Salon Perfect In Too Deep

I've been trying lately to take notice of nail polish in stores. I've been let down by mainstream lately, and drugstore polishes don't do much for me either. I just don't even bother looking these days, but the past few weeks I've been taking a second glance. I have noticed some new colors at Walmart and this one caught my eye from the Salon Perfect brand.

In Too Deep
In Too Deep is a true primary blue jelly.

Collection: Salon Perfect Neon Pop

Color: This is part of their neon line, but this isn't neon to me. This your good ol' primary color blue. It's a true blue. It's even more saturated than my camera could pick up. I love this color and honestly don't think I have a blue as true as this color.

Formula: Oy vey, this was somewhat of a mess. The formula on this was very thin and loose. It applied unevenly and this was just a messy polish. I had to apply 3 coats for opacity and even then you can see it's just uneven.  It's somewhat expected in a color with pigmentation like this, but it could of been better.

Price: This was $3.99 at Walmart.

Overall: I don't hate this, I just wish it were better. It's not the worst polish by any means, I prefer a thinner formula over a thicker one. This formula was messy and I can definitely see it staining your skin if you get it on it. It was uneven and just not a joy to work with. I love the color though. This is just one of those polish where you cant have it all.

Salon Perfect Electric Grape

I am in a total purple phase. The past 2 years I was in a blue phase. This year it's all about the purple. I've been buying every purple shade of lipstick out there. I want purple everything. I love purple. I was drawn to this Salon Perfect Electric Grape shade a recent trip to Walmart, and decided to give it a go.

Electric Grape
Electric Grape is a medium neon-ish purple with red and blue micro glitter.

Color: I adore this color, but it's not as a great as I expected. The glitter in this looks pretty puny, and doesn't add the pop I really wanted.

Formula: Terrible. This had the weirdest formula. It was thick, streaky, goopy, and just all around awful. I thoroughly hated this formula.

Price: I think I got this for $4.00 at Walmart.

Overall: I like the color of this, but it fell through on all other counts. Very disappointing.

Salon Perfect Bang

I have another one of the Salon Perfect matte neon glitters to show you today. I'm really hoping Salon Perfect comes out with some other cool polishes. I was really surprised to see a brand at Walmart come up with such a cool polish concept. Keep it up!

Bang over Cult Nails Nevermore
Bang is a mix of orange, yellow, and a few random pink matte glitters in a clear base.

Color: Nice vibrant mix of colors. I did a poor choice of using a black base with this. This looks like bird vomit. I'm sorry I failed you all on this one. The color is actually pretty neat, just use a different base. If you don't mine layering on the coats, you can do that too. Bird vomit isn't so cute.

Formula: The formula was on the thick side, but not terrible. This definitely needs some top coat to smooth this out.

Price: I paid around $4 for this at Walmart

Overall: I really can't get passed the bird vomit. I don't like to hide my poor choices from you all though because we all make them. Outside of the bird vomit, this is a cool mix of bright colors. I think I'm forever scarred by bird vomit though.

Salon Perfect Shocked

I love indies. I will always love indies, but when I see a brand create indie-type polishes that are available at a massive retailer for under $4, I am over the moon. Thank you Hard Candy, and now thank you Salon Perfect! I know this allows for more people to get to experience awesome polishes because they are cheaper and easier to find. Salon Perfect has released a handful of awesome neon matte glitter shades for summer, and I had to get my hands on some. This is one I picked up.

Shocked over Cult Nails Nevermore
Shocked is a mixture of bright pink and blue neon matte glitters in a clear base.

Color: Awesome! This a great color combination. I used 2 coats over a base. I really recommend using a base with these. These are buildable, but I don't think you will get 100% coverage on it's own. I think it looks awesome over black, but it would look awesome over so many other colors too!

Formula: The formula is a bit on the thick side. I didn't find this hard to work with at all though. This does dry matte, but a coat of top coat resolved that.

Price: I paid $3.98 for this at Walmart. Be sure to look in the check out area for a large display of these polishes. I checked the cosmetics section and didn't see any of these. I was really disappointed until I went to the front of the store and saw massive display of all of them!

Overall: Shocked is an awesome polish. I think if you're a fan of glitters like this I can't see any reason why you'd pass up on this one? The price is right and if you're in the US this should be easy to find. I'd say it's a must have!
