Urban Outfitters Intergalactic

As we all know Urban Outfitters over the past few months has surprised us with some awesome nail polishes lately. I went in there a few weeks ago and spotted a few new polishes. This one, I'm going to show you today immediately caught my eye. I'm such a sucker for red and black.

Intergalactic
Intergalactic is a black jelly-like  polish loaded with micro red glitter.

Color: I absolutely adore this color combination! I wouldn't say this is unique though. This reminds me of China Glaze Lubu Heels or Milani Garnet Gems. I am in love with it anyways. My only complaint with this polish and others like this is the black base tends to overpower the glitter. I'd love if this glitter just popped a teeny bit more.

Formula: Formula was OK. I used 3 coats here. I've noticed while Urban Outfitters has awesome colors, they tend to lack great formulas. This was a bit thick and it dried very matte and dull. I added top coat to it and that resolved that problem easily.

Price: Urban Outfitters has this ongoing deal of 2 for $8 polishes. You can also purchase this one on their website

Overall: I really do like this one despite the formula and it's similarities to other polishes. I think colors like this are hot! I think this color looks really good on me too. I know that's really egotistical :-/. If you have a color like this already you can probably pass this up, but if not I say why not check it out?

Starlight and Sparkles Duochrome & Holo Topcoats

* I received the following polishes for my honest review by Starlight and Sparkles.

I have some duochrome topcoats and holographic top coat to share with you today by Starlight and Sparkles. Starlight and Sparkles is an indie polish brand you can find on Etsy who specializes in awesome top coats and holographic polishes. I was very impressed with the selection I received to review, and I think you will enjoy these too.

Unicorn over Cult Nails Nevermore
Unicorn is a color shifting top coat that shifts from green to blue.

Phoenix over Cult Nails Nevermore
Phoenix is a color shifting top coat that shifts from red-orange-gold-to a golden green.

Dragon over Cult Nails Nevermore
Dragon is a color shifting top coat that shifts from golden green-gold-to an orange.

Starlight is a holographic top coat.

Color: These are all great top coats! I was very impressed with the quality of these. I was particularly very impressed with the Starlight holographic top coat. I've tried holographic top coats from other indies and found them to be cloudy, murky, or cast a gray cast on my base polish. This was not the case at all with Starlight holographic top coat. This was hands down the best holographic top coat I have ever tried. The holographic quality is crisp and intense. The duochrome color shifting top coat colors are great, and would look awesome over various colors. My favorite color shifting top coat is Dragon because I found it to have the strongest color shift.

Formula: I was pleased with the formula on all of these. They had the right consistency that made them easy to apply evenly on the nail.

Price: You can purchase the 5ml bottles of these for $4.50 and the 15ml bottles for $10.00. There is also an option to purchase the trio of Unicorn, Phoenix, and Dragon in the 5ml bottles for $12.00 and the same trio in the 15ml for $27.00. You can purchase these polishes on Starlight and Sparkles Etsy site

Overall: I really loved these polishes! I was very impressed with their quality, and I must say Starlight holographic top coat stole the show for me.

Salon Perfect Shocked

I love indies. I will always love indies, but when I see a brand create indie-type polishes that are available at a massive retailer for under $4, I am over the moon. Thank you Hard Candy, and now thank you Salon Perfect! I know this allows for more people to get to experience awesome polishes because they are cheaper and easier to find. Salon Perfect has released a handful of awesome neon matte glitter shades for summer, and I had to get my hands on some. This is one I picked up.

Shocked over Cult Nails Nevermore
Shocked is a mixture of bright pink and blue neon matte glitters in a clear base.

Color: Awesome! This a great color combination. I used 2 coats over a base. I really recommend using a base with these. These are buildable, but I don't think you will get 100% coverage on it's own. I think it looks awesome over black, but it would look awesome over so many other colors too!

Formula: The formula is a bit on the thick side. I didn't find this hard to work with at all though. This does dry matte, but a coat of top coat resolved that.

Price: I paid $3.98 for this at Walmart. Be sure to look in the check out area for a large display of these polishes. I checked the cosmetics section and didn't see any of these. I was really disappointed until I went to the front of the store and saw massive display of all of them!

Overall: Shocked is an awesome polish. I think if you're a fan of glitters like this I can't see any reason why you'd pass up on this one? The price is right and if you're in the US this should be easy to find. I'd say it's a must have!

Color Club Blue-Ming

A few weeks ago this picture from Totalbeauty.com was circulating Pinterest and some Facebook groups. There were a lot of people asking what color nail polish the person in the picture was wearing. I completely understood. The polish in the picture looked awesome! What I also knew is that color nail polish in the picture was photoshopped. I mean, who has neon yellow cuticles? As it turns out, it was photoshopped, and in the original picture (Sorry, I can't find it now) the polish was yellow. However, this didn't stop me from trying to find a dupe to the photoshopped polish color.

There was something clearly unique about this color. It was a lot brighter and more blue than many of countless minty aqua greens out there. I scoured my stash and the internet, and  that's when I came across Color Club Blue-Ming from the Spring 2012 Blossoming collection. I didn't think it was an exact dupe, but as close as it was going to get!

Color Club Blue-Ming
Blue-Ming is a bright pastel aqua creme.

Color: This is unique. I know it doesn't seem like it, but it is. Check out this comparison over at Caitt's Nails. In my own stash, Blue-Ming stood out as clearly lighter and more blue than my other colors in this family. Blue-Ming wasn't even close to any of the other colors I had like it.

Formula: This is where this one fails on me. It's streaky and hard to apply. It's far from the worst formula ever, but it's definitely not good. I managed to get it to work out ok, but still...meh.

Price: I got this one ebay for around $4. I know the retail price is slightly higher.

Overall: I adore this color. It is unique, bright, and perfect for summer. The formula is not good, but for a color like this I can make a bit of an exception.
