Throwbacks Week: L.A. Girl Idol

I'm starting to shop my stash for fall colors and this is one that I always reach for this season. It's an L.A. Girl Color Addict polish I've had for around 5 years. I actually think it was released around this time frame, but I don't think it's part of a special collection. You'll know why I love it so much when you see it.

Idol
Idol is a dusty denim blue with a golden-bronze micro-shimmer.

Collection: L.A. Girls Color Addict 2011(?).

Color: Yes, this has my favorite cool-toned base paired with a warm metal shimmer. I love this color combination, but I adore this base color. It's such a great fall muted blue and to be honest, I'm more of a fan of muted and dusty colors in fall than vampy ones. The shimmer in this provides a delicate touch of glitz.

Formula: The formula on this was great. I used 2 coats above. I found this formula to be creamy and opaque.

Price: Yes, you can still purchase this one! It's $4.00 on the L.A. Girl website.

Overall: This is an excellent polish for fall. The shade of the blue is gorgeous and that micro-shimmer makes this polish beautifully unique. It's definitely been a fall favorite of mine for many years.

L.A. Girl Dynamite

Neons will always be the summer trend. I think that's been pretty well established. I love neons, however, they can get repetitive. I always feel like I see the same shade of neon pink across many brands. I love that pink too, but I prefer a lighter shade of neon pink. I think I found my favorite neon pink shade by L.A. Girl from their Brites line.

Dynamite
L.A. Girl is a neon warm bubble gum creamy neon.

Color: I think a lot of neon pinks lately either go the coral-pink route or the highlighter color-jelly route. I hope you know what I mean, or else I'll sound crazy. This is a true bubble bright pink neon creme. I love the creme finish to this shade, that has to be favorite quality.

Formula: I was really expecting an average neon formula here, but this one really impressed me. This applied like a dream. The formula was buttery and smooth. Neons can be tricky to apply, but this was perfection!

Price: I got this off of Cherry Culture for $3-$4.

Overall: I love Dynamite. This is great neon creme shade. It's probably not one-of-a-kind as far as uniqueness, but it's different from other neon pinks I see out there now. The formula is awesome, and I'm very happy to have it!

L.A. Girl Teal Dimension

I have another one of the L.A. Girl 3D Effects to share with you today. I was really impressed with the color offerings in this collection. I'm sucker for blues and teals, so I had to get the teal one!

Teal Dimension
Teal Dimension is a rich teal with scattered holographic glitter.

Color: Does this not look like a foil I glued on my nail or what? This is pretty amazing. The holographic glitter in this is so strong and that teal paired with it=ahmazing.

Formula: Again, like the other this is on the sheer side. I needed used 3 coats with this one.

Price: I paid $4.00 for this on Cherry Culture.

Overall: Amazing. Stunning. Fantastic. You need this! Must have!

L.A. Girl 3D Brilliant Blue

I was not a fan of the holo glitters Zoya released last holiday season. One of the complaints I had was maybe it was the color of the polishes I didn't care for, and that if the finish had a different color attached to it I would like it more. I'm happy to say this was the case. I'm also happy the L.A. Girl took a stab at holo glitters. Yay, for awesome affordable nail polish.

Brilliant Blue
Brilliant Blue is a royal blue base with scattered holographic glitter throughout.

Color: Gorgeous! I love a rich blue. I'm such a sucker for a great blue, and the addition of this holo glitter is stunning. I typically don't like a holo glitter, but this blended in nicely with the base where it looks meant to be if that makes sense.

Formula: This is sheer. That is my downside to this polish. I used 3 coats above, and I think 4 would even make it better.

Price: I paid $4.00 for this on the Cherry Culture website.

Overall: Gorgeous rich blue polish. I love the holographic glitter, and I'd call this a must have. This a great polish for holiday time too.

L.A. Girl Birthday Cake

*Today is the last day to enter my SH Bling in the New Year mini giveaway

One of the most frustrating things when shopping for polish online is not being able to see swatches beforehand. L.A. Girl is a brand typically sold at Rite Aid. I don't have a Rite Aid. Also, L.A. Girl isn't what I'd call a very mainstream popular brand (I think it needs to be though), so swatches are few and far between.

Cherry Culture always has 20% off sales running, and I knew off hand I wanted some of their 3D Effects and Sand Blast polishes. I then came across a new line from them called "Pop". The Pop line was further divided down into smaller sub lines glitters, brights, and so on. I spotted a crelly polish with multi-colored glitter in the Pop Color Clash line called Birthday Cake. The line is so new and since L.A. Girl polishes are so hard to come by anyways, there were not any swatches. I decided to take a gamble.

Birthday Cake
Birthday Cake is a soft cool-toned bubble gum pink crelly with multi-colored glitter.

Color: I'm sure your'e wondering how this might compare to Claire's Candy Shop? Check out KellieGonzo's swatch of the Claire's one. They're different. I think the L.A. Girl one is better. The base is creamier, more opaque, and I think it's more flattering shade of pink. The glitter is much more sparse and smaller though, but I prefer it that way.

Formula: The formula on this was OK, it was sheer at first, but built up nicely in 3 coats.

Price: This is $4.00 on Cherry Culture. I would wait until they have another 20% off sale though, they have them all the time. If have a Rite Aids near you, check there!

