Orly Space Cadet

I'm sure all of you are familiar with this color by now. It is part of the Orly Cosmix FX collection. This is the only color I got from the collection because according to many bloggers the rest of them have dupes. I think Galaxy Girl is somewhat of an exception because the dupe of that one is an Urban Decay color, but that color didn't interest me. To see comparisons I recommend viewing  Scrangie's post. I took many photos of Space Cadet because it truly offers you a rainbow of colors at every angle it doesn't matter if you're in the light or dark it's amazing!

Space Cadet
This is the color with flash. Here it looks like a smokey purple foil.

This is underneath a lamp. It looks greenish-pink-gold.

This is at another angle underneath a lamp. It looks olive-bronze here.

Here again, is another angle under lamp. It looks like a rose gold or bronze.
This outside in the sunlight. It looks like a greenish-silver color with hints of pink and gold.

Finally this is in the shade. It looks greenish-purple-gold.

Yeah, to sum it all up this is a brilliant polish. It is an amazing duochrome foil that I honestly can't tell you what color it is. I'd say depending on how you look at it the color could be green, gold, purple, grey, or bronze with the addition of hints of other colors because of the duochrome factor. This color is the queen of unique. It's not only unique, but it's very innovative. It's about time they come out with polishes like this! I believe MAC is following suit with this style and creating 2 dupes of Space Cadet & Galaxy Girl + their own original color in their Venomous Villians collection. I may have to break my under $10 rule again just for that color called Bad Fairy. :-/

I also cannot see how anyone could not find this color amazing! My dad is the exception I told him about this color and he said it looked like mold from the starship Enterprise on Star Trek. It's some pretty awesome mold then huh? These retail for $10 each. I would easily pay $10 for this. I wouldn't hesitate for a second. It is completely worth it.  You don't have to pay $10 though! I bought this one off Transdesign for $5. Sadly, they are currently out of Space Cadet, but fear not Victoria Nail Supply has Space Cadet in stock also for $5! I'm sure Transdesign will restock again soon. If you can't get these online, like I said before I think it is totally worth the $10!

Happy Tuesday!

Nailene Perfect Tips

This has to be my favorite Nailene product. I have been buying these since I got into nail polish almost 2 years ago. The pack I'm reviewing today is one Nailene sent me for review, but I already have about 3 of these I personally bought prior because I love them so much. These are french polish guides that are amazing for imperfectly painted gals like myself! I couldn't do any cute funky french manicures without these!
Nailene Perfect Tips are sticker tip guides you can use to do classic french manicures, funky french (Father's day manicure), half moon, or even nail art designs. I've used these to make curved stripes on my nail as nail art too for my July 4th mani. so you're not limited to using them just for french manicures. These are very easy to use but they are not entirely fool proof you do need to practice some patience with these.

I used these the other day to do a funky french with my Sinful Colors Mint Apple manicure. I go through my typical manicure routine by applying base coat and then X many coats of nail polish (this varies depending on the polish). I then skip the top coat step and let this dry for an hour. This is probably extreme and you maybe able to get away with half an hour, but I do an hour to be on the safe side. You don't want to apply these tip guides on wet nails. It will completely ruin and pull of the polish from your nails! Not good :(! Your nails need to be completely dry. After an hour I apply these on my nail. You can put them as far down or as high up on your nail as you want it's just matter of personal preference.

These are the tip guides on my nails after I put them on. I always make sure these are securely pressed down on my nail to prevent any uneven designs. I then paint on the color I want on the tips. The number of coats for the tip polish varies depending on what type of polish you are using. I usually use about 2-3 coats.

I then leave the tip guides on and let them dry for 15-20 minutes. This is important too. If you don't let the polish dry it will pull off from the tip guides and ruin your manicure :(.

After 20-30 minute drying time I pull off the tip guides and add some top coat. Then viola, you have a mess-free & stress-free funky french! I used Ulta 3 Antique Copper to paint my tips.

I hope my instructions didn't sound too complicated. These really are very easy to use you just need to have some patience to let things dry. I always have a pack of these on hand. I especially love these during holiday season when I do lots of colorful Christmas manicures, but they're great for anytime of year. You get a lot of product too. You get 3 sheets of tip guides adding up to 96 guides, so these last you awhile. I definitely recommend this product. It makes my polishing experience so much better because I don't have to worry about trying to perfect my own french manicure that would be a nightmare!

Milani Tropical Fiesta

As much as I whine and moan about wanting it to be fall, it still is summer and will be for awhile. So, I'll share with you one of my favorite go to summer colors. I think I have a go to color for every season. For me, go to colors are the colors I reach for when I'm at a loss for what to paint my nails. I either don't really feel like going through my stash or I just can't make up my mind at all. In my case, they are usually pretty standard colors they are not overly unique or different, but they're nice colors that do the job.

Tropical Fiesta
Tropical Fiesta is a bright warm pink creme. It's a bright color, but it's not neon. I really like this shade a lot. It works great as a mani, but I prefer it more so for a pedicure, It's that perfect summer pink creme. I think it's universally flattering. Like I said, this is far from unique, but it works as a great summer color. I've never been unhappy with this on my nails!

Do you have any go to colors? What are they?

Happy Sunday!

Mint Green: Mission Accomplished

Since the beginning of this blog I have complained about not finding a mint green that works on me. I really was never into the mint green fad for the reason I stated above. It's a rarity for a pastel creme to work on my skintone. They usually make my hands look really red or really sickly. However, I never thought about trying maybe a darker mint green with some shimmer, until I came across Sinful Colors Mint Apple. This is a color I've seen multiple times in stores but bypassed every time assuming like other mints it wouldn't work on me. I finally got to try it thanks to a nice swap with PinkNailBlog!

Sinful Colors Mint Apple
Mint Apple is a medium mint/sea foam green with silver/champagne color shimmer mixed in. I LOVE this shade. This is coming from someone who despised mint colors, so this is saying a lot. I think that the darker color and the addition of shimmer makes it more appealing and work better with my light skintone.  The only issue I had with the polish is the formula was a bit thick and goopy. I was able to thin it out nicely with nail polish thinner.

I never thought I'd ever be able to wear a color like this, so I'm thrilled to now have this in my collection. I am proudly wearing this shade for the next few days. I also never realized that mint green is a nice complementary shade to other colors. This shade would look nice with an array of different outfits.

What is your favorite mint green?

Happy Saturday!

Ulta, TransDesign, + Sally's Haul

I'm not feeling great today, so I'm not feeling up to a normal post. I figured I would show you some recent damage I did. Ulta, TransDesign, & Sally's are dangerous places. Thankfully, I had an Ulta gift card, but I have no excuse for the rest! :P Swatches will be coming in the future!

I just mixed everything up.  The only things from Sally's are the China Glaze & Finger Paints. I got Space Cadet from Transdesign . They have the Cosmix colors for $5.
