Nailene Perfect Tips

This has to be my favorite Nailene product. I have been buying these since I got into nail polish almost 2 years ago. The pack I'm reviewing today is one Nailene sent me for review, but I already have about 3 of these I personally bought prior because I love them so much. These are french polish guides that are amazing for imperfectly painted gals like myself! I couldn't do any cute funky french manicures without these!
Nailene Perfect Tips are sticker tip guides you can use to do classic french manicures, funky french (Father's day manicure), half moon, or even nail art designs. I've used these to make curved stripes on my nail as nail art too for my July 4th mani. so you're not limited to using them just for french manicures. These are very easy to use but they are not entirely fool proof you do need to practice some patience with these.

I used these the other day to do a funky french with my Sinful Colors Mint Apple manicure. I go through my typical manicure routine by applying base coat and then X many coats of nail polish (this varies depending on the polish). I then skip the top coat step and let this dry for an hour. This is probably extreme and you maybe able to get away with half an hour, but I do an hour to be on the safe side. You don't want to apply these tip guides on wet nails. It will completely ruin and pull of the polish from your nails! Not good :(! Your nails need to be completely dry. After an hour I apply these on my nail. You can put them as far down or as high up on your nail as you want it's just matter of personal preference.

These are the tip guides on my nails after I put them on. I always make sure these are securely pressed down on my nail to prevent any uneven designs. I then paint on the color I want on the tips. The number of coats for the tip polish varies depending on what type of polish you are using. I usually use about 2-3 coats.

I then leave the tip guides on and let them dry for 15-20 minutes. This is important too. If you don't let the polish dry it will pull off from the tip guides and ruin your manicure :(.

After 20-30 minute drying time I pull off the tip guides and add some top coat. Then viola, you have a mess-free & stress-free funky french! I used Ulta 3 Antique Copper to paint my tips.

I hope my instructions didn't sound too complicated. These really are very easy to use you just need to have some patience to let things dry. I always have a pack of these on hand. I especially love these during holiday season when I do lots of colorful Christmas manicures, but they're great for anytime of year. You get a lot of product too. You get 3 sheets of tip guides adding up to 96 guides, so these last you awhile. I definitely recommend this product. It makes my polishing experience so much better because I don't have to worry about trying to perfect my own french manicure that would be a nightmare!

OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui & Nailene Stickers

Before making this post I wanted to do some research on Feng Shui. I knew the general idea of it had to do with design flow invoking positive energy. I started googling Feng Shui and honestly it would take me hours to write up all I found! There is all the information on colors areas of direction for particular colors/design. I always like to garner knowledge so it's definitely an interesting read and topic to look up if you're curious, but way too much information for a nail polish blog!

Suzi Says Feng Shui
I honestly wish I could describe this color to you properly. I've heard it referred to as a dusty blue or colbalt blue. I'd have to go with the "dusty" blue. I'd call it a marine blue it definitely is more of a true blue than a blue-green, but it does seem to have a hint of gray to it that mutes the color a bit. I hope that makes sense. Suffice it to say, it's a very different blue creme than many I have seen out there. While researching Feng Shui blue represents knowledge and career, but that may not be entirely correct depending on what cardinal direction the blue is located. Feng Shui is very complex!

Anyways, I had been wearing this color for a bit and decided to spice it up though that may of messed up the Feng Shui of things. Nailene kindly sent me some amazing stickers to try out so I added them for some extra sparkle and fun!
Now, if you've been reading my blog for awhile you may have remembered that I had recently overcome my fear of nail stickers. If you want to reference back to this story you can find it here. This is a new set of stickers Nailene sent me with some different options than the set I bought before. These nail stickers are great. I really love the variety of them. You have some very simplistic stars and rhinestones to some more detailed butterflies and flowers. Plus, you get a lot of stickers! I'm not one to do my own nail art. I don't own a Konad, so nail stickers are great option for me when I want to do something a bit different with my nails. These are easy and fast to apply. I don't do nail stickers often, but I think it's great to have a set of stickers like this on hand. It can really spice up a fresh manicure or give a whole new look to manicure you just don't feel like changing!

July 4th Franken Mani

Happy July 4th out there to my USA friends!

I want to thank you all for your kind comments yesterday regarding my tooth. This weekend has turned out to be pretty awful. There have been some other family things go on this weekend that made things more difficult. Between that and my tooth stuff this weekend has been pretty well....crappy. Bleh. I don't mean to be a downer really, but I can't pretend to be all happy and cheerful when that isn't really how I'm feeling. Everything will be fine though just stressful. No worries :D Nail polish cheers me up.

Anyways here is my July 4th Franken Mani!

I used my red holographic glitter franken called "Firecracker" (1/2 bottle of Pure Ice Siren & 1/2 a bottle of CoverGirl City Lights), my Essie Starry Starry Night franken, China Glaze Sexagon, & Nailene stickers.

It's a bit messy, but oh well. I'm not the greatest at nail art! :P

I used to LOVE 4th of July. It was my favorite holiday. Our family had friends growing up who always threw a great 4th of July party. They always had TONS of awesome toys they gave out to the kids, fireworks, and a great pool to swim in. It was tons of fun. I think that is the only reason it was my favorite holiday was because of those parties! Those people eventually stopped throwing those parties which really bummed me out big time! I guess they ran out of money to buy all those cool toys? Oh well! :P

Happy 4th of July!

Nail Stickers: Yay or Nay?

I’m going to talk about nail stickers today. I have had a fear of nail stickers. I have one of those aunts. I have an aunt who over does everything especially in the clothes, makeup, and beauty department. She’s the type who likes to celebrate EVERY holiday by dressing up in goofy sweaters/shirts with bells, lights, characters with googly eyes, and so on. She will even dress up for Columbus Day. In addition to her attire, she will do her nails to represent every holiday. She will paint each nail a different color and put holiday themed nail stickers on each nail sometimes even more than one. She will put turkeys, Santa Claus, Easter eggs, American flags, shamrocks, smiley faces, anthropomorphic birthday cakes, and etc.

This started a fear of nail stickers for me. I thought all nail stickers were silly turkeys, dancing leprechauns, and overly happy Hanukkah menorahs. I don’t have problems if you throw a Christmas tree on your nails, but if you saw how my aunt does this you’d understand my fear. It was taking it to the extreme! Suffice it to say, I wanted to stay as far away as possible because I didn’t want people to start thinking I get my nail inspiration from my aunt!

Anyways, recently I saw some nail stickers and to my surprise they were not all those scary things I expected.

These are made by Nailene. I believe they are around $5-$6. I really like these. They are simplistic and pretty. They have lots of options to some pearls/jewels, stars, butterflies, and cute tropical flowers. I gathered up my courage and put one on, and I love it!

This is Pure Ice Jackpot with blue hibiscus flowers on my ring finger. I really like this look! I don’t think it looks silly or ridiculous it adds and nice artsy and fun touch in the right way. I’m really glad that I tried these. I think they will become a part of some of my manicures this summer since so many of them are summer themed.

I’m also glad I got these because I don’t have a Konad and I stink at doing my own nail art. These are a great cheap alternative to doing Konads. They also are very user friendly. I put these on with 2 coats of regular top coat followed by 1 coat of Seche Vite and it worked out perfectly.

That’s it for today! Are there any nail things you’ve tried recently that you love or things you’re unsure about trying on your nails? If, so please share in the comment section.

Have a great Saturday!
