DIFFERENT dimension: Pretty Nauti Collection (3 of 8)

*I received the following products in exchange for my honest review.

Cosmoprof 2016 polish reviews have commenced! First off, I have a few polishes from Different Dimension's Pretty Nauti Collection. This collection is now available for purchase on Different Dimension's website. I love the variety of colors and cleve names in this collection.

Pier Pressure
Pier Pressure is a silver holographic glitters mixed with colors reminiscent of broken sea glass in a shimmery holographic base. (3 coats)

Bad Buoy
Bad Buoy is a navy blue jelly polish with added contrasting shimmers. (3 coats)

Ship Happens
Ship Happens is a white based crelly with added shimmer and glitters. (3 coats)

Collection: DIFFERENT dimension Pretty Nauti Collection August 2016

Colors: There are 5 more colors in this collection that I do not have, but I really like these colors. I love the variation of finishes I received in these 3 polishes as well. I love the richness of the blue in Bad Buoy. I'm a sucker for deep blues! I, of course, love a great glitter bomb like Pier Pressure.

Formula: The formulas on these were varied. Bad Buoy had a an excellent smooth and easy to apply formula. Ship Happens had a nice formula as well, but I found when I got to the 3rd coat which I felt it needed it was a little on the thick side on application. Pier Pressure is straight up glitter, so it requires a little more careful application on the 2nd and 3rd coats as it can start to thicken up on certain areas on the nail. That being said, I didn't have any substantial issues with the formula, just some little things I noticed.

Price: The entire 8 piece collection is $70.00. Individually, Pier Pressure is $10.00, Bad Buoy is $8.75, and Ship Happens is $5.00. They all can be purchased on the website.

Overall: I like the theme of this collection, the color selection, and the variety of finishes. Bad Buoy is a great blue that I think will be universally loved. There were a few minor formulation issues, but nothing that I wouldn't expect from polish formulas like that. I also like that there is a variety in pricing dependent on the finish. There is something for everyone.

Blogger Talk: Am I Really A Blogger?

I haven't unloaded on my blog lately and this has been festering for about 2 weeks. It's time again.

I think one of the long-term struggles I've had as a blogger is not knowing how I fit into the blog-o-sphere. My goal when I started my blog was to have an outlet to share part of myself and something I loved. My blog has very much been a personal project. I have never had lofty goals or ambitions with my blog. I never had the desire to receive all the PR samples, become my own brand, or for my blog to grow bigger than myself. I still don't? Is that OK? Am I still a blogger?
I feel this was easier in the earlier days of blogging. Indies were not around, so not many bloggers received press samples or had brand relationships. There were many bloggers like myself who just shared what they bought. That does not seem to exist now? It seems every blogger/swatcher has brand relationships or samples and if not, that is their goal. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with that, but it seems as though blogging/swatching now has an elevated standard in the eyes of many because everyone seems to be working with brands.

I see people sharing opinions and expectations on bloggers/swatchers about photo quality, lighting, and so forth. Where do I fit in with that? I'm not a blogger who regularly works with brands. There is only one brand I regularly work with, everything else is self-bought. I use the same camera I've had for 5 years. I use flash photos because I don't have the best lighting and I'm not interested in building a setup. No, it's not because I'm lazy. My blog is my outlet. It's the one thing in my life that I don't want to put parameters around. I just want to be myself here. If I wanted to work with more brands I would up my game, but that's not what I care about. Can I even call myself a blogger because I don't fit the standards it seems like everyone else sees fit?

Another thing I realize is blogging has a social aspect to it that I clearly am disconnected from. I noticed this at Cosmoprof this year. I am not friends with a group of bloggers. I don't have a blogger BFF. I'm a lone wolf. I'm also not a networker and suck at "selling myself". However, I never intended to sell myself or my blog to people in the first place. I feel immense pressure that I need to be that way though, and if I'm not that way I shouldn't attend blogging events or opportunities because I am not worthy of them and/or I may be taking that opportunity away from someone else who is more invested in blogging?

I started the blog group Hobby Polish Bloggers 3 years ago for many of these reasons stated above. I wanted to connect bloggers like myself together so we had an outlet away from the pressure cooker of professional style blogging. The influx of indies and accessible relationships of brands has changed the dynamic of the group of a bit. Now everyone can be a somebody. That's where the expectations and unspoken rules seem to set in.  Again, there is nothing wrong with bloggers who want these relationships and have these goals. I just feel like my style of blogging has gone extinct and along with that my ability to relate and connect with bloggers like myself because there are no other bloggers like myself anymore?

I feel entirely alone. I always liked blogging because it didn't feel like there were any rules, now if feels like there are tons. I feel like I don't belong anymore because I don't fit a certain mold that either is expected or the mold everyone else wants to fit. It's absolutely sucking the life out of my right now because this blog has been a 6 year journey for me. This has been a major part of my life for so long, and I feel so defeated by it now like I'm the only person who didn't get the memo that my blogging style is entirely irrelevant now and there is no place for it anymore.

I think the bottom line is I feel lonely and I'm having a hard time tuning out the noise of the majority of the blogging community. I'm sure being in some nail groups that are so heavily immersed in negativity isn't helping. I know I can continue on doing my own thing and I'll still have readers and people will still like me. That should be enough? I just can't shake the feeling of being an outcast. I don't know why other people matter so much to me. I wish at 30 years old now I could just be like "I don't give a ****!". As of now, I will continue to blog. It doesn't feel very good right now, though. I do hope that something will spark in me again and I will eventually learn to let go of this junk that is weighing so heavy on my shoulders.