Overall: I love Birthday Cake! This is just one of the girly and fun colors that puts a smile to your face. I love the color of the glitters in this. Pinks can be hard for me to pull off with my skin tone, but this shade is very flattering. I'm a fan, it worth the gamble.

L.A. Girl Disco Brites- Deejay

I want all the bright blues! Yes, I think I've been going through this bright blue phase since early spring. I need them all! Thankfully there are many options out there. I really love LA Girl polishes. They have a several different collections with various colors and finishes. There is really something for everyone in this brand. The problem with LA Girl? I can only find them online. I do think they sell a few at Rite Aid, but as we know there are not any Rite Aids in Florida -moment of silence for this-. I picked this  LA Girl bright blue recently on Cherry Culture.

Deejay

Deejay is a bright blue creme.

This is a great blue, and for $2.50 a bottle you'll be pleased. This one is from the Disco Brites collection, which I love. I adore Hustle from this collection too. There are so many great colors in this collection, and I'm planning on getting more. The formula on this was great, and I found it very easy to apply. Awesome blue!

L.A. Girl Glitter Addict Celebrate

I love L.A. Girl polishes.  I've steadily started to obtain more of these, and I'm starting to have a little collection going. I absolutely love their collections, namely their Disco Brites one. Their polishes are really affordable and come in such a range of finishes and colors. I just wish they sold these at CVS and Walgreens. I'd really stock up! L.A. Girl cosmetics was also a sponsor for our Central Florida Beauty Bloggers meet up. I reached out to them, and they kindly sent us some pretty polishes for us to try! This is an awesome glitter I got.

Celebrate over L.A. Girl Disco Brites Hustle

Celebrate is a mixture of red, pink, orange, light blue, dark blue, and silver tiny hexagonal and large hexagonal glitters in a clear base.

This is not a dupe to all of those other multi-colored glitters out there. This is glitter is definitely unique. It's also builds up easily. You're not going to have opaque glitter here, but with one to two coats you'll get nice coverage with it layered. I hate fishing out glitters, but this isn't the case with this one!

L.A. Girl Disco Brites-Hustle

I love when Cherry Culture has their 20% off sales. You can always count on them to have one at least every two months. What I like about Cherry Culture is they offer some small and sometimes unheard of nail polish brands like L.A. Colors, L.A. Splash, L.A. Girl, and NYX. The great thing about these brands is they have awesome color selections and are usually in the $2.00-$4.00. I picked up this L.A. Girl color during their last sale.

Hustle

Hustle is a bright royal purple creme.

This part of the Disco Brites collection, which has around 24 shades. These are black light polishes, but I do not have a black light to test it out. This polish is vivid and bright. I am so in love with it. If you're a fan of colors like China Glaze Grape Pop, you will love this one. It more vibrant Grape Pop. This was $2.50 on Cherry Culture, but I really recommend you wait until they have another sale. I plan on picking up more from this collection because I cannot get enough of bright colors like this!

LA Girls Habit

I love these LA Girls Color Addict colors. They have gold shimmer my favorite! I just wish I could find these in stores. I know you can find these repackaged at Forever 21, but they're all in big piles without real color names. It's not always easy to find what you're looking for. I know that comment probably makes me sound high-maintenance :-/. This is a pretty purple.

Habit

Habit is a violet with a golden shimmer.

Yes, purple with gold shimmer. This makes me happy. I love the formula on this. These are great polishes with an awesome color selection. I know you can find them on Cherry Culture.

LA Girls Color Addict Delirious

I feel like this week I've done so many dark colors. I don't want to wear out their welcome before winter has even started. Let's have a bright color today shall we? I am SO thrilled I found out about LA Girls Color Addict colors (thanks Girls Germs!), because a lot of them feature the elusive combination of cooler-toned colors with golden shimmer. This one is stunning!

Delirous

Delirious is a bright turquoise with a soft golden shimmer.

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. This color combination is beautiful. Can you imagine some jewelry with turquoise or aquamarine with gold? I want some! Yeah, I'm super psyched about this color combination. Blues/aquas/greens with gold is stunning. It's so luxurious to me. I could go on and on. I know it's probably strange for someone to get so excited about two colors together. You just don't see it often in the nail polish world.

*P.S. Love & Beauty polishes from Forever 21 are really repackaged LA Girls polishes. You can probably find these in their store, but they do not have their real names. It make take some digging. You can purchase the LA Girls version on Cherry Culture

LA Girl Idol

One of things I'd love to see in nail polish more often are blue polishes or any cool-toned polish with golden shimmer. Many people mentioned to me that Love & Beauty from Forever 21 has one like this. What I did not know was that Love & Beauty polishes are really repackaged LA Girl polishes. Madeline from Girl Germs thankfully let me know this. It would seem obvious since the bottles are the same, but it never crossed my mind! Many thanks tp Madeline! I picked this beauty on Cherry Culture when they had a sale along with some other purples, greens, and blues with gold shimmer! This was part of the Color Addict line.

Idol
Idol is a dusty navy with golden shimmer.

Mainstream nail polish companies China Glaze, OPI, Orly, Zoya,  (I know you've done this with purples, but please do it with blues), and etc please do blue with gold shimmer, glitter, or glass fleck combos. You will make me a very happy camper! This is such a gorgeous combination. This polish is beautiful and unique, and is right up my alley! Thank you LA Girl!

Happy Wednesday!
