Milani High Speed Fast Dry Spring 2013

I have another Milani review for you all today. These are 6 new shades for the High Speed Fast Dry One Coat Formula line. These feature a brand new wider brush and have 60 second dry time.

L-R:
Quick Teal, Flaming Race, Rapid Orchid, Pink Express, Instant Pearl, & Move on Mauve

Quick Teal
Quick Teal is a medium teal creme.

Flaming Race
Flaming Race is a vibrant red-coral creme.

Rapid Orchid
Rapid Orchid is blackened plum creme.

Pink Express
Pink Express is a pastel pink creme.

Instant Pearl
Instant Pearl is a white shimmer pearl.

Move on Mauve
Move on Mauve is a mauve with a violet shimmer.

Color: Quick Teal, Flaming Race, and Pink Express are great colors! Rapid Orchid definitely looks like black versus a purple shade. I still do really like this one because it's very glossy. I honestly can't get on board with Instant Pearl and Move on Mauve. These do not seem like modern colors to me. I really feel these could of been replaced with something like a bright blue creme and an on trend nude.

Formula: Sadly, these are not one-coat formulas. I used 2-3 coats on all of these. I did find some of the formulas a little uneven and not the easiest to apply. I'm thinking the unevenness could be because of the wider brush. I personally struggle with wider brushes, so this may just be my experience?

Overall: I love Milani and their recent Texture collection was a huge home run for me! I also loved their Jewel FX and One Coat Glitters line. These new High Speed Fast Dry colors are not completely cutting it for me. These do dry fast. There are some hits and misses here as far as color and formulation. If you had me choose favorites, I would go with Quick Teal, Rapid Orchid, and Pink Express. I think the pigmentation and formula on these are the best.  I'm not really feeling the others in the collection so much, but that could just be me.

The six new Milani High Speed Fast Dry shades are available at CVS, Target, Walgreens, Walmart, Kmart and Milani's website for $4.99 each.

Sally Hansen Whisper

* I have created a personal blog. This blog will be for me talk about anything and everything. I will not update frequently, just when the mood strikes. If you'd like to follow feel free

Have you ever found polish that represents everything you hate about a nail polish color, but you end up loving it? This i show I feel about this next polish. I saw the Sally Hansen Smooth & Perfect line a few times and was intrigued by the soft colors. I ended up picking up Whisper because in the store it looked like a soft lilac creme. It was not until I got home that I realized it wasn't a creme, but a shimmer. I instantly thought I'm going to hate this, but I really don't.

Whisper

Whisper is a pale lilac frosty/pearlized shimmer.

Yeah, I'm not sure how to describe it. Based on Lacqurzied's guide, I'm going to go with a pearl, but since that is a lesser known finish I think frost would suffice as well. First of all I really hate frosts, and I do not have a lot of luck with paler shades. This has all the components to be a polish fail for me, but I really do like it. I like the softness of it. It is subdued, and I think it comes off more as one of those clean sheer pink and nude type colors than an obnoxious frost? At least it does in my book. I'm sure this color wouldn't be popular among many polish fans, but it scored a point in my book.

Happy Thursday!

How does it feel to be 24? & Giveaway Winner!

Hasn't that always been an awkward question? I found it always so strange when it's your birthday for people to ask how it feels to be X years old. That being said today is my 24th birthday and it doesn't feel any different than being 23...or 22. I'm not sure what exactly you are supposed to feel when you age one more year :P. I'm sorry I sound cynical! I am excited about it being my birthday though! Birthdays after 21 lose their excitement which is fine by me I never was one to really go all out for birthdays. I just like celebrating with close family and friends by doing fun activities and having a nice dinner. My boyfriend and I are going to have dinner tonight at Downtown Disney and my parents are coming visit for a few days on Sunday which I'm looking forward to! I haven't seen them since February. I'm excited about the next 2 weeks!

I figured I'd share with you the polishes I got for my birthday from Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes! She's so sweet from sending me these goodies. I really appreciate her kindness and her friendship. She's an all around great gal!

China Glaze Branding Iron
Branding Iron is up there in my favorite China Glazes of all time. It's not surprise because in my opinion it came from one of their best collections Rodeo Diva. Branding Iron is a rich burgundy shimmer that practically glows in sunlight or any kind of kind of light. I love colors like this rich bold colors are my style.

China Glaze Wagon Trail
Wee!!! Wagon Trail has been on my lemming list for some time now and I'm so happy I have it now! It is also from the Rodeo Diva collection. It's a black creme mixed in a deep golden shimmer. This one of those one-of-kind color! I could say more, but this one speaks for itself!

Nail Tek Scarlet Starlet
I didn't know Nail Tek made colors, but I'm not complaining. This is a beautiful pearl-like red. I'd say it's a true red with beautiful shimmer. I love reds and this is no exception of love the finish of it best of all!

 Foilesque Rose Dust
This was a franken made by Lacquerware of Tips and Toes. Isn't it gorgeous! I have zero colors like this. It's a rosy pink foil. It has a metallic silvery quality that is very unique and pretty. It's a great franken!

Orly Orange Sorbet
Orange Sorbet was another one on my lemming list. Doesn't this color look delicious though I don't recommend eating it. It's lighter orange with gold shimmer throughout. Gold shimmer again a favorite of mine. It makes me think of orange smoothies and tropical locations. It's a very pretty color.

Now it's time to announce my giveaway winner! I want to thank everyone for entering it was fun!

The winner is......

