innovative colors, but sometimes I do notice one that stands out to me that I want to try. That's how I felt about this one.

Purple Passion
Purple Passion is a bright lavender creme.

Collection: L.A. Colors Color Craze

Color: I love bright lavender cremes like this one. This color packs a punch and is far from a shy and soft lavender. Yes, there are other colors like this, but this a pretty fun and bold color for $1!

Formula: This had an excellent formula too, which is why it's a standout for me. I used 2 coats above and found the formula to be creamy and easy to apply.

Price: $1 at Dollar Tree

Overall: You really can't go wrong with a $1 polish that is a great color with a great formula to match. I really enjoy Purple Passion and I love finding gems like this even if they're not the most unique colors. I wore this color for a couple a days and loved it just as much as some more expensive lavender cremes I own.

L.A. Colors Ever After

Another brand I've had my eye on lately in stores L.A. Colors, in particular, their Color Last line. I've only seen this line at Walmart and it has a good range of maybe around 15-20 colors. The cost of them is only $1.98 per polish so that's a steal. I saw this shimmery purple shade last time and decided to check it out.

Ever After
Ever After is a sheer lavender packed with golden-purple-pink shimmer.

Collection: L.A. Colors Color Last Core

Color: I love this soft purple shade, but it's that intense shimmer that sold it for me. I love shimmers that really light up within a polish. I also really love the softness of this shade. It's shimmery, but it's still delicate.

Formula: I wasn't sure when I bought this if would be sheer or not, but it a sheer polish. That being said, this built up to this opacity in 3 coats. You may need a 4th if you have longer nails. The formula on this was superb. I absolutely love the brushes in this polish as they really pack in the polish and apply so smoothly.

Price: $1.98 at Walmart.

Overall: I was expecting to be disappointed with the sheerness and softness of this shade, but I actually really love it. I really like the softer look, especially with the shimmer. The formula on this was amazing and I really love this line of polishes.

L.A. Colors Spring Flirt

I think I just found the best nail polish find of 2015. The reason it's a the best find is because of the price which was only $1, the type of polish it is, and the quality. I spotted this little gem at Dollar Tree last week, and I was skeptical. This polish blew me away for $1. I'm very impressed.

Spring Flirt
Spring Flirt is a baby blue crelly with small and larger hot pink, purple, and sky blue matte glitters.

Collection: L.A. Color Craze Core

Color: This is the type of nail polish color you'd easily pay $8+ for from an indie brand. This is an indie type glitter polish for sure. I love the baby blue crelly base with the playful bright glitters. This is great nail polish as far as color goes. It's fun and very inventive for such low cost brand.

Formula: This is where my skepticism came in. I was convinced this would either be too sheer, really thick, or the glitters would be a pain to get out. This applied like a dream. This wasn't just a average, or even good formula, this formula was excellent. The glitters applied to nail and stayed on the nail with no effort. The formula was smooth, leveled easily, and easy to apply. I used 3 coats here.

Price: $1 at Dollar Tree.

Overall: Go out and get this polish, you will not be disappointed. This is a winning polish all around. The color is great and comparable to indie type polishes. The formula is excellent and better than mainstream polishes of this type and some indies I've tried. The polish is also one freaking dollar. Must have. Awesome, L.A. Colors. I'm impressed.

L.A. COLORS Craze

I was in for a surprise at Dollar Tree at my last visit. Dollar Tree is almost always a miss for me. I never find some of the cool stuff everyone else does. The Dollar Trees I visit typically have the same junky unheard of makeup brands. My most recent trip was different, they had a whole permanent display of L.A. Colors. I'm talking about sections for each and every color that took up a whole shelving area all organized and everything! I was impressed to see that at Dollar Tree! This is one of the colors that caught my eye.

Craze over Urban Outfitters Bandeau
Craze is a mix of neon matte pink, orange, yellow, green, and shiny blue glitters in a clear base.

Collection: L.A. COLORS Color Craze Permanent Line

Color: Look at this fun glitter for one stinking dollar! I love the neon matte glitters in this. When I saw the shiny blue glitters in the bottle I was a bit thrown off, but I love the complete look on the nail. This is spectacular.

Formula: The formula on this for $1 was good. I used 2 coats above, and this is more of a dabbing polish. I did get good coverage in 2 coats. Some of the glitters do want to stick to one another, but I'm not complaining at $1.

Price: $1 at Dollar Tree.

Overall: These finds are what I absolutely love about nail polish. Sometimes you can find winning polishes in the least expected places for a real bargain. The colors in this one are excellent. The formula is workable and nice. The best part is this is $1. Neon matte fun glitter mixes for $1 is pretty much unheard of. Thank you L.A. COLORS! Must have. Excellent find!

L.A. COLORS Reckless

I love cheap thrills nail polish. One thing I've learned is that cheap nail polish doesn't mean it's cheap quality. In my experience using a great base coat and top coat that works for you can make a $1 polish or even a $18 polish wear the same. Now, formulation may not be as great, but wear time usually is the same for me.

The best places to find cheap thrill nail polishes? Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Big Lots come to mind first. You can find good stuff there for $1-$2! I found this pretty L.A. COLORS at Dollar General.

Reckless
Reckless is a saturated medium blurple creme.

Color: This is one of those colors that under some light looks purple, and others it looks blurple. Either way, it's beautiful rich color. I love the vibrancy of it.

Formula: This isn't a buttery perfectly smooth formula. It is a bit streaky, but I could even it out in 2 coats. I'd say this is an average formula.

Price: I found this for $1.50 at Dollar General.

Overall: Gorgeous bright blurple creme shade. I have few blurple colors in my stash, but this one stands out a little brighter/lighter than the others I own. This polish at $1.50 is hard to pass up too!
