The Makeup Show Orlando (Extremely Pic Heavy)

Imperfectly Painted headed to The Makeup Show Orlando this past weekend. I have never been to anything like this before, so it was a very new and eye opening experience. I have to admit prior to going I was very intimidated. I'm just a casual nail blogger, I do not have a background in the beauty industry, and I'm not blogging professionally. I did not want to seem as if I did not belong or feel out of place. Thankfully, as soon as I attended the blogger preview and was surrounded by my blogging friends my fears subsided. This beauty industry is full of amazingly talented, creative, and welcoming people! They were really appreciative of all of us bloggers there, and recognized how we are an asset in this industry.

The weekend started with Saturday where us bloggers had a special blogger preview..just for us!

We were welcomed by the lively, funny, and amazing, James Vincent- one of the directors of The Makeup Show and a makeup artist himself.

He explained to us his background, the details of the show, and all of the talented speakers and makeup artists who would be there. My favorite part of this is when James revealed to us what his favorite TV show was. It's the Golden Girls! That is my favorite TV show too! That made me giddy!

The Makeup Show also graciously put together some amazing swag bags for us.

Then we had three surprise pop-in visitors come in--Koren Zander of Enkore MakeupElessa Jade of Pursebuzz. I'm just nail blogger here, but I definitely know these two! I was an avid Youtube viewer before I was a blogger, and it's amazing how these people have made a business out of their love for all things beauty.

Elessa showed us some of her makeup brushes.

Koren shared with us some of his upcoming products.

We also had AJ Crimson of Kissable Couture stop in and show us his new foundation line.

This was a great preview! It really helped me ease into the weekend and was very informative. There is so much passion these people have for this industry and it absolutely shows. I am always impressed and inspired by people doing what they love, and this was a perfect example.

Below is the assortment of goodies we got in our swag bags! We received products from Zuca, EmbryolisseCrown Brush , Stila, Makeup For Ever, Smashbox, and Senna Cosmetics.

The next two days Sunday and Monday were all dedicated to the actual show. The show was crazy! I mean crazy in a good way though. There tons and tons of people and a lot to explore. I admit I was a bit overwhelmed, and I could of done a better job of taking more photos. It was a lot to take in though, so I did the best I could.

Senna Cosmetics

Inglot

Crown Brushes

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics--Woo hoo! Nail polish!

Magnolia Makeup

On Sunday, they also had a blogger panel. This is where some of our Central Florida Beauty Bloggers--Phyrra, Clumps of Mascara, and Let Them Have Polish answered great questions about being a beauty  blogger.

One of the highlights from the show was that Cult Nails had a booth there! I got to help on at the booth on Sunday and Monday. It was a blast. I loved it! Nail polish is my thing (duh), and I have a lot of Cult Nails products so it was fun to share that with so many interested people at the show. It was very much my element, and I found it very rewarding. I'm so thankful Maria let me and the other bloggers help her out, and I hope the experience was very successful for her.

Look at all the Cult Nails polishes!

Here are some of the things I purchased at the show..

Enkore Makeup Brush Roll, OCC nail polishes in Grandma & Chlorophyll, Kissable Couture lip glosses in Johnny, Glamour, and Mysterious, Cult Nails Charlatan, Tied Up, & Nevermore, Makeup For Ever Invisible Cover HD Foundation, Amerikan Body Art  Franken-Polish Suspension Base (so cool!), and I received Cult Nails upcoming Behind Closed Doors collection to review.

Overall, I am so grateful for the experience I had at The Makeup Show. It was really one of the best adventures I've had. I enjoyed seeing people in their element and living their life passion. That is something that is meaningful to me. While, I do not see myself in the beauty industry personally, as a blogger who loves beauty products and just as a human I have so much respect for people who do what they love. It was also so wonderful to be surrounded by so many friends I have made through blogging. They have really changed my life, and made me feel a part of something special. Many thanks to The Makeup Show for allowing bloggers to be a part of their show and for welcoming us with open arms!

Below is a list of the bloggers who attended the show. There are some of them who have posts up about The Makeup Show already, but many of them will be adding their posts soon so please check back!

Sindie Pop! Lacquer- Golden Raspberries

I have a pretty autumn indie polish from you. This is another polish from Sindie Pop! Lacquer. I absolutely loved her fall collection. This is one of the other fall polishes I picked up last month when she released the collection.

Golden Raspberries

Golden Raspberries is a dusty rosy-mauve packed hex gold glitters in different sizes.