Deanna from Lorraine Nails!

Congrats!

That's it for today! Thanks again to Lacquer Ware for these and making my birthday a little extra special!

Happy Monday!

Confetti-CVS Brand Review

I've seen a few bloggers recently post about new brand of nail polish displayed called "Confetti". I've heard it dubbed CVS's version of Sinful Colors. They have a wide selection of colors that are $2 a piece. I bought 3 and I'm going to give you my review on the brand.

Here is the display

Pros:
-Wide selection of colors
-Great price

Cons:
-Limited selection in finishes
-Formula was a bit thick
-Some brushes were misshapen
-Very basic colors

Overall, I'm on the fence leaning towards not liking this brand. There are things I really like about it. If you are just starting up a nail collection I think this brand would be good. You can find many popular colors and get your basics covered for a cheaper price. I also found this brand helpful for me even though I have a large collection. It would be a great brand to go to fill in holes in your collection. If you're missing certain colors or you want to dabble in a new color you're never tried to before this brand would work out well. I saw a shade called "Moonstruck" that looked just like $OPI Metro Chic. It is great in that sense being able to substitute pricey colors for lesser expensive ones.

The things I didn't like is when I saw this display at a price of $2 a bottle I was so excited. At $2 I knew I could fill up my basket without feeling guilty. However, these colors didn't "wow" me. I didn't really see anything I hadn't seen before. I found the colors very basic except for a handful. I'd say probably 80% of the brand were cremes. There were hardly any shimmers or glitters. The application of the ones I bought were inconsistent, and I as left with bald spots after 3-4 coats. Also, some of the formulas were quite thick and the brushes on 2 of them were misshaped and frayed out.

If I were to compare Confetti to Sinful Colors. Sinful Colors would take the cake. They have a more interesting and unique selection. Their formula is also much better. I wouldn't completely dismiss Confetti though. They did have some colors Sinful didn't. I would probably shop the brand if I was looking for some specific I didn't want to spend more money on.

Here are the colors I got...

Dreamdate

Dreamdate is a sheer shimmery baby pink with iridescent gold I'd almost say glass fleck? I'm not sure how to describe the finish. I really love this one. I think it would be better off for layering, but it's a nice soft shade with some extra sparkle!

Belle of the Ball

First of all I apologize. Before I took the photo it looked like I had full coverage on the nail, but I guess not. This was 3 coats. Belle of the Ball is a light purple creme. Like I said before, this is a color I don't have in my collection, so I saw this as a good polish to add since I wasn't really lemming a similar color from a specific brand. The application and formula of this was pretty awful. My brush was frayed, the formula was thick, and I was left with bald spots. That being said I like the color and I'm hoping some nail polish thinner will help it out!

Blue Bombshell

Blue Bombshell is a VERY sheer pearl-like shimmer blue. This is a very pretty color. This was the only polish of the 3 I bought that the brush wasn't messed up and the formula seemed normal. I like this color, but be prepared to layer on some coats.

That's all I got. The more I write the more I realized how I am more displeased with this brand than pleased. These are just my opinions though and I encourage you to try them out for yourself. I'm not going to cut them off completely, but I know what to expect in the future!

Have you tried this brand? What are your thoughts?

Have a great Thursday!

Update:I've been seeing a lot of reviews of this brand today. Many people seem to like it and are not having formula/application/brush troubles like me. I just want to throw out there it is very possible that 2 of the 3 bottles I got were just bad bottles! I definitely do not want to deter anyone from purchasing or trying this brand because I think it does have some positive points. I just wanted to throw that out there. :)

Yuck! I HATE this color!

I am sure I'm not the only one to have that reaction to a nail polish color. As much as we all love nail polish we have to admit we have come across colors that we hate and kick ourselves for buying.

This is how feel about a particular color. Now, before I get into it this is my personal opinion on this color. You may love this color and it may look good on you, but for me it doesn't work out.

The color I'm talking about is Misa Fleeting Hibiscus. I have 2 reasons for buying this one of them being a petty reason the other being what I thought was a valid reason. The petty reason is I love hibiscus flowers, so I was drawn to the name. The valid reason is I saw a swatch of this somewhere else and it looked way different than what I came up with!

Misa Fleeting Hibiscus

Fleeting Hibiscus can best be described as crushed up chalky Pepto Bismol stomach tablets that is mixed in with the poop from a bird who swallowed frosty eye shadow from my wacky aunt who likes to wear overly happy Christmas tree nail stickers on her nails. I'm very susceptible to the power of suggestion or I'm just a hypochondriac. I see something that reminds me of Pepto Bismol and it makes me nauseous. My mom used to shove that stuff down my throat when I was sick saying it would make me feel better, but it never did it just made me throw up. Suffice it, i to say Pepto Bismol colors literally make me queasy because of what they remind me of :P.

Ok, to be fair a more appropriate description would be... that this is a frosty-pearl baby pink. I hate this. This looks terrible on my skin tone and I think it makes my hands look sickly. This looks like frosty chalk that someone mixed in water and called it nail polish. I really don't like it. I saw a swatch of this and it looked like a brighter pink with silver shimmer. I was wrong. I shouldn't of been so impulsive to by it because of the name and with only seeing one swatch. You live and you learn. However, as much as I despise this color I'm sure it may look nice on someone, but it isn't my cup of tea. I'm sure some of you may even love this color. No worries, I will not hold it against you. We all have different tastes. :)

Is there a color you absolutely hate? What color is it?

Happy Wednesday!