Thank you all for listening and your support. Also, if there are any other bloggers out there like me please let me know!

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 7/31/16-8/7/16

Weekly Wax Wrap Up is back! I think anyone who is into home fragrance knows we're heading into the most wonderful time of the year for wax. The fall and holiday season hardly ever disappoint when it comes to home fragrance. I've started to dabble into my fall wax stash, but I am looking to find more. I'm hoping my Walmart soon will have the new Better Homes and ScentSationals wax scents!

ScentSationals Rain
Scent Description: N/A
My Thoughts: This is one of the most unusual scents I have come across. This smells exactly like hot asphalt after it rains. EXACTLY. I don't know how they bottled that smell into this, but they did! There isn't much else to add to that. It's not a pure rain smell, it's a hot cement rain smell. I liked it a lot. I will say, it's not a scent I want to smell all the time. It's kind of a scent I prefer whiffs of here and there, but this scores high anyways.
Throw: 4/5
Where To Buy: ScentSationals

Ten Digit Creations Flannel Pajamas
Scent Description: your favorite soft comfy flannel pj's fresh from the dryer
My Thoughts: This is fresh laundry right out of the dryer scent. This scent is fresh, clean, and cozy. I have had this scent for awhile and was afraid to melt it because smelled so strong on cold sniff. I'm happy to say this disperses nicely in the air and I did not find it overpowering when melted.
Throw: 3/5
Where To Buy: Ten Digit Creations

DD Woodland Walk
Scent Description: pine needles, cedarwood, & eucalyptus
My Thoughts: I'm pretty iffy about woodsy scents because many of them go a bit sweet and powdery for me. This one doesn't do that which I appreciate! It's very bright, crisp, and fresh which I think is due to the eucalyptus in this scent. I'd say this scent makes me think of a wintery forest. It's more of a Christmas scent to me than fall, but I still love it.
Throw: 4/5
Where To Buy: Hobby Lobby

Ten Digit Creations White Pumpkin & Lilac
Scent Description: hints of lilac petals and autumn lily flowers are followed by a blissful combination of pumpkin seeds, spicy coriander, fragrant cinnamon sugar and luscious cashmere vanilla
My Thoughts: I was so intrigued by this scent name I had to buy it. This is really a wonderful blend of notes. The pumpkin scent in this is delicate and soft and paired with an even softer floral note. I really think this is a wonderful pumpkin scent for people who like pumpkin don't want pumpkin screaming in your face like many pumpkin scents do. My only issue with it is I wish it had a stronger throw.
Throw: 2/5

L.A. Colors Purple Passion

Hello, everyone! I've been a bit M.I.A. this week. I'm still recuperating from my Vegas trip as well as in the process of finding a job. I have a lot going on right now, but I do plan on resuming regular posting despite all that is going on! At least, I will try! I should have a lot of my Cosmoprof reviews going up next week and going forward. Thanks for your patience with me right now.

In other news, I do have a polish to share with you today. This was a Dollar Tree L.A. Colors find. The Dollar Tree closest to me does have a nice selection of L.A. Color polishes. No, the selection doesn't have the most innovative colors, but sometimes I do notice one that stands out to me that I want to try. That's how I felt about this one.

Purple Passion
Purple Passion is a bright lavender creme.

Collection: L.A. Colors Color Craze

Color: I love bright lavender cremes like this one. This color packs a punch and is far from a shy and soft lavender. Yes, there are other colors like this, but this a pretty fun and bold color for $1!

Formula: This had an excellent formula too, which is why it's a standout for me. I used 2 coats above and found the formula to be creamy and easy to apply.

Price: $1 at Dollar Tree

Overall: You really can't go wrong with a $1 polish that is a great color with a great formula to match. I really enjoy Purple Passion and I love finding gems like this even if they're not the most unique colors. I wore this color for a couple a days and loved it just as much as some more expensive lavender cremes I own.

Fair Maiden Just a Mirage

*The product was provided in exchange for my honest review.

I just got back from Cosmoprof 2016, yet I still have polishes from Cosmoprof 2015 to review! Oy vey! This one is from Fair Maiden polish. I've never tried the brand before this so I was looking forward to testing this brand out.

Just a Mirage
Just a Mirage is a burgundy wine with linear holo.

Collection: Fair Maiden Polish Swords and Lace: A Renaissance Fantasy

Color: This a nice rich toned red-purple shade. This isn't my favorite color. There isn't anything wrong with the color. I just feel like this color done with holo is a bit overdone. It's a pretty color I just have many like it.

Formula: Unfortunately, I had a lot of issues with this formula. I found it to be thick, sticky, and uneven. It did not apply nicely for me. The finished product looks nice, but it took some effort to get there! I used 3 coats above.

Price: This is $11 on the Fair Maiden website.

Overall: I'm not to thrilled with this one. I think color-wise my personal opinion aside it's an all around beautiful color. The holo effect is strong and pretty. I just really can't get over the formula on this one. It really did work out well for me and I'm kind of surprised to find a holo formula to have issues with self-leveling and unevenness. I'm not sure if this is just an off polish with the brand, but I'm a bit let down.