I love this. You know I do. It has gold glitter! I love these colors together. This was the first color I saw from Sindie Pop! Lacquer's fall collection that let me know I would love this indie brand. It is a beautiful color combination that I have not seen yet. This was also 2 coats! Yes, 2 coats! This color is also so perfect for fall, and it's not even an expected fall nail polish shade either. So in love. I'm calling it a must have in my book!

I purchased this from Sindie Pop! Lacquer's shop for $8.00. Be sure to like her Facebook page too!

Happy Monday!

I'm writing you all completely exhausted and with aching feet. I spent today at The Makeup Show Orlando. I'm sure you've been seeing my updates today on my social media sites. This was my first every beauty show, and it was amazing! Insane, but amazing. It so much fun and so overwhelming (in a good way) at the same time. I also was able to help out Cult Nails with her booth! It was a lot of fun. I have a lot of Cult Nails, and it was awesome to be able to introduce so many people to this brand. I'm thankful I get to go back for a bit tomorrow to catch stuff I missed. This next week I'll be compiling my posts and photos from the show for you all. There are so many amazing people in the beauty industry!

Favorite Polishes: Essence Back to black and Late at night, Avon Splendid blue, Zoya Veruschka . . . Basically any dark nail polish will do :)

Imperfectly Painted and Proud!

I'm sure many of are familiar with some of drama going on lately. What is going on around now, is not new to the nail polish community. There has always been cattiness as far as bloggers skills, clean up jobs, and so forth. It's nothing new to me, sadly. I don't want to bring more any more attention to the negativity with that. While I disagree with it, I will not attack those involved, and I hope that you all will do the same.

What I'd like to really address is the immense outpouring of support of bloggers and nail addicts on this topic. I'm so glad so many people rose to the occasion, and took a stand against negativity in our nail polish community. If you've followed my blog for awhile you know that it has always been in my best interest to be supportive, empowering, and positive as a blogger and as a friend to my readers. I never want anyone to feel diminished, insecure, or inferior as a person based on what some peoples standards are. As a blogger myself I especially do not want any other bloggers, new bloggers, or potential bloggers to feel that way.

In effort to show that perfection is not mandatory in this blogger world I'm going to show you a mani swatch from one of my first blog posts, and a mani swatch from my most recent blog post.

The picture on the left was from a post on April 28th 2010 and on the post on the right was from this past Friday's post

Honestly, it took me a heck of a lot of time in these past 2 years to get decent at painting my nails. I'd safely say it took me longer than the average person to start getting better at painting my nails.

You know what helped me improve?

Blogging.

I guarantee you, if I had stopped blogging in April of 2010, I'd still be painting my nails the same way I did back then. I'd say the same if I never blogged. It's through my blogging experience I've learned better painting techniques and better camera skills. I did not stop to learn how to do these things before I made a post. I did not let my lack of skills going into it discourage me from continuing to be a blogger. I learned along the way, and I thank you for sticking with me! Everyone starts somewhere. If you need any inspiration you can look back in my archive at my older posts and do the same of some of your favorite bloggers. You will see none of us were pros at polishing!

There are people who are going to prefer to see things a certain way. There are going to be people who are not going to hold back sharing their opinion on that. As someone who is sensitive myself, and who is sensitive to others feelings that bothers me. There are always more encouraging ways to do things, especially to bloggers who really put a lot of thought, heart, and dedication into our blogs. I'd prefer people be more kind and compassionate, but I can't change people.

What I can do is tell you that there are so many nail lovers and bloggers out there who do not think you need to be perfect polishers, with pristine photos, and 5 star blogs to be accepted and welcomed into the blogging community. Do not let naysayers stifle your joy and passion for nail polish and sharing your photos. I will always be a friend and supportive to all of you. I also promise always to stand up to what I believe is wrong.

Love to you all!

Barielle June Bug

Don't hate me everyone. This is a color I don't believe you can find anymore unless you get really lucky. I happened to by a stroke of luck come across this one in a blog sale. I want to share it with you all because it's so pretty and it's been a color I've wanted for awhile. I know a lot of blog readers don't like it when bloggers share HTF polishes, but let me share this pretty please??? :D

Barielle June Bug

June Bug is a steely blue-grey with a bright aqua shimmer and sparse fuchsia and sliver glitter.

This is a beautiful polish I've been wanting for a few years. It's long discontinued and out of sight. I pretty much gave up on every trying to find it, but I got lucky! This is where blog sales are AWESOME. I've found some of the best polishes through blog sales. If there is a polish you've been looking for a long time, don't count it out, blog sales are the place to look!

Happy Friday!
